The Smell Of Blood

The assailant seemed to be a simple human, as even though they brought down the full might of their swing in my face, I was still, very conscious. My head, bashed towards the ground, my vision would start to turn red. And as I lingered, I'd see drops of my blood in the mess I had created.

It was then, that all feeling of disgust, remorse, sadness and confusion left my mind. Even my blood seemed to have lost its crimson. It was as if my whole being had come to a single conclusion. Everything seemed to fade around me as time slowed. Looking up, I could only see one thing, a person, and think one thing... die.

Then spurred on by a cue of shattering in the uttermost parts of my being, the black swirling mass in my stomach would instantaneously explode. It didn't spread to all of me though, that was not my intention. But, like a river retaking its course in the wake of a drought, it rushed to my head and shoulders.
