A Baby Boy

Five months later.

Violet was reading a book titled

" The Magnificent Extinct Reptiles "

in her library when a knock disrupted her .

"Greetings, Your Majesty.

Lady Olivia is about to deliver the royal child . The Emperor requests your presence." ,

the Head maid from the Emperor's Palace informed her.

"Alright. I'll be right there."

The Empress entered Lady Olivia's room and heard her piercing cry.

Violet gestured Xander and Lillian to stand outside the door.

The Emperor stood rigid outside the bed covered by curtains while the doctor and wet nurses were inside assisting Lady Olivia for a safe delivery.

Violet did not know if she was allowed inside the room but she assumed she was as Marco and Robert did not stop her at the door.

Violet had not seen the Emperor since that night.

The Emperor made no mention of what happened either.

No apology was made.

And no penalty was given for hurting the Emperor.

Did he feel sorry?

Or did he find out the truth?

Violet did not have any answer.

She did not need one either.

Violet had nightmares almost every night.

She was detached and her eyes would sometimes look lifeless.

She was adverse to people's touch till today.

At the beginning , her skin would crawl at the slightest touch from others.

Now , she was better.

She still felt uncomfortable but it was bearable.

Lillian , without her permission had informed her brothers that she was feeling under the weather.

Lillian had made that assumption since she did not know what had happened to the Empress.

Xander had kept his mouth tightly shut and did not utter a word about what happened that night even to her brothers.

And Violet was grateful for that.

His consideration and loyalty.

Though Violet had disliked Lillian acting on her own will and informed her brothers of her downcast emotions, she had let it go after reprimanding her as Violet knew Lillian was simply worried about her.

Her brothers would take turns to visit her everyday for an hour or two to accompany for almost three months.

They never asked her what happened as they felt that she needed space and time.

She would tell them when she way ready.

Also the Emperor had not visited her on the promised nights the past five months.

It was not like Violet wanted him to come.

She would rather deal with all the bad rumours than having to stay alone in the same room with the man who humiliated her.

Another piercing cry woke up Violet from her thoughts.

"Push , my Lady. Push."

"Aaaahh.." , came another scream.

A nurse came out and held a baby in her arms who was crying his first cry.

"It's a baby boy , Your Majesty. Congratulations!"

Everyone bowed to the Emperor and the Empress.

The Emperor did not even look at the baby in the nurse's arms and ran straight to Lady Olivia who was lying weakly on the bed.

"Lady Olivia will be alright , Your Majesty.

As for the Royal Prince , his constitution is slightly weak which would mean a weak immunity as he was born prematurely.

Even though it might seem hardly noticeable as it is just two weeks but this is a consequence of falling into the pond in the early pregnancy.

He would need proper medication for several months to a few years to become healthy. ", the doctor informed the Emperor.

"Hmm. You may leave him to the Empress.

Is that alright?" , The Emperor asked Lady Olivia.

"Yes. I do not need such a weak child."

"But , Your Majesty, it would be best if the Royal Prince could be breastfed by the mother herself."

" That's enough! Leave him to the Empress. She'll figure something out."

Everyone was made to leave the room except the Empress .

The nurse had cleaned the baby and placed the baby in Violet's arms.

Violet felt a bit awkward holding the new-born baby.

Though she used to follow her mother to orphanages as a child and played with the children , she had no experience in taking care of a new-born child.

Violet looked at the Emperor and Lady Olivia who had not even looked at her.

"I shall take my leave as well."

Violet then left with a baby boy cradled in her arms.
