After giving Mayumi the rest of the night off and bringing her back to her room. On my way back I ran into Luciel.
"Done?" he asked
"Barely even scratched the surface but we're progressing quickly,"
"That's good to hear, do you think you'll be able to get enough in time?"
"I have to, nobody should have to have their freedom taken because it's convenient for officers, let alone a child, " I said as we walked the hall.
"You're right about that," Luicel sighed. "So how far did you get?"
"So far we've learned besides manipulating memories, she's phenomenal at hand-to-hand combat. Cher comes back tomorrow afternoon after hours so hopefully, I'll get a statement from her, "
"Cher?"
"Oh, the person Mayumi took memories from," I briefly explained to Luciel.
"Oh right, did you find out why she did that?"
"Yeah I did and I don't think she'll be doing it again. Can I ask you a few questions?"
"Uh sure go ahead,"
"What do you know about the Archer Family?"
"The basics you know what everyone knows, their manifestation, their eyes, how they came to be,"
"What about extended family? Is there anyone else bearing the Archer name?"
"As far as I know, no. The Archers have always been an immediate family. They have an heir and the Tormentors watch them grow up and have the next heir, "
"So how come nobody saw this heir growing up?"
"Rumor has it, they didn't want anyone to know this child was born. Whenever a new heir is born, both Tormentors and Saviors know,"
"But why wouldn't they want the public to know? Isn't it important? Also, what if there was never a child and they just said that to make people think the Archers are still around?"
"That's a possibility, but I don't think that's it,"
"So what do you think?" I asked Luciel.
"I think that the Archer child has abandoned their life as a Tormentor and is playing normal within this part of the city, " Luciel said staring into my eyes.
"What makes you think that?"
"It makes sense, doesn't it? The child was told to lay low so they probably got carried away with it and decided to live the way they are now,"
"The Archers do carry a heavy burden, so you might be right about that. I mean being told as a child that you'd have to not only protect a large number of people but to find someone to marry and even have a successor to do the same is quite a lot," I said agreeing with Luciel.
"Exactly why I think they might be living on this side. The Tormentor side isn't the best location to lay low, "
"That's true this side is definitely the place to be if you'd want to thrive, still knowing that you have no other information to go on so what are you planning?"
"I heard there was a person that has helped an unlimited number of Tormentors on record and is willing to help anyone to gain more, "
"And who might that be?" I asked thinking to myself, Luciel just looked down at me. "Oh yeah no that's not me. Unfortunately, I do not know about any Archers, let alone the child, "
"Well, do you know anyone that might?"
"I think I might know of someone with really special eyes but they might not pick up anything seeing as this child isn't on record nor have they ever been seen,"
"Any information is good," Luciel said looking desperate.
"Alright alright, I'll check in with them tomorrow. I'm going home for once so you get some rest, I'll see you tomorrow," I said.
"Ok bye, Director and thanks for the help,"
"No problem," I said as Luciel walked back to his room, I made my way home and got inside. "Talk about an eventful day, " I said sighing, I made dinner and went straight to bed after.
The Next Morning
As I got to the front of the building I was bombarded with news reporters.
"Lady Director, is it true you're harbouring a fugitive inside here?"
"I'm sorry who are you and what type of question is that? No hi, no good morning, talk about rude, people usually greet someone before talking to them you know? Also, this could be taken as a form of harassment from each of your news stations." I said with a demonic smile, "Now that I think about it research material does cost a lot...maybe I'll sue each news station," I said with a smile and 90% of them left. "I guess most of them were rookies, anyway what do you guys want?" I said looking at the 3 people standing in front of me with notepads.
"Hi, we write for a local newspaper and we were wondering if we could ask a few questions," one of them said, with an awkward smile.
"You're lucky I have a soft spot for underdogs and I like persistence, come with me," I said as I swiped my card and walked in with the three that stood outside.
"Good morning Director," Nicole, the receptionist, said with a smile.
"Good morning Nicole, may I have 3 visitor passes for these 3,"
"Of course, Director," she said as she gave me 3 passes, "Have a good day, everyone,"
"You too Nicole," I said with a smile as we walked into the work area. Here is where inventions are actually assembled and tested to ensure that they'll function properly after distribution. I take the trio upstairs to the staff room and we all have a seat. "Now, what were your questions?"
"We were wondering about the young girl that may be responsible for the missing persons," one of the three spoke up.
"Well, she's innocent of course," I said.
"Could you provide details on that?"
"I'm sorry but I can't since the prosecution knows almost nothing about her. If I revealed anything to you and they saw it, that would be detrimental to our case,"
"That's ok, thank you for your time," one of them said as they were about to leave.
"But I'd hate to leave you empty-handed, how about I tell you about my latest invention?" I said with a smirk as the three rushed back to their seats.
"If that's alright with you, please continue,"
"With pleasure," I said going on about my invention.
