DANICA
I strolled upstairs silently and they both followed. It was funny how I’d slipped from having an inevitably painful anxiety attack to feeling calm and relieved. Well, I was still anxious.
I reached my bedroom and pushed the door open before going in search of the little gift I’d found on my bedside table not too long ago.
I handed him the small mirror attached to the note and watched him react. He just stared at me in shock and confusion for a while.
The words from the note ran through my mind again in a seemingly endless loop.
“When do you know you’re being watched.”
I fought the urge to look around me, but I was still very conscious of everyone around me. Seen and unseen.
“I found this last night. It was right there,” I explained, pointing timidly at the former location of this gift.
“Why didn’t you say something?” Asher asked, still confused. I shook my head.
