Chapter 68: Planck Constant Murder Case [SUSPECTION]

Then, we continued interrogating them about each other and the victim.

Based on Jacob, the victim is very conservative and he is a real science freak...

The victim also likes translating someone's name into Japanese style names, cycling, playing tennis, watches, ancient items, and his most favorite, science.

As I asked about the other suspects, he replied that Emily is very close to him, Lily too, It seems like their hearts broke when they saw him die in front of them.

Emily and Lily are already friends even before the five of us met, they said that he helped them once with a project for the company what they are taking care of.

"What kind of project it is?" I asked as I stared at Jacob who is currently sitting in front of me in another room.

"Well, it is a technology company, Sky High Company..." He replied straightforwardly as my face became complicated.

'Sky High, huh? Come to think of it, Emily teared up and Lily cried loudly. Hmm. It seems like there are some special relationships here...'

"How about their jobs and traits?" I sighed inwardly and then noted down the important details.

"Emily and Lily left the company. Lily is now a journalist. I don't know the reason why she left that company, though. Emily always wants to brew her coffee by herself, she also uses a mirror every single minute. She is also courageous and very kind to other people. She became a teacher after leaving the company..."

Lily is a very kind person too. Furthermore, she also liked writing a diary and notes just like what Akihiko likes to do! He has his diary, I suppose."

'Diary? Did the police found that already?'

"Then? How about Jana?" I scratched my chin as I asked the last person. Jana earlier is kind of calm and cold, it seems like she also felt lost from the death of his friend... Plus, even though Jacob and Emily testified Jana's arrival and didn't do anything, she still has the possibility because both she and Akihiko

"Jana? Well, Jana is a doctor and she met us a year ago in Hawaii. Well, she is a perfectionist and a patient person. She is very comfortable to talk to and she is also sympathetic." He smiled widely as he keeps saying it.

'It really gives me creeps while talking about Jana and Lily...'

We left the room and then, the police including the inspector is there, still looking for clues.

"Finished the solo interrogation?" Lemuel angrily asked as he stared at me.

I asked him earlier for my own investigation. They probably have some of their information but I want to know what are they and what are their jobs by hearing them myself.

"Yeah, maybe I should ask you to bring me Emily Rose, next..." I walked towards the door to wait for Emily but I remembered something.

"AH! Did you checked their belongings?" I quickly asked as I looked back to inspector Lemuel.

"Luca listed it down for you..." He replied and Luca immediately handed his police notebook to me and then I read it out loud.

"Jacob's belongings are contract papers, pen, sanitizer, water bottle, handkerchief, wallet, and a flash drive. No poison detected on these items and no files from the flash drive are connected to the murder scene.

Emily's belongings are the mirror, handkerchief, sanitizer, a gift box that contained a watch, examination papers from the nearby school, and her wallet. No poison detected.

Jana's belongings are gloves, sanitizers, handkerchief, face mask, wallet, and some medicines that are not poisonous nor it can cause heart failure, No poison detected.

Lastly, Lily's belongings are a notebook, notepad, a laptop, wallet, and a charger. No poison detected." I immediately thought that something is wrong with their items...

"I see... How about a diary?" Inspector Lemuel quickly replied as he escorted Emily out from the other room.

"Diary? I have that... And it seems like today's entries are not yet written but--" He hesitatingly said as he brought Emily next to me.

"...It seems like it is written in Japanese so we don't know what that meant, But we understood that today's entry is not yet written because he uses the English alphabet for writing his date. Plus, even if he did one, we could've seen the ripped part of the diary." He continued as he handed over the diary to me.

I took the gloves that Luca handed to me and then opened the book.

"It seems like the four of them have their all Japanese-style names," I said as I continued reading the diary with Japanese letters.

"Now, Endou Amaterasu, Sekiguchi Satoshi, Shimizu Yuki, and Mochizuki Kikuko... The only male name here is Sekiguchi Satoshi which is Jacob... As for the other--huh?" My face got complicated as I finally realized what is the hidden message on the message that the victim left for us!

***

After series of solo questioning without the police, I finally knew all of their information.

Jacob Aegle is a real estate agent, Emily Rose Aeliana is a teacher, Jana Clara is a doctor and Lily Hughes is a journalist but something is still bothering me.

I also asked Jana to let me see her phone to check the video that Lily sent to prove Lily's innocence.

But even though it is like that, it seems like there is no one who holds grudge against him. The only thing I can do is to read the diary...

But because of the dying message, three people became suspects but how did the suspect poison?

Plus, one of those three suspects is Jana but she has a solid alibi where she didn't touch anything on the table.

I opened the diary as I sat down on a chair.

I read the contents and skipped a lot of parts.

"It seems like I am right about the special relationship..." The diary indicates that he dated a woman named Endou Amaterasu and they had an argument. This gathering is his way to tell her sorry for what he did.

But when I tried to find what is the thing that he did that made Amaterasu mad and probably held a grudge against him, the page is missing and there is also a mark of ripped paper.

'How can I-- ah!' I immediately remembered that there is a technique that lets you see the recollection of an item. It is given to me by my past self after all.

'I feel like I am cheating but-- I should cheat for this case...'

I closed my eyes as I said, "Lost Recollection"

It is a skill that only works on non-living being things. It can let you see the past form of an object you hold.

I felt my consciousness being dragged by some sort of consciousness and I saw the information about the day missing in the diary.

"I see-- Then, who the hell are Amaterasu, Yuki, and Kikuko out of the three female suspects?" I muttered at the ceiling as I sighed inwardly.

"This case is probably more complicated than I thought it was..." I stood up and left the room to see the murder scene.

I stood there without the body and imagined if I am the murderer, what should I do in order to kill Akihiko.

I can tell how the first three-person can do it but only one person can do it...

"But I don't know if Amaterasu is her... I don't even know what basis is Akihiko using for those names..." I muttered as I looked from left to right.

The living room is here and it is also close to the entrance. Ahead of the living room is the kitchen and the door in front of me is Akihiko's neat room with a lot of watches.

'Watches? Come to think of it, all four of them have wristwatches on their left wrist.'

I stared back once again to the diary to look for more clues...

"Amaterasu...Endou...How about Sekiguchi Satoshi first because I already know who is this person..." I muttered as I stared at the diary while thinking.

"Huh? That's it! But where is the evidence..." I thought as I suddenly heard a police officer saying, "Hey where is your phone?"

"It seems like it is dropped somewhere. It's missing..." The other policeman said as he looked for his phone from his pocket.

"Then, how can we watch the news? We are still going to stay here because we have to..." The first policeman said as he continued, "Then, how about we sneak out?"

"What?! That is crazy!"

'Dropped...missing...watch... and sneak?'

My face smirked as I finally understood what the murderer did!

"Can you call all of the suspects here, inspector?" I said as I smirked towards inspector Lemuel.

"Then that means--" I am just smirking and he quickly understood what my face told him. It is the same smirk I used on revealing the suspect on the first case after all.

"Do you know the murderer?" I replied with a nod to the question given by Luca.

"Do you have evidence?" Luca continued asking as I sat down on the chair near the crime scene and answered, "Of course, everything is now clear. Including how did the killer kill the victim, where is the poison, what is the dying message and what is the motive. It all makes sense now..."

"I see. Then who is it?" Luca asked straightforwardly as she walked towards me.

"Just wait--let the others hear about this too..." I chuckled as I saw the inspector bringing the suspects down.
