*knock* *knock*
Wayne who was reading a book, half sitting on the bed with his back resting on the headboard, heard a knocking sound from the door which was neither too loud or too low; but just perfect for the other person from behind the door to get his attention..
A smile crept on his face, knowing who could it be at that moment as he permitted them in a gentle voice, "Come in…"
The wooden door got finally opened and the most dear faces of his life came into his view.
Reno and Sophia entered inside with a huge smile plastered on their faces, while their little princess Katherine followed them with a shy smile on her face..
The couple took their seat on the bed, right opposite to Wayne whereas Katherine crawled towards her grandfather and sat beside him, wrapping her hands around his waist..
Wayne smiled at Katherine's act and kissed her forehead with pure love, making her smile to the fullest.
Closing the book and keeping it on the bedside table, Wayne looked at his son and daughter-in-law who still hadn't lost the smile and asked, "So would you both like to tell me what's the reason behind this big smile on your face after so many days?"
Sophia couldn't held back her excitement anymore as she chirped happily, "Well, something really big happened Dad.
And I'm sure that you will become the happiest Pa of the world after hearing what we're about to tell you.."
Reno just shook his head at his wife's eagerness as he explained everything to his father, "Dad.. As you know that the Jones family had visited us yesterday to share their grief with us and also too meet you personally..
But it was not the only reason.. Actually, they had come here with a proposal which was more like Uncle Joseph's last wish.."
Reno paused a little to have a grip on his emotions before continuing with a sigh, "Apparently, they had asked for our Katherine's hand for their son Ethan.
At first, we were very much shocked as it had been only few days since his death. But later they cleared our confusion by telling us about uncle's letter for them, stating his wish to make Katherine the daughter-in-law of their house…
We were actually very happy with the proposal as Ethan seemed to be a perfect guy for our daughter. Moreover, both Austin and his wife too seemed to be nice people. But we didn't want to take risk by informing you about this news without confronting Kathy."
As Reno stopped to take a breath, Sophia helped him to describe the rest of the truth, "We knew how much precious your bond was with Uncle. So we didn't want to make any kind of consumption before Kathy's approval..
What if, she would deny to marry Ethan without even meeting him even for once! Considering the fact and your health issues, we decided to first send her on a date with Ethan and get to know about her decision..
Only after getting her approval, we wanted to let you know about this whole proposal to avoid making your heart bleed anymore due to the pain of not able to fulfill your best friend's last wish."
As the couple was finally done with explaining everything to Wayne, they kept staring at him in search of any kind of reaction from him..
Surprisingly, they weren't able to detect anything as there was no traces of any kind of expression lacing on his face.
Irrespective of them revealing such a big news which had once fallen on them like a bomb once, his reaction was kind of composed!
In fact, he seemed to be so calm that it could give a competition to that of a monk who was engrossed in reciting his prayers, forgetting all the wars, taking place around the world..
He just simply turned his face towards Katherine who too was looking at him with keen eyes and asked calmly, "I assume you have said yes Kathy, as your parents are finally here to disclose the biggest news of your life."
Katherine just nodded her head in response and said, "Yes, Grandpa! I've said yes to the marriage."
