Father's letter

Violet stayed inside the Palace as the Emperor had forbid her from going outside.

Violet spent almost the entire night thinking of all the events that had taken place since she married the Emperor.

She wasn't sure of how to handle the situation as she had never seen her mother struggle in her marriage because of her father's infidilty.

The Duke was extremely faithful to the Duchess and showered her with all the love a person deserved.

Violet felt the indignity and insult creeping in as her thoughts wondered to the treatment she received from the Emperor.

Violet was sitting at her work desk when a maid knocked on the door waking Violet up from her thoughts.

"Come in."

"Greetings ,Your Majesty the Empress ."

"Yes?"

Violet asked the maid who had come into her office.

"A letter has arrived from the His Grace , Duke Vanidestine." , the maid replied.

"Thank you. You may go."

"Yes , Your Majesty."

The maid gave the letter to Violet's lady-in- waiting Lillian who took the letter and gave it to Violet.

Violet opened the letter her father sent to her with slightly trembling hands.

It had been just a day but she already missed her family.

Even though she had been trained to be the Empress from a young age , Violet was always loved and pampered by her brothers and parents.

Thus, Violet found it hard to simply swallow the humiliation she received.

Violet hated to admit but it was true that all the life , no one had slighted her or gave her the short end of the stick.

And those who did were blacklisted by her family.

They had enough power to do so.

It was because of her position as the daughter of the Duke and the privilege as the Crown Princess.

But, Violet knew that her father's authority could barely influence the matters of her marriage to the Emperor.

Looking at the letter in her hand, Violet smiled as she thought of her supportive family.

Her loving dad.

Her cheerful and bubbly mom.

The quiet and reliable Luis.

The adventurous and playful Matthew.

The considerate and nerdy Stefan.

" Greetings to Your Majesty the Empress, the Moon of the Empire of Iretonia.

My lovely daughter ,

Are you faring well?

You know that I love you and I cherish you deeply.

When you were in your mom's womb ,

I would sing lullabies and read stories for you so that you would recognise my voice when you came out into this world.

I remember those days when you would lay your head on my shoulders and sleep in my arms.

Your little hands holding tightly to my fingers as you took your first step.

I was able to protect you then.

From falling. From hurting yourself.

But now , I can no longer do that.

Now , you have to stretch your winds and soar above the skies like an eagle.

And I know my baby girl will rise through all the obstacles and bends on her way.

Little one , I know you will make a great Empress.

But my greatest wish is for you to be a wonderful human being.

Know it deeply in your soul , my child , in that unshakable place that is not rattled by rejection, ego or loss – that you are worthy.

Do not let people's definition of you ever define your worth.

I wish that the people you encounter will be gentle with your heart.

But if life does not treat you kindly , my child,

I wish you the strength to face your challenges.

The wisdom to choose your battles carefully.

No one can be you as well as you can be.

So , do not be afraid to be yourself.

You will make mistakes.

And that's okay.

No one is perfect.

You will have fears.

Discouragements and failures.

And that's okay too.

If you mess up , pick yourself up.

Overcome your fears and keep moving forward.

Be stronger and wiser each time you stumble and fall.

Do not place any limit on yourself.

The sky is not your limit.

Your mind is.

And remember, your ego will never be your friend.

Be courageous. Be kind.

Be happy.

Take pleasure in the ordinary and simple things in life.

Remember , my dear , that you're a gift.

And we always have your back.

For the amazing Empress you will be.

And the precious daughter you always will be.

Dad loves you.

Mom loves you.

Luis ,Matthew and Stefan send their love to you too.

We love you , child.

Your family who loves you.

House of Vanidestine. "

Tears rolled down Violet's eyes as she read her father's letter.

Her dad was her favourite person in the entire world.

Indeed, a father is a daughter's first love.

And no other love in this world is like the love of a father for his little girl.

Violet reminded herself that day that in this lonely palace , she was alright if no one loved her.

Because she had a family who loved her with all their heart.

She had her father who would hold her hand and have her back.

That was enough for her.
