The Rains of Red

The last words she wanted to say were lost forever.

Lillian sadly smiled as she knelt on the floor and covered Cassandra's eyes. She glanced at Aaron with a gaze full of pity, a mocking grief.

"You don't understand."

His gaze was still upon Cassandra, there was an absolute silence in his heart, a deathly air that suffocated him, and a stirring despair that made him no longer feel like himself.

The dull blade of his sword brimmed with a flickering mana. His prowess were almost depleted due to his injuries and the fight before, but watch life slip through Cassandra caused something to stir inside of him.

"Y-Your Grace..." Myrtle's voice broke, her body had gone cold from being so close to death but when Aaron's eyes met the empress, and that unbothered amused look, a revolting feeling twisted inside of him.

"I don't need her," Lillian smiled, "You may do whatever you wish, but either way, the end is inevitable now."
