Faded to a Silent Scream

I'm his one and only angel heart? But, that means he wants me dead... then how come he said that he rejects me so he can protect me? To protect me from himself?

"Miss. Heart?" someone calls out. I just ignore it as I look out the window. Then I feel a light tap on my shoulder, I look up in alert and I see it's just my math teacher, Mr. Andrews.

"Please pay attention, you and your classmates are getting ready for finals," he says then walking back to the chalkboard and getting back into god knows what. I start to pay attention but then the air starts becoming cold as ice and something just doesn't seem right. Something is off…

"It's because a vampire is nearby," a voice calls out into my mind. I just ignore it, but then the bell rings and I'm being flashed into the middle of the hallway and Xander is right in front of me as our classmates walk among us.

"As I was saying, a vampire was nearby and you just sensed it, you truly awakened Stacy," he says smiling.

"Ok so besides you, who was this other vampire?" I asks. Xander sighs and looks away.

"I don't know, I'm not a diamond angel, you'll have to work on figuring that stuff out- I'm just here to mentor you is all," he says then vanishing into thin air.

"Miss. Heart!" someone shouts. I blink my eyes and I look at the front of the classroom and I see Mr. Andrews irritated at me for not paying attention and everyone is laughing softly.

"Boy is she dense," someone whispers.

"Sorry Mr. Andrews," I say then looking at my notebook and for an odd reason every page with today's date is filled with math notes and I'm just stumped as to how that is possible. I just tune it out and I pick my pencil and write the remainder of the notes as the end of the class comes around the corner.

"So what happened Stacy? You just dazed an awful lot in math," Jenny says as we eat lunch together at the tables outside. I sigh as I pick up my fork, taking a bite of my salad that my maid, Wendy made me this morning. I really just don't know what's wrong with me- I'm listening to an ex boyfriend that happens to be an ancient vampire that has a brother who happens to be my "Angel Heart" that wants me dead.

"Um, I'm just thinking of how Xander dumped me this close to the senior prom," I explain as I place my fork down.

"Believe me Hon, it just was too stupid for him to do that! I mean you're the captain of the cheerleading squad and you're at the top of the class! Why would he dump you for that nobody Susan?" Jenny asks as she and Lucy just groans at this conversation- I just brought it up because they'll just scream if I bring the truth to what I'm really thinking about up to them. I take the last few bites to my salad and I get my things together. Getting up they start to whine.

"I have to get some stuff done with a teacher," I say then giving them hugs and walking back inside for extra help in English.

As the last bell rings, I get up and I see Susan jumping over to Xander and kissing him hard and fast. I mean it hurts but I just don't know why but I just can't focus on the pain.

"Hey Stacy," someone calls out, I look behind and I see it's Kevin, he's part of the soccer team and he's pretty known for how well he plays.

"Hey Kevin!" I say smiling. His smile just made my day at the end of a school day and everything feels so bright and clear, but…

"I just thought I'd say hi and see if you would want to hang out later?" he asks. I smile and I nod.

"Great, here's my number, call me at five, I get out of soccer practice around then," he says then taking out a piece of paper and writing his number on it, giving it to me I smile.

"I can't wait to hang out with you! I'll see you later Kevin," I say then walking out smiling my ass off. He's so nice! I get out of the building and I walk over to my car and I get it started up and leave the parking lot.

"Mom, I'm home!" I call out. As I walked inside I heard people talking and I walked into the family room where I saw Susan's parents and Mom talking.

"Hey Mrs. Ray," I say smiling. All Mrs. Ray does is glare then looks at my mom who just sighs in annoyance.

"Stacy, Shannon was just saying that you never talk to Susan anymore," Mom says quietly.

"We just had problems for the last month and we just decided not to talk anymore," I explain looking down.

"Because of a boy," Mrs. Ray mumbles underneath her breath. I sigh.

"It's got nothing to do with Xander, at least not entirely, we just became distant after a while- me with my studies and the cheerleading squad and her, well with Xander," I explain. Mrs. Ray then gets up and walks to the front door.

"I never liked your daughter Trudy," she says then leaving but not before slamming the door behind her.

"I wish this didn't happen," she says walking over to the side table and opening up the drawer and getting the pills. Suddenly the air got cold again and I knew just from what Xander said, it was someone nearby that wasn't human.

"I wish you and Susan stayed as close friends, because of Xander you two never slept over at each other's houses and it just became one big depressing atmosphere," she says going on about me and Susan. Grabbing the pill bottle again and sitting down with her what looks to be water but really it's vodka in a small glass and her popping the pills down her slender throat quicker than talking like a car salesman.

"Mom, I thought your therapy was helping you stop that?" I ask quietly walking to the door, Mom snaps in an instant.

"Your father left me! That's why I do this!" she yells then throws the glass at me, almost hitting my head. I just run. It was almost five anyway so I might as well call Kevin and leave before things get worse. I'm calling up Kevin to see where he is so we can hang out as long as possible.

"Hey Kevin," I say smiling over the phone.

"Hey Stacy, I'm just getting out of the school building, meet me at this address- it's where I live, I'll text it to you now so I'll talk to you when I see you at my place?" he asks. I smile wide.

"Yeah!" I said trying to be cheerful but some part of me just isn't sitting right with what happened with Mom. I park my car in this long driveway and I walk up to the door. I knock on it loudly and I see someone open it up. I see Kevin there, I smile and try to look happy.

"Hey Kevin," I say just trying to tune out the words Mom yelled out before she threw the glass at me.

"Stacy, what's wrong?" he asks worried. What did he mean by that? but then I realize at that moment I was softly tearing up a bit.

"It's nothing-" I try to say, but he cuts me off.

"It's gotta be Xander! That ass!" he yells loudly.

"No! It's my mom," I say just standing there like the fool I was.

"Let's go out, I think it would be better off that way anyway," he says then taking my hand and leading me to his car and going anywhere our hearts want to go.

Sitting with Kevin and talking about Mom just felt different. Something that made me feel like I was finally free. Free from the chains of pain and sorrow.

"Oh wow Stacy, I'm sorry to hear about this," Kevin says rubbing his head with the back of his hand.

"It's ok, ever since my dad left for a woman half my mom's age, she just went off the rocker," I explain.

"It's not ok, you deserve better- have you spoken to the counselor about this? My mom thankfully works at the school and if you want, I'll go with you and support you all the way," he says taking my hand.

"You don't have to worry, I'll be here," Kevin says. Then everything around us became cold, from an unknown expression, Kevin just backs away.

"I'm sorry," he says blushing. I smile and ignore the cold.

"It's ok," I say kissing him on the side of the head. He sits there in silence then laughs loudly. moving forward into my direction, he gives me the biggest hug you can imagine.

"I'm glad we can be honest like this, would you want to be my friend?" he asks. Smiling wide, I then take his hand and I squeeze it tight.

"I would like that." I say to him. He smiles and stands up.

"There's a park not too far from where we're at now, you want to play at the swings?" Kevin asks. Laughing softly, I nod.

"Oh my god! I haven't been on a swing in so long, yeah let's go!" I shout then jumping up and running to his car, I just feel so happy and the pain from before just melted away- like the cold snow as spring comes into the new year.

"Ok here we are," Kevin says as he pulls into the parking lot of the park. I squeal even louder than a girl getting her first barbie doll!

"I'm so glad you love it, let's see how much more fun you'll have when we're actually at the swings," he laughs about it as he gets out of the car laughing. I got out and started to run towards the swings but I, like a klutz, fell on my face. I was just about to get up when Kevin jumped over as fast as time in worry.

"Hey are you ok?" Kevin asks quickly.

"Yeah!" I says then getting up and dusting myself off. I smile and take his hand. His face is flustered and his eyes started going to a dark brown, looking away and mumbling something.

"You have a scrape on your nose hon," he says looking away. I felt my nose a bit and I realized yeah I banged myself up a bit. I laugh a bit then took his hand and dragged his ass towards the swings.

"But I have to clean the scrape!" He pleaded in worry.

"It's just a scrape! Don't worry I've been through worse," I say looking back at those days where I got badly hurt from dance class when I was young. At one point I was in the hospital and I just decided to quit because it just wasn't worth the pain and injuries.

"Well if you promise to let me clean it after we leave!" he says as we got to the swings. I nod and sitting down.

"Push me?" I ask him with a cute smile to my face. He sighs and smiles big.

"Yes, my princess," he says bowing and pretending that I was a real princess. He walks around behind me and he starts to push me gently on the swing. I can't stop giggling, and all these old feelings of happiness and pure joy just came back in aflutter. After this I'm going to make him promise to take me back here again. At least once a week.

"I'm going to push you a bit harder." he says laughing. Squealing loudly as he pushes me harder on the swing. The air felt warm, like it was just perfect. But then the air became cold and Kevin stopped.

"Kevin, why'd you stop?" I ask him, but there's no answer, it's like I was alone. I look behind me and I saw no one it was like no one was here. I walk over to the car and I saw him there shaking his ass off.

"Kevin! What happened?" I ask worried.

"I got to take you back to your car, it's not safe here!" He said as he started the car.

"Ok, but can you tell me what exactly happened?" I ask as I got into the car. He then started to speed out of the parking lot and raced back to his house.

"I'm sorry Stacy, look I'll see you tomorrow- just call me in the morning, I'm usually up around six in the morning," Kevin says as we got out of the car then rushing into the house without another word.

****

As I drove closer to the house, I saw cops at the front of the property. I breathe in deep-just hoping to the Heavens that it's not the worst thing to be thought of. I park the car and I run towards the house, a tall police officer runs up to me and starts asking me questions.

"Young lady, are you Stacy?" he asks.

"Yes, but what's going on?" I demanded to know from him.

"Your mother had an accident and your maid Wendy had called us to step in-"

"I'll kill you Henry!" Mom shouts as she dragged out of the house and Dad was there all banged up and bruised talking to some cops.

"Dad!" I shout as I ran to him.

"Sweetheart! I'm so sorry about coming out like this-I heard about some things your mother was doing and I had to come by," he says walking quickly to me and holding me in his arms. Why was this happening?

"What happened?" I ask him quietly. Dad sighed and looks at me with sad eyes.

"I came over after hearing about her addiction and I came to tell her that you were moving in with me, when she heard, she snapped and attacked me, when Wendy saw, she ran for the closest lockable door she could find and called the cops, that's when it really hit the fan," he says then going into silence.

"Your mother is going to have to be put into a hospital for a really long time, I'm so sorry Stacy." he explains kissing my forehead. I stand there as dad held me in his arms and as time slowed down I heard the cops yelling for backup and sirens blasting and everything going into a blast of chaos. If this isn't hell- then I don't know what is then...
