Rejection

When Leonard had insisted on having the conversation right away, everyone in the room already felt a bad premonition in their hearts. They knew it would be something important since he was rather persistent about it, but never would they imagine that it would be about the engagement.

The moment Leonard Angwin had mentioned Ophelia, they immediately knew what the second prince wanted to do. And to be honest, it was rather reasonable decision. They knew it was coming and they didn't blame him either. It was a matter of his image and they needed the support of the people and the rest of the nobles.

Hence, even though the duke had temporarily suppressed the news about Ophelia, it would just be a matter of time before everyone heard about it, since the duke didn't plan on releasing Ophelia. Not only because she had come into contact with the enemy which made her dangerous, but it was also because what she had done to his daughter.
