Third Person POINT OF VIEW
Briseis and her friend were silent as they sat in their chairs. They are in class now and they do not understand what their teacher is teaching in front of them.
They are waiting for news regarding the missing book. In fact, they were nervous about what could happen when they found out that they had stolen the book.
Their eyes widened as they stared at the door during class when there was someone knocking on it. It is the librarian of their library.
Their teacher went to the door as their ears seemed to widen to hear what the two were going to talk about but unfortunately, the teacher closed their door so they didn't hear a single word outside.
After a few minutes, they saw in the glass window of the door that their librarian had said goodbye with concern on his face. Their teacher came in and even his face was frowning.
"There was a theft at our school. The crime only happened last night or this morning," their teacher began, making Briseis and her friends nervous. "And the worst thing is, it was the devil's book is what they stole. If they just stole such a normal book, this will never be a big deal. I'm not accusing you, but just in case if the thief is here, I am asking you a favor to return the book. You'd better return it and not use it because it's very dangerous. I'm warning you. Don't you ever open the book!"
The class began to make a noise.
They murmur about what their teacher has said. Some of them were also shocked because they were afraid of that book. Some can't believe what just happened while others don't care at all and some of them just talk about gossips.
While Briseis and her friends can't speak and just staring at each other. As if they were talking using their eyes saying that they should not say anything about it. They were sweating even though the classroom is air-conditioned.
Their teacher looked at them one by one.
He looked at her students one by one to see if anyone was involved. Briseis and her friends noticed this immediately so they acted like they were shocked and talked to each other but their voices were nervous.
Their teacher took a deep breath because she thought no one in her class is suspicious and no one had stolen the book.
The teacher knows about that book and how extremely dangerous it is. She was really surprised that someone would dare to steal it.
She was sure that the outsider of their school also knew that the book had a curse and should not be taken out of its glass box.
Suddenly she was surrounded by fear just by thinking of what was going to happen to the thief once it opens the book.
She doesn't know much about what happened to the former owner of the book but rumors are circulating about it that if you hear it you will definitely have a chill to your bone.
A few minutes later a guard approached their classroom and knocked.
Their teacher opened the door to let them in.
They talked for a while and then the teacher confronted the class.
"Okay class," said their teacher. "Take your bag with you and stand in line in front of our school guard. He will check your bag one by one. Do you understand?"
Briseis was even more nervous when she heard it because inside her bag was the book they were looking for and she hadn't removed it last night. That is her biggest mistake. She was too scared last night because of the whistle and whisper. She didn't even know how that book got to her bag, she clearly remembered that she had given it to Shawna.
She held out her hands that were both cold.
The whole class was even created a louder noise.
"All right," said their teacher. "Line up. Alphabetically!"
Briseis watched her classmates stand as her eyes widened.
Bret noticed that immediately so he approached Briseis.
"Are you okay, Briseis?" he asked in a whisper because he noticed that the girl was restless.
"Don't worry we won't be caught and suspected because we didn't bring the book."
Briseis bit her finger so hard. He couldn't tell Bret she was carrying it.
"Bret and Briseis," their teacher calls them. "Is there a problem?"
"No ma'am," Bret said.
Briseis quickly stood up from the seat.
"Can I go to the restroom?" Briseis asked their teacher quickly.
"Later," said their teacher. "Let us finish this first."
"But I really need to use the restroom ma'am," Briseis blurted out while trying to straighten out her raspy voice.
Her teacher stared at her intently.
"All right," her teacher said to her.
Briseis gripped her bag tightly and stepped away when their teacher spoke.
"Leave that bag of yours here. Just get what you have to take."
Briseis swallowed and had to bring this bag to hide the book she was carrying in the restroom.
Briseis lowered her bag.
If she couldn't take her bag out she would keep the book in her dress.
Briseis opened her bag and looked around. Her classmates were busy talking but when she got her eyes on their teacher she was looking at what she was doing.
When her teacher was noticed that she had stopped, her teacher looked at her.
"Is there a problem, Briseis?" her teacher questioned her as she approaches.
Briseis immediately shook her head and quickly closed her bag.
The teacher was amazed at her attitude.
"Nothing, I will just use the restroom later," said Briseis who had given up trying to hide the book.
She quickly went to the far end of the student's queue and then lined up.
As Briseis got closer and closer to the guard, her heart was beating faster and faster.
She was thinking of a reason to say why she was carrying the book, but no matter how much she hit her head, she could not think of an excuse. Nervous precedes her. They'll just get the book last night and they'll be caught right away.
