When the eyes opened

The nurse was replacing the fluids on the medical stands and Amas's mom was having a discussion with the doctor when Amas moved. After almost three months of wait he finally showed some movement, some response and then his eyes flinched as he tried to open them.

"Mom! get me some water." were his first words after 2 months and a fortnight, she couldn't believe herself for the first few moments but when she saw the doctor quickly making arrangements to facilitate his waking up she finally came to senses and realised that her son was gonna wake up now. The nurse turned around and glanced at her as if to say, "it's okay now." and she nodded in agreement, her love showing through the stream on her cheeks, her face flushed with tears as she looked at her boy look at her.

she wanted to cry harder but didn't so that Amas did not feel bad, so that he did not blame himself.

"What a time to get up boy! You made it." exclaimed the doctor and smiled at Amas. Even though he wasn't really feeling like it he smiled back at everyone in the room, the best smile he could put on at the moment. He then repeated his request, "Can someone please get me a glass of water?"

"Pardon me! I got caught up in the moment... I'll fetch a glass quickly." Said the assistant nurse and off she went. The doctor asked,"...you were on fluids so you do not need water, probably some alone time is it?"

"Just with my mom",replied Amas and the doctor left the room.

"Is it too bad? My injuries...." He asked

"Nah doctor said you are recovering at a rate higher than average so no worries." She replied. "When will I be able to go to school again?" He asked again. "Well that depends upon how fast your body recovers during the rehab." Said the doctor walking in. "Well you know I have to finish the job, rest well for tonight and from tomorrow morning we will be starting your rehabilitation." He continued, "Well let your mother go home for now i am guessing she hasn't slept for almost a 2 months now, just the naps of course."

She then quickly looked away, knowing how furious Amas would be and just as expected he said, "Mom! have you been even taking care of yourself for however long I've been out?" He started to cough, apparently the anger had taken a toll on his weak body almost making him gasp for air. So instead of arguing with him she just agreed with her son and went off, she knew she'd be back by 5 am next morning to see her son begin his recovery, to see him walk after so long that's probably the reason she kept on smiling on her way out but as she was about to leave the cabinet she paused ,turned around and walked back to Amas and kissed his forehead before finally leaving. The doctor followed her on her way out and started speaking, "Mrs.Sahay although Amas has recovered from coma But chances are he might suffer from any mental disorders caused due to the trauma of the accident, so it's important that you don't mention any sad things at least for the next 2 to 3 months."

Although this wasn't a good news but she realised it wasn't as bad as Amas slipping into coma or anything like that so she nodded in agreement and promised herself to give her son the best life possible, as she started to drive off in her sedan to her home.

Amas still laying on his bed was thinking about what had actually happened as his memories were foggy and he was really confused, so he just decided to not give it any mind and go to sleep. When he saw a girl out in the dark in the parking lot, "probably for some relative." he murmured and went to sleep, again.
