Five petals

"Dammit, why is today so hot?" Kanna remarked, even with a fan blasting out, everyone in her workplace was still sweating buckets, "Why did you have to break the AC Soushi?" she taunted as one of her male co-workers was engulfed in fear.

"I-I'M SO SORRY MISS KINRYUU!!!" the man yelled out, his tears flowing from his eyes.

"Woah, it was a joke Soushi. Everyone makes mistakes," Kanna was surprised at how the man reacted, she was a little concerned, "Is that how people see me?" she asked herself.

"Pretty rare of you to make jokes," another man called out, but this time, Kanna knew who this was, "The ever so~ serious student council president, Kanna Kinryuu," the man was Rashirana Namoko.

"A strict person could make jokes," she replied, a giggle came out of Rashirana.

"Yeah, just kidding," he replied, a grin was painted on his face.

Rashirana Namoko, Kanna's high-school friend. In high school he was a very popular boy, he was known for not taking rules seriously, his blonde hair and piercings signal this, "Can't believe a week ago it was gloomy, now it's like we're in the Sahara desert."

"I wish I have ice cream," Kanna exclaimed, it was near her lunch break so she was already thinking of what she would get. The classic strawberry was her conclusion.

"You going to the dairy? Me too," Rashirana stated as Kanna responded with a nod.

The two got ice cream, they stayed in the dairy because of the cool AC, "So, Kanna, you're still single right?" Kanna didn't expect the sudden question from Rashirana, "Oh sorry, didn't mean to make this awkward."

"What should I say," Kanna thought. Her mind was all over the place, "Uhh… yeah?"

"Why did you say it like you were the one asking the question?" Rashirana asked, he was on the verge of laughing uncontrollably.

"Look oka-" suddenly, Kanna's phone rang, "What's this?" she didn't recognize the number but she still picked it up.

Behind the phone was a man, "Hello are you Kanna Kinryuu?" the man asked politely.

"Yeah? Why did you call me?" Kanna responded. But her question was answered by a voice behind the man, "Nicholas?"

"Who's Nicholas?" Rashirana questioned behind her, Kanna was shocked, she was thinking of an excuse.

"Oh, it's a character from this one manga," she responded, Rashirana nodded.

"Sorry, continue your call."

"Sorry, that was just my friend, please continue?"

"Well, your husband is waiting for you in the police station," this news made Kanna's blood boil.

"Uhh, Kanna?" Rashirana nervously asked.

"Can you please tell me the location?" she asked, her voice sounded like it was suppressing a demon inside.

"Uhh, y-yes miss, it's at Kamaru stre-" the man was cut off by Kanna dropping the call.

She looked at Rashirana with an intimidating gaze, "Please tell the company I was feeling sick," before Rashirana could respond, Kanna speed-walked away from him.

It took thirty minutes for Kanna to arrive at Kamaru Street, Kanna didn't even mind the heat at this point. She located the police station in no time. She stood outside, trying to regain her calmness, "Keep calm, keep calm, keep… calm," Kanna's face turned sharp, yet calm. She confidently entered the police station. Suddenly, her calm face turned into a face of confusion, "Nicholas?"

There was Nicholas, his groceries in the ground, knuckles were bruised, and he was applying an ice bag on his cheek, "Ah, Kanna… Sorry," Nicholas said, again with his broken Japanese.

"What happened here?" Kanna asked.

One of the police officers approached her, "Miss Kanna Kinryuu right? Well, your husband heroically saved a woman from assault," Kanna was surprised at the news.

"Wait what? I thought he was in trouble?" Kanna asked, Nicholas, flinched at Kanna's answer.

The police officer chuckled, "No trouble, you don't even have to pay for the guy's hospital bills," Kanna's jaw dropped at what the police officer said, "Oh yeah I didn't tell you. Well the guy who assaulted the girl is now in the hospital. He has two fractures, a dislocated arm, a busted lip, and swollen eyes," what the police officer said made Kanna face her husband. Nicholas quickly tried his best to whistle whilst looking away.

"Nicholas?" Kanna approached his husband, her eyes were squinting due to the confusion.

"I asked… him nicely, then he punched me on... the cheek… he also pulled out a knife, that's when my instincts activated," Nicholas was trying to look as innocent as possible, but the word instincts in this context didn't make Nicholas look so innocent.

"Okay~ Officer, is he free to leave?" Kanna asked.

The Officer looked at her with a grin, and responded, "Yeah, that's the reason why we called you in the first place."

Kanna realized, "Oh, yeah that's right," she turned to Nicholas, "C'mon let's go home," she called out, with her sharp eyes.

"Alright," Nicholas was shocked at how serious Kanna was.

When the two were walking back to their home, the atmosphere of the situation was awkward. Nicholas tried to lighten the situation, "I got broccoli… You want… meat with?" Nicholas asked in a kind manner. Kanna looked at Nicholas.

Kanna, instead of answering, looked at Nicholas with a displeased gaze, "What do you mean instincts?" asked Kanna, Nicholas began to shake.

"P-please ignore that," he responded. Kanna wanted answers, but she just couldn't be bothered at the moment.

"Fine, make me food fast, I need to sleep for my job," she declared in a serious tone, Nicholas stared at her with a questioning look.

"But... it's only afternoon," he informed, Kanna then realized.

"Wait, yeah it is," Kanna got out her phone, "Let's see if I can still work," she opened her phone to reveal that there has been over thirty messages from her co-workers to relax and she has been excused for today, "Sometimes, I hate that my work loves me."
