At our first new year eve !

LYDIE: What are you thinking about ? Or should I say, who.

DJEFF: Nothing...You've got a nice view in your bedroom.

LYDIE: Thanks

DJEFF: It's the kind of view who help falling in love.

LYDIE (whispeing): No need...

DJEFF: Did..did you just say no need ??

LYDIE: Did I ? I heard nothing.

He giggles.

DJEFF: I have a question in my mind since this morning.

LYDIE: Shoot

DJEFF: About that drug man. Ex drug man. I know someone who's gone to rehad 5 time, he always got back. Another one tries to give up alcohol, but can't.

LYDIE: So, what is the question ?

DJEFF: I mean, how is it possible ?! What kind of rehab did he got ? It gotta be something. What job had his educator ?

LYDIE: I just know that he was a pastor, at a church.

DJEFF: His Job ?

LYDIE: Well I forgot some details about the story. The ex drug addict gave up after praises and prayers. That's what he said. He said a Jesus helped him.

DJEFF (Perplex): What ?

LYDIE: I know. I'm a very rational person but he didn't seem to lie. It's his story I mean...

She shut up, and they stay a moment in silence, holding each others.

LYDIE: Do you believe it ?

He clear his throat.

DJEFF: It's not completely impossible. You ?

LYDIE: No...I don't know.

DJEFF: It's not the first time I hear that name. The man who told me about fornication used the same name. He came to me on the street and told me my life story with girls. He said he was like me until he encountered someone who love him more than those girls. He said" Stop using girls to fill your emptiness" He said that name and left me.

Lydie doesn't know what to answer. They stay silent a moment.

LYDIE: Djeff, did we just kissed ?

DJEFF: Did we ?

LYDIE: We had our first kiss a few minute ago. Was it in my mind ?

DJEFF: No it wasn't.

They giggle softly.

LYDIE: What are we gonna tell to the others in January ?

DJEFF: We'll see...I'm thinking about my family who was surprised I travelled for a girl. They thouht I was single.

LYDIE: You are still single.

DJEFF: Stop...

He smile and look down to her.

DJEFF: That's not what your hands are telling me, under my shirt...

She smile, like she's been caught.

They stay a moment like that, and then fall asleep.

In the Phoenicia city, more and more people are getting reunited at the public place for the new year eve.

AT THE COTTAGE_10:30 pm

INT- LYDIE'S BEDROOM- NIGHT

A phone vibrate, and Djeff wakes up. He reads "Dad" on the screen. He pat Lydie who is still laying on his chest. As soon as she opens her eyes he show her the missed call.

LYDIE: Oh my...what time is it ?? I promised to be there at 11.

The phone vibrate again.

LYDIE: Hi dad...yes I'm coming. You didn't found Djeff ? No, he told me he's still there. I'm coming...

She hang up and stand up.

DJEFF: We'll arrive together. They'll know.

LYDIE: You hide, I go to them, you come.

He stand up and walk to the door.

DJEFF: I'll say we met on the way.

He gets out, she start to get dressed.

A FEW MOMENT LATER.

EXT- PHOENICIA CITY CENTER- NIGHT

Djeff and Lydie arrives. Djeff hold her hand.

LYDIE: There are my parents, drop my hand...

DJEFF: No

LYDIE: My dad is gonna get angry at you.

DJEFF: I'll ask him how he felt in love with your mom.

They arrive in front of their parents.

LYDIE: Hello!

MOM: Finally...I thought you was here already, Djeff.

DJEFF: I went on a walk in the alleys. We met when I was coming back.

DAD(firmly): Drop her hand, young man.

Djeff slowly drops it.

DJEFF: Sorry sir, she was cold and it's my job to warm...

DAD (Interrupting): Your job to warm her, as ? Her husband may be ?

DJEFF: Not yet but...

DAD (interrupting): Her fiancé then ?

DJEFF: May be one d...

Lydie burst out laughing.

LYDIE: Shut up Djeff, you are so annoying. Let's go order some food.

The get away.

DAD: They are hungry huh...both of them. Right now.

MOM: Honey, it's 11...come on, he seems really nice.

DAD: Not to me.

She hold his hand and the go toward the crowd.

The place is getting more crowded. People are eating, dancing and singing. A group of people are preparing the fireworks.

Lydie is sitting on a bench with her mom.

EXT- AT THE BENCH- NIGHT

MOM: Are you two dating ?

LYDIE: We never said that, but I don't see myself with someone else.

MOM: You knew he was coming, but you didn't tell us...

LYDIE: He made me the surprise. I promise.

MOM: Okay. But, I don't believe that you met in the alleys before coming here. Where were you ?

Lydie gasp, and turn her face away.

LYDIE: It's a secret.

MOM: I'm your mother...I won't tell your father. If it's what you fear.

LYDIE: He came back home after you left. We were at the cottage.

MOM: Together ?? Oh no...What did you do ?...cut the details please.

She looks at her mom and sneers.

LYDIE: We spoke about life, ate marshmallows and then...

MOM (Interrupting worried): You went to your bedroom.

LYDIE: Yes

MOM: Oh no...

LYDIE: "Oh no" what ? We just slept. And fully dressed...

MOM: Well, well, well. Look into my eyes.

She does.

MOM: You never kissed, nor had sex till now. True or false.

LYDIE: We never had sex. True.

Her mom sigh and turn her head to observe Djeff from a distance. Lydie goes toward him, while her dad sit on the bench.

MOM: Dear, that Djeff is a good boy.

DAD: Why ?

MOM: He had many occasions to abuse her but he didn't.

DAD: He can do it anytime... Oh sorry I have to make things clear before the new year countdown.

He stands up and walk toward Djeff and Lydie.

EXT- AT THE TREE- NIGHT

DAD: Hi Kids.

They turn to him.

DAD: I want you to come and seat on the bench next to ours, so we can keep eyes on you

LYDIE: But dad, we want to stand up.

DAD: Sweety, if you didn't invite this boy you could have stayed up. Now, I have to watch over you. Young man I'm warning you. No eyes contact, don't touch her face, and don't even think about a kiss. Got it ?

DJEFF: Yes...sir.

He goes back to the bench, Djeff and Lydie follows him and sit on the bench next to theirs. People start the countdown.

PEOPLE:...4-3-2-1- HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Lydie get closer to Djeff, she put her leg on his, and hug him. She whisper into his ear.

LYDIE: I can't believe you are here with me...

DJEFF: Me neither. I feel like I'm in a dream.

When Mr Linwood see them talking to each others ears, He tries to stand up, but his wife stops him. She get closer and kiss him.

INT-COTTAGE- DAY

Lydie walk down the stairs and o to the kitchen. She sees Djeff, day dreaming with a cup in his hand, staring at the snowy hills. Trying to be discreet, she walks toward the coffee machine.

DJEFF (Still turned back at Lydie): Will you ignore me for a long time ?

LYDIE: Oh. I didn't see you...

He turn and observe her putting the coffee in a big cup.

DJEFF: I can survive without a morning hug, but I won't without your usual harsh look at me.

She sneers and approach to hug him.

LYDIE: How was your night on the couch ?

DJEFF: I couldn't sleep that I had time to prepare the breakfast for your parents.

A few minutes later.

INT- EATING TABLE-DAY

They are all four sitting at the table.

DAD: Thank you Lydie for preparing this new year breakfast. It's delicious!

LYDIE: Djeff did it, I...

DAD(Interrupting): How did you sleep ?

MOM: Well thank you Djeff.

The ambiance is happy at the table. When they are finished, Lydie and her mom bring things in the kitchen and starts to clean. They did it to let the men alone at the table.

The look at each other, and none of them moves, until Djeff decides to go take fresh air on the terasse.

INT-KITCHEN-DAY

LYDIE: No, mom he said he is a looking forward person and that is why he wanted to see me before January.

MOM: Okay...I admit that he's cute.

LYDIE: But dad hates him.

MOM: No he don't. It's normal dad your dad want to protect you from...

She interrupt herself and take a big sigh.

MOM: You know what ? I suggest to ameliorate their dialogue skills. Let's go out just us, and we let them home.

LYDIE: They'll kill each others.

MOM: We'll see. If you accept to go at the spa with me.

LYDIE: Who will refuse a spa for the last day of hollidays mom...

They finish and announce them that they are going at a luxury spa. They will just be back for the dinner. They take the car, and go.

INT- COTTAGE- DAY

It's been an hours the girls have left. Mr Linwood is upstairs, working on his computer. Downstairs, Djeff is sitting on the couch, watching TV.

He suddenly tun it off, take his back bag, and gets out.
