Chapter one

I am walking after Elida the head court lady. My mother has asked to see me and I am really not happy at all because she is always with her husband. If she wants to have a mother and daughter talk with me, why does it have to be in his presence. it's just so annoying and I really want to go meet my dad.

Elida bows and went away. I open the door to the throne room where mother and her husband will be. Mother sits in her usual spot close to King Darien and my step -siblings sits in their royal sits as well. I have never fit into this family: My step sisters Mirah and Norah look exactly like my mom and their father, they are tall like my mother and they also have straight black hair like her but they have their father's almost gold eyes. Darius my steb brother is just eight year old and he already looks so much like his father. They all look like a portrait and I am nothing like them, I don't even look like my mother. I am a total Carbon copy of my dad and have nothing in common with mother. I am short and she's tall, her hair is black while mine is red, she has dark brown eyes but I have hazel eyes and I am much more curvy than her.

"Minerva it's so nice for you to join us" Mother says. Yes she named me Minerva when she brought me back here but everyone knows I hate the name so they stick to Olette.

"Good day King Darien, Good day Queen Adelina, Sisters , brother". I greet them all. Don't be surprised I call my mother Queen Adelina that's because as her as a Queen more than she is a mother.

"Sit down Minerva" King Darien ordered..yes yes..we do know you are a king but must you always raise your voice. I didn't say that loud of course. I obey and sit close to mother.

"Lord Viktor is going to arrive tomorrow and he requests of your presence" The King tells me.

"Why? " I question

"Because he wants to marry you"

I laugh out with no humour at all. He must be joking.

"you can't really be serious"

"Do I look like the one to joke around" I can tell he is getting angry as it is.

"Neither do I and the simple answer is no I won't marry him"

"How dare you go against me?" The king seethes in anger and mother gently pats his hand

"Minerva this is the tenth man asking you to marry him " She says

"And what has my answer always been?" I question harshly

"No" she replies

"Then that's the same answer this time around. Nothing has changed"

"You are going to marry Lord Viktor " The king says to me.

"And why would I?"

"Because I am your king and father"

"The last time I checked, my father name was Lucien a light fae and the only reason you are king over me is because Queen Adelina brought me here"

"Minerva! don't talk to your father that way" Mother scolds.

" Oh please mother you know he's not my father". Mother doesn't reply instead she turns to my siblings and ask them to leave.

Immediately the door shuts she gets up and walked up to me.

"Minerva quit behaving like a child and marry Lord Viktor"

"I don't want to"

"Why don't you want to? he is a nice fae"

" I don't care. I want someone who I love and loves me". King Darien scoffs and says

"There is no such thing as love"

"Queen Adelina loved my father before you came in to the picture" I yell at him

"I never loved Lucien"

"That's a lie. You loved each other but your desire for power blinded you"

She laughs and goes back to her sit

"If I loved your father, I wouldn't have left him. Me leaving him means Darien was more important"

"And after your wedding you grow to love your husband" King Darien added. Mother is lying I know it.Her and father really loves each other.

I can't stay in this room any longer. I open the door, I turn back and look at King Darien in the eyes

"I am not going to marry Viktor and that's final"

"Minerva don't...." Mother trys to scold but I cut her off

"Don't call me that. My name is Olette and not Minerva" Having said that I walk out and slam the door. The King can do me nothing. I am among the strongest of my clan because I have both Fae blood in my system.

"Olette can I come in?". The little voice of my step brother Darius asks.

"Yes darling". He enters and joins me on my bed. I carry him and place him on my lap. I love him so much unlike his sisters. I hate their guts so much. they were not like that when they were younger and that's why I am going to love Darius when he is young because I am sure he's going to be just like his sisters when he grows.

"Let's go out to play"

"Not now darling"

"But I want to go now" he whined. Almost everyday we go out of the palace and while I take my evening walk, he plays with other faeries his age but today I am not feeling like it.

"This is what we will do. After dinner, we will go" I assure him.

"Father won't let us" He complains

"He will, trust me" I reassure and kiss his cheek then he tickles me with his little hands. He is just so adorable.

Dinner ended an hour ago and everyone except me of course had retire to their quarters. I go to Darius room and we both leave the court. Since it is already late,we decide to go to Lady Wellesley place to listen to her story on her trip to visit the humans. Every month she goes to the human world and grants people wishes but she is a dark fae so it doesn't last because most of us here are evil. If it was a granter from the light faes it was going to be forever because they were so pure.

"Princess Olette, Prince Darius" Wellesley greets as we step into her house.

"What brings you here so late?"

I pinch Darius and he almost scream but I guess he suddenly remembers that I was signalling to him to talk.

" we just wanted to hear about your latest trip to visit the humans" He says in his adorable little voice

"oh that ..come follow me" She takes us to a dark room that the only light was from a Firefly. We sit and she starts by telling us how a little girl wished to be a fairy but of course she didn't grant it.

Wellesley ends her story. I look down at Darius who is fast asleep.

" Wellesley I really wish you grant wishes for Fae also"I honestly tell her

"I do " She replies

"Are you serious?" I ask

"sweetheart just ask for a wish and I will be sure to grant it" Well this is it.

" I don't really know what I want but I just want to experience what love feels like. I mean, I want someone I will love with all my heart"

"That's nice and I am sure you will find someone that will love you as well"

We say our goodbye to Wellesley. I hold on tight to Darius hand a lot going through my mind. Wellesley is an evil Fae and her wishes never last long. It goes away when you are beginning to enjoy it more and I don't think she will make an exception for me because I am a Fae like her. What have I done?I hope I haven't made a mistake by trusting her.

It is the next day and I am looking forward to go to my mom with the same request of going to see my father. I dress without any assistance. I walk to the table where breakfast is being served.

"Morning" I greet and nobody except Darius replies.

"I just wanted to inform everyone that I will be going to see my father later in the day" I announce to them. Mother drops her spoon and looks up at me.

"You were well informed yesterday that Lord Viktor will be arriving today" She reminds me like I didn't already know

"I know and it happens to be known of my business"

" you will not leave this place " the king finally speaks..I thought he lost his voice

"it's been so long I saw my father"

"We agreed that you will only get to see him once in two years and it's not even a year yet since you last saw him" Mother says with annoyance in her tone.

"It doesn't matter I miss him"

"you are supposed to meet Lord Viktor today..why are you acting this way" Mirah the most annoying of my twin sister comments. How does this even concern her.

"Shut up! I wasn't talking to you" I flare and she instantly go quiet. I turn to mother and give her a look of challenge. She knows better than to challenge me because I always win but she of course is smarter.

"Let's make a deal. Forget about going to visit your father and I won't worry you about Viktor" Mother offers. I think about this, I think it's a good idea. I can still see Dad if I summon him and I get to get rid of Viktor.

"I will accept this only if King Darien allows me to start visiting Earth and fulfill my duties as a Fae" . it's so obvious that the King doesn't want me going but he has no choice but tot to let me and I am going to use this opportunity so well
