The ceiling fan slowly went round and round as my eyes followed the wings. It only took me a few seconds to feel my eyes spinning in their sockets. I held Roohi close to my heart and hummed a tune. The dinner was done and my mom was already fast asleep in her room. Switching off all the lights, I lay in bed watching the rotating fan until my eyes felt heavy and tired. My body curled up like a shrimp as I cuddled in my comfy bed. The moonlight shined through the window, partially illuminating the desk and the closet opposite to my bed. My eyes wandered through the room as the crickets chirped in the distance. The paper now in my hand, I nodded off to sleep without a forewarning.

" Don't scream..."
I was staggered to hear a voice beside me. The bed rattled faintly and a pair of hands wrapped me up. The air in the room suddenly seemed insufficient as I struggled to breath. The left hand tightened around my chest as the right hand slid right under the skirt and started ripping off the leggings. The godawful odor filled my aura and my forehead started throbbing. My eyes turned red and a quivering raspy voice echoed through the room. " Please...let me go...please"
I heard the buttons pop and a belt unbuckle. My voice inside screamed and yelled, begging to stop. My left arm involuntarily gripped the piece of paper. Tears streamed down my face and the world seemed hazy. The grunting pierced my ears and I knew in my heart, that it was time to let my consciousness go. I closed my eyes as my uncle's hand reached my mouth, covering my only source of freedom. 'Fly away Ayesha, Fly away...' the voice in me chanted over and over again. The chanting started to grow faint as the bed shifted from underneath me. My body suddenly felt weightless and the odor disappeared. I was falling. Upon opening my eyes, I was now back in the same place I was before but something had changed. The ray of colors behind the dark matter seemed to shine through, moderately, lightening the space that I was floating in. I felt...numb. The adrenaline rush and the state of panic had completely disappeared and was left with a state of numbness. This time my legs stepped on to a ground first. I was now placed in an upright position and slowly the reality set in. The atmosphere turned cold and the sense of dread returned. My legs trembled ever so slightly and my hands rested freely on both sides. I opened my eyes and felt a thump in my heart. Right before me, was a long narrow path with walls on either side covered in mold. There was no end. The passageway only faded into darkness. I strode forward, even though it wasn't entirely a conscious decision. I walked and walked into the darkness...deep into the darkness until I hit the bottom.
