Before I moved to the city of Krimo, outsiders would describe the city as the one where shadows play. For years heroes from all across the world have tried to stomp out the chaos, but when their light tried to defeat the darkness, another shadow would always pop up sooner or later in a miserable, endless cycle.
This is why to shine as bright as ever; I had to remain ever vigilant, even if I'm not at my particular best right now. For the 7th time I landed on a nearby rooftop with a barely timed tuck and roll. And as I laid there with my blonde wig in my eyes and bright sun on my face, I was almost so done that I just wanted to lay there. But instead, I did what I've always done and got back up.
However, all it took was one good look from the top of that building to see all who I had to protect. I could finally see the heaven scraping skyscrapers that surrounded me from this height. In this century filled with superhumans and superpowers, I had to be the best of the best for this society.
Which means I have to live up to all those expectations the people of this city have. Because I am the hero Omna, and I may not have the power or the prestige right now, but I am more than happy to play the part for the city of Krimo, even if I die trying.
Before I could soak up the view even further, though, a large beeping sound came from my right glove. A holographic screen popped up when I pressed it, with a police hovercraft tracking signal moving at breakneck speeds just a few hundred feet away from me.
Realizing that my time had come, I gave in a long breath to set my mind right as I walked to the side of the building closest to the emergency, collecting myself and planning out my path. Once that happened, I readied my stance, felt the energy summon itself around me, and gave into one mighty leap that sent me hurtling into the sky towards my destination. But my gentle jump turned to a destructive spring, leaving the rooftop with a cracked crater as I realized far too late that my fluctuations were worse than I thought.
Because what could've been a peaceful sustained flight has now quickly turned me into a flaying mess that was minutes away from kissing my life goodbye and the hundred-foot pavement of the upper levels hello. That's if the other hundreds of flying hovercrafts don't break my fall first.
