Lilah heard the talking before she was able to open her eyes. "Do you think she is ok? Why was she in the men's room?" 'Wait, that was real?' Lilah thought veaguely to herself. 'I thought I dreamnt that.' She was cold and uncomfortable, the whole world around her felt like it was spinning. 'Maybe I'm in a car... who cares, I just want to sleep.' They hit a bump and her eyes briefly fluttered open just enough to see someone hovering over her, she was laying in their lap.
"She probably just didn't see which restroom she went into." She recognized Adam's voice. A hand started stroking her hair, she imagined it to be him as well. "How did you get so much vomit in your hair?" he asked her absently. "That happens when you get drunk." Lilah mindlessly replied, eyes still shut. "Glad to see you still alive. How are you feeling?" Lilah reached up and rubbed her pounding timple, and shuddered visibly."Probably about as good as I look."
"That bad huh?" Lilah peeked at Adam under one eyelid. "ha, ha. Where are we anyway?" "Almost back to the base. Time to start perking up." Lilah slowly rose to a sitting position next to her friend. "What time is it?" She quinted against the dawning sun in anguish. "Almost 4." Adam replied. "Who was it that was told they needed to toughen up?" Adam seemed amused, Lilah was not.
"Yeah yeah I know. Don't get used to it." "Get used to what?" Adam asked curiously. They began the turn into the base and Lilah could just hear her bed calling her name. "Being right." Lilah grinned at Adam and he reciprocated. "Don't worry, I wont." As soon as the car stopped, Lilah made the treck to the baracks and collapsed on her bunk without bothering to clean herself up.
A few hours later Lilah awoke to to the sound of chatter, and stumbled to her feet before realizing it was saturday. She plopped back down and remembered one of her makeup compacts had a mirror, checked herself in it, and sighed.
She was alone in the baracks now, so she decided to go take a shower before anyone finished eating. After she drug herself out of the shower she wiped the steam from the mirror and frowned at how sorry she looked. Dark eyes, pale skin, and a mysterious irritation around her mouth that she had no clue where it came from.
While she dressed she tried to remember what all had happened the night before. The last thing she remembered was dancing with CO Schumer, (She didn't totally regret this, by the way) and having the sudden urge to pee once they finished.
She could remember nothing else. Had they kissed? She only ever got marks like this after a good makeout session but she truely didn't remember kissing him at all. Oh well. As long as it didn't cause her any trouble on base then she would survive.
When she was ready she headed into the mess hall and joined Adam where he was scarfing down his breakfast. "Hey sleeping beauty." He smiled at her with a full mouth. She sat none too gracefully and buried her face in her hands and groaned. "Here, I got you some food. Eat it. It will help you feel better." Lilah was the opposite of hungry until she got a whiff of the hot eggs and sausage on the plate before her. "Why does this sausage make me repulsed and starving at the same time?" Lilah asked.
"Probably because you rubbed yourself all over Shoe's meat last night on the dancefloor. Probably got nice and juicy for you too." Adam chuckled, then opened his mouth which was full of half chewed food.
"I thought gay guys were supposed to be less creepy than that." Lilah resisted the urge to gag. "Maybe some, but not me. Besides, keep your voice down about that, ok? Lord knows what might happen if that got around." Lilah looked around, acting feaux suspicious. "Wait, I thought this wasn't prison... isn't that what you assured me of yesterday?" Adam's expression softened. "I guess it is."
After breakfast Lilah passed privates as they mulled around, Adam tried to convince her to go do something with him, but Lilah was much more interested in seeing every inch of the base that she had not already seen. She had passed CO Schumer once, but he was wih another officer, so the only acknowledgement he gave her was a slight grin and a wink before walking on. Lilah knew that the night before was probably a mistake, if someone caught them she could be in real trouble.
She thought she recalled someone's eyes on them as they danced, but she figured it was probably just her imagination. She was sure no one of real status came to bars like that. And if they did they probably weren't interested in her and Schumer's dance moves anyway.
She went on to wander the vegetable garden, walked around the middle school that was on base, and several other landmarks before heading back towards the training center around sunset.
On her way back she noticed Officer Austin walking towards the training center as well, and stopped to salute him. He gave a quick salute in response, then held the door open for her to enter. She did, and he fell into step behind her.
For some reason it seemed like Officer Austin was even more uptight than he seemed to be the day before. They walked in silence until they reached the office, then he deviated and entered the office without a word. Lilah stopped and was about to say goodbye to the officer but he was already out of sight.
