Chapter 13

Cielo and I ran out of the building and through the garden. I carried Estrella on my back as I followed Cielo through the tall trees and flower bushes.

Cielo stopped and whispered "Wait, I hear someone."

We ducked under behind a tall bush. I could hear footsteps coming our way. I held my breath as they passed by us.

"Where did they go? I thought they went this way" someone said

"Me too. Let's just keep looking. We can't let them get away"

They ran past us and continued down the path. As soon as they were out of eyesight, we ran across the path and into the messy garden.

"Are you sure you know the way out of here?" I asked Cielo

"I think so" he replied

"It's a yes or no answer" I said angrily

"Yes. Geez...Now I know what Estrella mean about you being arrogant"

My heart leaped "She talks about me?"

He laughed "Yeah. But not in a good way"

I tilted my head "What do you mean?"

"She...wait. I think that the exit is right up here" he pointed to the left

"You said you know the way out!" I exclaimed

"I said that to make you happy and quiet"

I huffed.

We continued running towards the exit. The exit being a rope hanging down from the top of the wall.

"We're supposed to climb that?" I asked

Cielo tugged on the rope, making sure that it was sturdy.

"Yep. Do you want to go first?"

"Yeah. You should stay at the bottom just in case Estrella falls"

Cielo pulled a bag from a bush and searched through it.

"Where the hell did that come from?!" I asked

"I'll explain everything later." He handed me the end of a rope "For now, just tie Estrella to you tightly"

He helped me with the rope. Once I was done, I walked over to the rope and started climbing. I sat at the top and waited for Cielo to climb over. We then threw the rope over to the other side and climbed down.

"You're sure there are no revolutions here?" I asked

"No"

We trudged through the empty field and towards the kingdom of Kardas. Thankfully, there was no one around where we were. We walked into the kingdom's village.

"No! No! You need to leave! Now!" A young woman said as soon as she saw us.

"Why? What's going on?" Cielo asked her

"There are people running around saying that if they find any of the royal families, that they were going to kill you on the spot!" She explained

A man behind her walked up and said "We've been trying to get them to leave but…"

We looked past him to see a girl holding her shoulder that had bloody bandages around it. She sat on the floor where a group of people stood.

"They did this?" I asked darkly "How could they?"

"This is nothing! Please! Just leave! For the sake of the town as well" the girl pleaded

"Please!" Everyone pleaded for us to leave. Whether they wanted us gone for their safety or ours, the choice was obvious.

"We will leave!" I said

Cielo turned at me with a shocked expression.

"The hell do you mean we'll leave?!" He asked

"These people will get hurt if we stay. Not to mention if we die here, who knows what will happen to the kingdoms" I explained

Cielo grimaced and turned back towards the villagers.

"We will leave for now. But we will return soon"

And with that, we left. But not before the woman who first spoke brought us a blanket.

"It gets cold at night" she said

I held the blanket and laughed. "Thanks"

We walked through the forest going who knows where. My stomach rumbled but I ignored it. We have no idea how to hunt or even how to cook. I think we should expect a few days without food.

We stopped at a clearing we happened to find and settled Estrella on the blanket from the village.

"What now?" I asked

"You tell me. You're the one who offered us up to the wild animals here" cielo said

He went around the area and gathered some sticks.

I sighed "It was for the best"

"How is this 'for the best'? We're in the middle of a forest going who knows where! We don't know anything about the outside world or even if there is an outside world!"

I heard Estrella mumbling in her sleep so I tried to calm him down.

"If we didn't leave everyone would have been killed for keeping us sheltering. We needed to leave!" I yelled

Safe to say, that did not make him calm.

"Well we can't stay here! We have no clue on how to survive in the wild!" He yelled as he picked up a couple of rocks and banged them over the pile of sticks he gathered.

"What are you doing?" I asked

He kept banging the rocks together "Making a fire. With my own two hands!" He looked up at me "cause apparently, we're cave people now"

I was so over him!

After a few hours of him hitting rocks together, he handed them to me. With a few tries, I got a spark. I blew on it to make a small fire. Just in time too, the sun had gone down.

"First timers luck" Cielo grumbled

"Wasn't it your first time as well?" I asked smugly

He huffed and turned Estrella. "Is she going to be alright? She's been asleep since we left the wedding"

I looked down at Estrella who slept peacefully and beautifully.

"I hope so."

Please. Just open your gorgeous blue eyes. Just for a little while is long enough.

Estrella suddenly shot up gasping for air.

Woah! It worked!

...I wish for her to love me!

As soon as she saw me, she glared.

I guess it didn't work. Worth a try I guess.
