the loss of a mother

That same afternoon, Evelyn was asleep on the couch, she slept off while watching a movie. grandma Helen walked into the room and smiled seeing her granddaughter sleep so peacefully. After giving her a soft Peck on the forehead, she was about leaving the room when suddenly, the latter screamed from her sleep

"mum!!!" she screamed and jumped up from the couch, grandma Helen was quick to go to her to calm her down "grandma my mum.....something is wrong. I'm so scared grandma!" Evelyn cried while her grandma hugged her

"shhh, everything will be fine dear, I'll find your mum and bring her to you OK" she consoled even though a tear secretly dropped from her eyes, she was quick enough to wipe it off

"I want to see my mum! you are lying, my mum is still alive and well, she would never leave me like this!" Betty cried struggling against the nurses grief, she managed to break free and ran towards Amanda's corpse "mum, open your eyes and show them that you are alive, you are just sleeping right. this has to be a joke, you will have to stand by me mum, I am yet to fulfill my promises to you. I promised to give you a better life mum so give me a chance to fulfill it" she wailed uncontrollably as she shook the corpse

"Betty, your mother knew she was going to die today, she came to me a week ago to inquire how much time she had left. she doesn't want you to despair, that's why she said nothing to you so take heart" the doctor consoled while Betty sat on the floor crying

Her eyes was already red and her hair scattered, she looked miserable. Her reaction was bad, she lived with her mother all her life and loved her with her heart only for her to just leave one day, she died, never to be seen again.

Betty watched as her mother's body went up in flames, she had cried her eyes out. By the time Amanda's ashes was given to her, Betty was too weak and tired to cry, instead, she took the ashes and walked home not minding the distance

she opened the door and walked to the bed in the small room, met Amanda's phone on the bed and played the last recorded video, it was a video of Amanda when she was dying

"my strong daughter.. I am sorry that I had to leave you, it was never my intention to leave as I wanted to spend every single day with you but my fate has been decided already. I want you to be strong for me and take heart. You want to know who your father is? your dad is a good man at heart, nice, even though hot tempered but honest. He has a heart of gold, have I ever told you just how naughty you can be, just like your father. I actually have a surprise for you though, in my diary, your dad's address is there, since I am no more, you need someone to protect you. Go to your dad and get your surprise, your si....I mean, your surprise will be waiting for you. I just wan...want you to know that I love you a lot and I will forever be with you"

Amanda managed to finish her speech, even though she was gasping for air and was crying at the same time. Betty burst into fresh tears seeing how her mother was in distress but she wasn't there for her

"I should have been there for you mum! I should have been there to relieve you of your pain" Betty cried at she folded her knees and placed her head on her knee

She alighted from the aeroplane, dressed in her faded blue jeans and a red long sleeve top, she dragged her small bag behind her while squeezing her eyes into a paper, she was on a quest to find her father and give him a piece of her mind. The paper suddenly flew away from her hand and covered a Guy's face, she walked towards the guy and he pulls the paper away from his face, it was none other than kyle

Betty didn't intend to stare at him for long but she couldn't get her eyes off him, ultimately, kyle was also staring gently at betty, he didn't know why he was staring but he was staring anyway. Neither of them knew how long they have been staring at each other until a young lady interrupted with a pretend cough

"sorry about that..." Betty apologized walking closer to him to collect the paper, he hands it over to her and goes to hug the lady

"Kimberly, how are you?" he asked smiling, Betty turns to walk away from them

"wait miss....you look lost, are u stranded?" Kimberly asked and Betty offers a small smile

"actually yes, I don't know anywhere here because I'm new to this place, I haven't seen anyone that knows this address and I didn't want to disturb your boyfriend and you about it" Betty replied earning her a scoff from kyle

"don't be ridiculous miss, he's not my boyfriend, he is my brother, my younger brother. Anyway,I'm Kimberly Santos" the black haired pretty girl introduced and Betty smiles at her, she took in her appearance, average in height, white skinned and slim with a perfect ponytail

"I'm Betty grande" she replied

kyle was silent all along listening to the girls conversation, he collects the address from her and looks up at Betty with a kind of look hard to decipher
