Meeting the Mistress

Violet changed to a grey and purple two- layered organza floral embroidered gown with puffed sleeves.

"Prepare Lavender Earl Grey Tea along with a light refreshment. "

The sweet flavour of lavender is known to calm the nerves and ease anxiety.

" Yes , Your Majesty."

"Your Majesty, Lady Olivia has arrived."

"Hmm. Take her to the parlour."

Violet thought she would make Lady Olivia wait an hour for her just to irritate her.

But she realised that would just cause reasons for the Emperor to find fault with her.

She really did not care how the Emperor or Lady Olivia felt about her.

But she wanted to avoid as much drama as she could.

So , she made Lady Olivia wait for a quarter of an hour only.

Just a quarter.

Violet entered the parlour after the maid announced her arrival.

Lady Olivia looked slightly pissed as she was made to wait.

'Who does she think she is?

I am the Empress of the Empire.

She's just a Mistress.'

"Greetings , Your Majesty , The Moon of the Empire."

"Hmm."

Violet took a seat after which Lady Olivia also sat down.

Olivia Wilde.

A pretty 21- years old lady with chocolate brown hair and brown eyes.

Average height of 5ft 5 inches.

She had naturally straight hair.

Pretty on the outside.

While on the inside, one cannot be certain.

But if one is willing to be a mistress and wreck a royal marriage, that speaks lengths about one's character.

The maids started serving tea while Lillian stood beside the Empress.

" Your Majesty is late.

As the Mother of the Empire , shouldn't you be one to set an example?"

Violet calmly took a sip of the tea and answered,

" Lady Olivia is a right.

I am the Mother of the Empire.

Thus , I have a lot of paperwork and issues to overlook and is extremely busy.

My schedule is tight.

Lady Olivia is blessed to be graced by my presence.

Quite unlike you , if I may say , who simply indulges in pleasures you aren't entitled to."

"Is Your Majesty looking down on my commoners' blood?

Just because I am of low birth doesn't mean Your Majesty has the right to step on me."

"Lady Olivia's statement is quite misleading.

I do not indulge in such self-reproach and self- degradation.

When I look at a person, I see person .

Not his rank or title .

Or blood , in the words of Lady Olivia.

I've never made a mention of Lady Olivia's birth and status.

It was you who implied so.

If Lady Olivia thinks she's lowly ,

then I'm sure she certainly is.

We are what we think we are."

Olivia looked extremely annoyed at the Empress' retorts.

She would not lose to a 15 year old.

Olivia told herself.

" I simply meant that Your Majesty shouldn't waste other people's precious time."

" I believe Lady Olivia should be aware who exactly is wasting others' precious time."

" You shouldn't be so full of yourself , Your Majesty.

So what if you're the Empress?

The one in the Emperor's heart is me. "

" Is Lady Olivia's worth based solely on His Majesty's favour and love?

Then I cannot help but feel sorry for you."

"You..you..How dare you..."

"How impolite , Lady Olivia!

How dare you address the Empress in such an informal way?" , Lillian scolded Olivia.

" Lady Olivia , I've overlooked your lack of etiquette considering the fact that you did not have anyone to teach you.

However , there are certain boundaries you shouldn't cross.

If Lady Olivia requires an etiquette teacher ,

I shall be willing to appoint one.

I believe Lady Olivia has over stayed her welcome.

I shall not see you off. "

Violet left the room without looking back at the fuming Olivia.

'I hope she has learned her lesson.'

But Violet couldn't be more wrong.
