The real reason why the Wither Bees, whom Lyrica claimed to be intelligent creatures, are attacking and want to kill them is that the Wither Bees knew more people would think of entering their hive to get their precious honey if they let anyone get out alive.
How the Wither Bees become aware of this fact is not just because they are born as intelligent creatures. They learn how to react when someone invades their beehive through their past encounters with other humans who also tried to get a hold of their honey.
"Through those past encounters with people who went before us, the Wither Bees learned that letting people get out of the beehive alive would spell their inevitable return to try and get their precious honey once again."
Thanks to those experiences, the Wither Bees learned they cannot let an invader get out of their home alive. And they also learned how to get rid of them strategically.
"She's right," Magdalo spoke, getting everyone's attention.
The reason why Magdalo and Roberto know the entrance towards the beehive is due to the people who attempted to get the mother bee's honey but ended up getting nothing, albeit they survived. Because of those who failed to get what they want, passing their knowledge to those who wanted to try and get the mother bee's honey for themselves, more and more people are trying to enter the beehive.
Eventually, the Wither Bees learned not to let any more invaders get out of their beehive alive. And now, they are using that knowledge they gained from their past encounters against Lyrica and the others.
"There is no way for us to escape altogether," Lyrica stated as she points her finger towards the cave they used to enter the beehive. "If we all try to rush the exit, they will all strike at once. We can't do that, they're too fast. Not to mention, their sting could rain down at us before we even see it coming."
Marlo suggested using his magic to protect them from the sting that might come at them like rain. However, Cardo protests against the idea, saying that it might trigger the Wither Bees to attack all at once.
Marlo's earth manipulation magic is somewhat durable, but not hard enough if a horde of Wither Bees tries to break through them. And if that scenario were to happen, they won't know where the enemies would come from as they'd be busy trying to clear their vision until it's already too late.
"Even if we follow your idea, Marlo, where are you supposed to get the earth you need to create something like a wall in this room covered with thick wax?"
Marlo looks around the beehive where even the ceiling is covered with wax due to the Wither Bees. Thanks to Lyrica's question, the knight realized he is useless in their current situation.
"They are not attacking, but you can tell they are hiding behind those blind spots, waiting for us to make our move." Uttered the young knight. "If we can't use Marlo in this situation, then what do you suggest we do, Lyrica?"
Just like that, Riko and the other knights look at the girl to hear her idea. On the other hand, Lyrica looks back at them with a sour expression on her face.
'Are they seriously looking at me for an answer?' Lyrica's face would only grow more distraught as the knights try to urge her to speak her thoughts. 'Aren't the adults supposed to be the ones making plans here? What in the world is happening here?'
Lyrica eventually let out a sigh as she asked everyone to let her think. They are not attacking right now, but that doesn't mean the Wither Bees are patient monsters who will just sit back until their prey eventually gives up trying to get out alive. That being said, Lyrica has left no choice but to use her head and make a plan quickly.
She looks at the fire torch in her hand, as well as to everyone else's fire torch. The girl thought about doing what beekeepers do to their bee farm which is smoking them.
Lyrica learned about smoking honey bees back when she was browsing the net to research for her homework. It is said that beekeepers smoke the hive to make the honey bees calm down during their inspection. The smell of the smoke makes them think their hive is on fire, causing them to start some sort of fire drill.
Instead of defending their hive, the honey bees begin to eat their honey to prepare to leave their home. Once they filled their bodies with honey, they become lethargic just like a human being after overeating. This lethargy subdues their stinging response as they become too slow and groggy to attack.
Lyrica thought it was a good plan at first. But looking at the fire torches in their hands, there's just not enough fire to create the smoke she needs to subdue the Wither Bees. She doesn't even know if the plan will work, seeing that the Wither Bees she's planning to subdue are completely different in size and are more intelligent compared to the little ones on Earth.
'It's a no-go.'
She once again looks at everyone who is still waiting for her plan and immediately thought of an idea.
'Maybe we should use everyone as bait so that Riko and I could get out of the beehive and get the honey to Nela?'
Lyrica let out a soft chuckle as the thought came across her mind. The others who watch her do so got curious as to what made her chuckle. They're completely oblivious of the fact that the girl is thinking of leaving them behind for her and Riko to get out of the hive alive.
'No, that will not be an option here.'
After a while of thinking, Lyrica eventually found a plan.
"There's only one way for us to get out of this situation alive."
"And that is?" The young knight asked in reply.
The girl gave Riko a stern gaze. "To leave me behind."
