The Awakening

Third Person POINT OF VIEW

A group of people is piling outside the library that seems like they were doing something.

"Open the door, Marissa," Seven said as he looked around because their school guard might later catch them.

"Just wait," Marissa said as she searched for the right key to the door. Her hand was shaking because this was the first time she would do this thing that would violate their school rules, and she will surely face a big consequence once they were caught up...

She had just stolen the key of the librarian earlier. Fortunately, they did not get caught.

"Why are you taking so long, Marissa?" Shawna said and snatched the keys from Marissa. "Let me do it!"

Shawna is too nervous that the guard will catch them if they are not going to enter the library at any minute.

"Don't be too loud," Briseis said. "The guard might hear us."

"The guardhouse is a bit far from us," said Bret, who was also watching intently. "And he is always asleep or busy on his phone. Surely he won't throw too much attention if he hears something."

"Whatever," Briseis said. "It's better to be careful, or else we might end up searching for another school."

* Click* the door made a small sound as Shawna had unlocked it.

"Yes!" Shawna whispered. "It's open!"

"Go in," Bret said. "Seven and I will stay here to watch."

"Just look at your cellphone every minute," Seven said to the girls. "And don't put a sound. Turn it to vibrate only. I'll call you when you need to hide or need to leave the library."

Briseis and the other girl nodded, and they entered the library.

The dark surroundings met them.

Marissa turned on the single flashlight they were carrying, and they saw a stack of books on the cabinets.

The flashlight they carry is also weak because it is very used.

"Where is the book?" Shawna asked them.

"As for what I remember, it is in the center of the library since it was the main attraction of this facility," Marissa said. "If we go straight down that hallway, we'll get to it."

"Are you sure?" Shawna asked, ensuring what Marissa has said.

"Yes," Marissa replied. "That's where I saw it earlier."

The surroundings are quiet, and the only sound they can hear inside the library is their whisper.

Shawna hugs herself while they are walking.

"Why is this library giving me chill to my bone?" Shawna said while pushing herself towards her companions. "It is scary."

"Brace yourself, Shawna," Briseis said. "The library is just dark and quiet, and you are not just used to a surrounding like this.

"It just," Shawna said. "It just – it feels like we are in a horror movie."

"Stop with your nonsense," Marissa said. "You are just scaring yourself."

"Look who is talking," Shawna rolled her eyes. "You are also scared. Look at your hand. It is shaking."

Marissa holds her hand, using her left hand to stop shaking.

"It is just that I'm afraid that we are going to be caught," Marissa defended herself. "We might get kick out, and we are going to lose our scholarship."

"That is why we need to be cautious," Briseis said to her friends. "We must find the book quickly so we can leave the school."

After a minute of walking, they stop stepping forwards.

"Wait, where are we?" Briseis asked.

"I do not know," Shawna said. "We just did what Marissa instructed. We walk straight, and we did not take a turn."

"But it seems like we are not reaching the center of the library," Briseis said while wondering.

They are walking for a minute, and she knows that they should have already reached their destination.

She thinks that something is not right.

Marissa turned the flashlight around, and all they can see is big cabinets with a pile of books.

It seems like they lost their way.

"What part of the library is this?" Shawna asked her friends. "I have never seen this part."

"Me too," Marissa said.

They shrugged their shoulders and continue walking, but the path seems unending.

"Do you think we should go back?" Shawna asked.

"Why?" Briseis asked. "We are already here. We should keep doing what we have started."

"I agree with Shawna," Marissa said. "Something is not right. Maybe the demon is playing with us."

"We have to get that book," Briseis insisted. "It is the only way to solve our problems. We need money. Remember why we are here."

"But- BLAGG

A loud bang that seems like something heavy had fallen from above that cut what Shawna was about to say.

The two girls screamed.

Briseis hold their arms tightly.

"Shut up!" Briseis said. "The guard might hear us!"

It was as if the two girls have woken up from screaming and very afraid. They hold Briseis tightly.

"What is that?" Shawna asked her companions.

"Maybe a book just fell." Said Briseis.

"Why would a book will fall?" Shawna asked her friend.

"That thing is not a book," Marissa said in tears. "It looks like a human body that fell from above."

Shawna was frightened by what Marissa said.

Briseis took the flashlight from Marissa and pointed it in the direction where the sound came from.

"There's no one at this school besides the guard and us," Briseis told her friends. "Don't scare yourselves."

"Then what is that?" Shawna asked.

"Cat," Briseis said. "It could be a cat."

"That heavy? I'm sure it's not a cat," Marissa said while looking around. "Let's just go back."

"That's enough," Briseis said. "We are going back with the book."

A cold wind blew into their faces.

Then they heard a sound like a crackle that seemed to be pulling its own body and crawling on the floor.

"Briseis, what is that?" Shawna asked as her eyes widened.

Briseis pointed his flashlight in different directions to find who was and where is the sound is coming from, but they found nothing strange.
