The Plan Doesn't Change

I was sure that I had caused damage, but apparently, I was just ignorant. The pieces of the degenerator drew across the floor, and upon reaching their destinations they began to float. They were slotting themselves back in place, and as the glass cube reformed, the cracks would mend with a yellow glow, as if melting. I would have been surprised but I was still numb from the previous experience. Sitting there, all I could was watch the spectacle unfold, uninterestingly.

Observing the machine though, I was soon approached with more news, bad news. It was Rico that time, distraught and disappointed. He was missing the upper half of his armor; I wanted it back on. I could see all the signs; I would not accept it.

"Sir..." His voice rumbled as if it was stuck, or so it seemed. "We've decided to-"

"No, no you haven't, I'm seeing that ruin. As a matter of fact, that's an order, get everything in place for our departure, no excuses." I flexed my authority.

"Yes Sir!" His face lit up.
