Agatha, The Assassin

It was red, everything I see is covered in nothing but the color of blood. From the trees and the green leaves, the morning sun and its supposedly yellowish glow, the flowing river that shine like mana crystals, and other people as well. I can see them all painted in red.

This unusual way of seeing things did not come from my late parents, I was simply born with it. But although it doesn't really harm me in any way, being the only one with this abnormality makes me feel lonely and envious of others who can see the world filled with varying colors. I grew up hating this condition of mine, but that hatred eventually drifted away, knowing that I'll live my life only seeing the world in a single color until my last breath.

Though I'm starting to get used to it, it still feels lonely and embarrassing that I'm the only one suffering from such a condition.

***

Sometime during her youthful years.

"Ah, a mango tree!"

"Those mangoes look delicious!"

"They are so yellow, they probably taste pretty sweet!"

"Ah...!"

"Oh, that's right, Agatha can only see everything in red, I'm sorry."

"I-It's fine!"

***

There was a time when I thought, 'Are there people who can also see things the same way as I do? I wish I could meet them someday...' That thought gave me a false sense of hope because up until now, I've never met a single person who's like me. But one day, before I became a soldier of Kruule, I obtained a magic ability unique to myself.

***

Sometime before she became a soldier in Kruule.

"W-What is this?! Why is everything colored in red?!"

"It really is! What is happening?!"

***

Whenever I lock my gaze onto someone's back, that person's vision becomes blurred in red. Perhaps it was my desire to meet people like myself that led me into manifesting this magic ability. However, there's a difference between my abnormality and the people who are affected by my magic.

***

Sometime a few months after she became a soldier in Kruule

"Ah, everyone disappeared all of a sudden."

"She looked at us from behind again..."

"Sorry!"

The people who are affected by my magic can only see and interact with one another, and they cannot see me or the others until I deactivate it. They also couldn't hear us unless I deactivate my magic ability. On the other hand, those who can see normally can see them acting weirdly as if they lost their minds, talking to themselves and such.

"What is this? It feels kinda warm, although it's not like that usual warmth you get by bathing against the sun... This warmth... C-Could this be...?!"

"T-That's not it! Agario, you pervert!"

The people I got my eyes on can also feel my emotions all around them. And it's possible so long as I don't avert my gaze from them. With my magic ability, I was able to let others experience what I see every day, as well as let them know what I feel without needing words, although using it at the wrong time can be embarrassing.

***

But more than that, my magic which allowed me to share to people what I feel and see every day can also be a formidable ability against enemies. If I used it correctly.

***

"Do it, Agatha!"

Glance!

"Huh? Wha- where is everybody?! And why's everything in red?! And what's this overwhelming bloodlust?!"

Quelch!!

"Agck!"

Those who fell under my magic ability can only see those who are also affected by it unless I deactivate it. All they can do is to look around in confusion and wonder where my presence is coming from, making it the perfect ability to take down monsters and silence humans rather easily. A perfect way to assassinate or simply capture a target

"I can't believe it Agatha is already a high commander and it hasn't been that long since she became a soldier!"

"It must be nice to have an ability perfect for the job."

"A-Ahahaha..."

I never had trouble taking people's lives, blood doesn't bother me in any way either. For me, blood is just like another river covered in red, albeit they are a bit thicker. My abnormality and magic ability made me think I was meant for this job, and I'm grateful that I am. Because my magic allowed me to protect my beloved kingdom and keep the people safe.

"Will you become my woman, Agatha?"

"Yes, Agario."

Although I'm different from the others...

"What should we name her?"

"Hmm... What do you think about Agna, Agario?"

"I think that's a great name!"

"All right then, from now on, our daughter will be called Agna."

I had a merry and contented life. That is until the Hari, whom I served with my loyalty, brought chaos, suffering, and pain into the kingdom three years ago.

***

Going back to the present, Agatha who is now serving under Uruk, arrived at where the battle between her men and Lyrica and Kael took place. And without hesitation, Agatha pierced Lyrica's gut with her dagger without even seeing each other eye to eye.

"L-Lady Lyrica!" Kael shouted frantically.

Without mercy, Agatha pulled her dagger out of the girl violently, causing blood to spray out of Lyrica from front and back. She eventually lost the strength to stand, she fell while facing the ground.

"Ha!"

Kael dashes forth and tried to attack Agatha with his rapier, but the attacks he already thought were fast, was effortlessly avoided by the assassin. Kael wanted to at least land a single hit, but although it was to no avail, he at least managed to push Agatha away from him and the incapacitated Lyrica.

"Lady Lyrica!"

He used the chance to check up on Lyrica if she's still alive.

"A-Ah..."

'She's still alive, but she's breathing raggedly,' Kael thought. 'That wound cannot be left open for long.'

Kael could not see it, but Lyrica's HP is decreasing by the second. Right now, Lyrica's health points are already less than 40%.

'I cannot let her die, even though she's not one of the four heroes, I am certain we will need her and her power in the near future.'

Glance!

Not knowing how Agatha's magic works, Kael lets the assassin get a full view of his back. And as a result, Lyrica disappeared before him and everyone else around him, and the scenery became covered in red once more.

'Though I said that, getting out of here is certainly not going to be easy.'

Kael once heard of an assassin from Kruule who can easily take down her target without them knowing where the assassin even came from. And those who are captured lived to tell one thing:

"Before I got attacked, my surroundings became blurred in red, and everyone else around me just suddenly disappeared into thin air. Then it felt like someone was looking at me from somewhere, and before I knew it, I was attacked from behind."

"There's no doubting it, you're the one they called..." Kael sensed a glare full of bloodlust coming from everywhere around him. "... The assassin of Kruule kingdom—Agatha!"

As his rapier started glowing with light like Tibay and Heavy Metal's barrier, Kael quickly turned around, thinking that Agatha would strike his back and deflect it with his weapon. But...

'She's not behind me...?'

Kael was wrong, Agatha was behind him after he turned around. But he has no way of knowing that because the assassin is invisible from his eyes! He couldn't even hear what she was saying!

"Only Lyrica was on the list, but since you tried to attack me and check up on her, you will have to share the same fate as her." Agatha hardened her grip on her dagger as she locked her gaze onto Kael's heart. "Die."

Without delay, Agatha thrust her dagger forward.

"Hey!"

Out of nowhere, a beam of light, although it was shrouded in red due to her vision, stopped her from piercing Kael's heart from behind. She turned to her right, and finally...

"Y-You...!" Agatha's eyes widened

Lyrica and Agatha's eyes crossed one another. However, it wasn't the girl's beam of light coming from her left hand nor her charcoal eyes that got the assassin into a standstill.

"T-That face, that scarf...!"

Right before Lyrica's light magic struck Agatha, impairing her vision, the assassin shockingly uttered:

"...Agna!?"
