4. Age 5-7

After the pool day, the next day, I had to talk to my parents, they asked me why I let the elves swim, then I had to explain how you treat the help, honestly it was like talking to children.

Life went back to usual, I did my daily training, which included pool time now, and each day I would teach two more elves how to swim, and they started to maintain the pool area, without orders.

[One year Later] [1863]

Another year passed and it was my 6th birthday, and my parents got me a training broom. I was ecstatic, not only to fly, but to study it's enchantments.

My training was going good, my mental, physical, and magical strength was of that someone twice my age, and my magical studies are just starting on the fifth year of the Hogwarts curriculum.

Now I just need to find a ten year old to beat up, I mean to spar with.

Ignoring my violent thoughts I looked down at my broom, I gently placed it on to the ground and said. "Up!" I said it as an order and envisioned it rising up into my open hand, and it did!

Then I put it back on the ground, gently.

I then repeated the process except instead of saying up, I thought it loudly 'Up!' the broom flew into my hand again.

I repeated this a few times by saying and thinking random words, and even letters, and it worked every time, when I focused enough, it's hard to think about a broom going up into your hand when your thinking 'left' this made me come up with two theories, it was my magic doing this, unknown to me, doubtful buf not unheard of, or an enchantment that was intent based, instead of a voice activated magic enchantment, if that was even a thing.

I hope it's an intent based rune, I can copy, but if it was, did the enchantment use my magic or ambient magic from the surroundings?

So putting that aside until later tonight, I put one leg over the broom and mounted it, then very gently pushed off from the ground.

I looked down and figured I was roughly 1 meter or 3ft above ground, then I leaned forward slightly and my broom started to pick up speed, and then I was off, I was flying faster and faster until I hit the safety limit of the broom, so I tried going higher, but I couldn't.

Oh well it's still pretty fun even if I can only go a meter(3ft) off the ground and only 10khm(6mph)

I zipped around for a while, wind in my hair, sometime later I landed and dismounted.

I decided to take a closer look at my broom, first the bristles, then all the way up to the handle.

I saw that the handle was inscribed with: McTawny Broomsticks Est. 1702

Made from Hibernian wood

"Fly Higher Than The Scottish Highland"

Wow, still can't believe I'm in the 1860's and reborn in a world of magic, it's a dream come true.

I then cleared my distracted thoughts, I then looked at my broom in my hands, then I focused and moved my magic very slowly and carefully, I didn't want to break my broom. I let my magic gently seep into the broom, this time was much different than looking at dirt.

The broom seemed to have a slight glow, and there were some random shapes and patterns on parts of it, but I still couldn't get a clear enough picture, looks like I'll have to add this to my training routine, I really should have been training it before.

While I was slowly pulling my magic back towards me I noticed not all of it came, and the broom seemed to glow a bit brighter.

I think my theory of the enchantment being powered by ambient mana might be true, and it seems I can infuse more of my magic into it, I'll have to test this carefully, don't want my broom to explode when I'm flying on it.

I'll also need to be careful when trying to engrave runes, I remember reading failed runes can get explosive, and deadly.

I've been advancing smoothly and steadily, and I even got my parents to get me tutors when I turn 7, sure most of its theory, or lessons to manage the house, such as learning noble laws, customs, and traditions, also etique, among other things, but I was able to talk them into letting me get one tutor to teach me practical uses of magic, although i could only choose one branch of magic....for now.

I decided to pick charms, because I remember they are easier, it's a first year class, and there's lots of them to use in different situations

I also wasn't going to be able to use runes for awhile, but I could still study and memorize the ones on my broom, and I'll have to check if my training wand has any runes on it.

For now I was done flying, which was mainly just playing around so I guess it's back to studying, training, and exercising.

I can't wait till I turn seven and can learn some more magic.

[One year later] [1864]

I'm seven years old now.

The night before my birthday my parents let me take my ring off, as it might mess with my magical maturity when I turn seven.

That night I went to sleep and when I woke up I felt full of energy like I was much stronger, but I would need to see how much, by comparing my previous results on my physical and magical exercises.

So the only thing left to do is my scheduled morning training.

I was able to do all my previous workouts barely breaking a sweat, so I decided to increase my weights, more than usual.

When I was 5 I started with 2 pounds total and by just before I turned 6 I was at 10 pounds total, my 6th year I started with 10 and ended with 20 pounds, which was 5 pound weights on each leg and arm for a total of 20 pounds.

Now that I was 7 and had my magical maturity I decided to skip all the way to 40 pounds, which was 10 pounds on each arm and leg.

It's more diffucult than I thought it would be but seeing as I just had a growth spurt and I'm magical, it shouldn't stunt my growth.

Previously I only added a half a pound on each arm and leg so as to not have to big a difference and to not stress my body too much, I don't want to stunt my natural growth. Yet I'm sure I won't have to worry about it, seeing as I'm a wizard, but it's still better to be careful.

The elves also mix in nutritional potions with each meal, so I don't have to worry about a balanced diet.

Now that I was 7 my tutoring would start soon, I'm already on year 7 of Hogwarts curriculum, the 7th year was the most difficult, but I've also just been reading the books memorizing spells, so basically theoretical, but when I start using magic, because of my previous studies, I should be able to learn practical magic much faster.

Also besides the 4 spells I know already, I've been able to learn a few first year spells, and cast them wandlessly, but just a few.

My training wand only allows me to cast the spells for the first two years of Hogwarts, also I haven't noticed myself becoming magically dependent on it.

After all I was able to cast a 'Lumos' just after being born, and I've been training my body and magic everyday. Also it's a training wand so it's probably built different, after all when I picked it up I didn't feel anything like a connection, as described in the stories.

All I felt was when channeling my magic to cast a spell, it flowed through my wand easier.

I wonder if training wands will be different in the future, I guess I'll just have to wait and see what's all different and what's improved and what hasn't.

When casting wandlessly I just start to will my magic to come out of my body, first I used my hands, but I soon began trying to use all over my body and then I was able to do it without focusing on any part of my body and just by focusing on my magic and using my will and intent to get the desired effect. I learned that before my 7th birthday though.

I'm pretty sure living a previous life as a non-magical allowed me to sense and feel and use my magic much easier and more intuitively than someone who has always had it.

Just thinking about all those brats and adults who take their magic for granted makes me angry, but enough about them, I should wash up and get ready for my tutor to arrive.

After getting done bathing and dressing, I went down into our parlor, which is meant for welcoming guest's, to wait for my first tutor.

Soon enough she arrived, as she walked in I greeted her by taking her hand and kissing her knuckles.

My parents had hammered that lesson into my brain, apparently handshakes were frowned upon because they are only meant to sometimes seal a deal. So if you try to shake someone's hand unsolicited they might think you are tricking them into an unfair deal.

First I was confused at the notion, as a handshake had become a common greeting in the future, but I soon adapted and I added handshakes to my list for things to look out for.

The list of thing I need to look out for that might endanger my life I named the Constant Vigilance List!

Now that I was 7 I should start yelling that randomly and let it be known I'm paranoid so much that I always keep constant vigilance. Who knows maybe I could even mentor Alastor Moody so he is even more paranoid and careful, or maybe not, I still haven't decided if I want to change the future or not, after all they win in the end.

Returning from my thoughts I finished introducing myself. "Welcome in to our humble abode, I am Heir Grey of the Ancient and most Noble House of Grey, my full name is Alastair Crowley Grey, may I have the honor of knowing your name?"

The middle-aged woman was around 5'8" and has tied up hair, and wrinkles could be seen around her eyes, but nowhere else on her face, she had blond hair and blue eyes.

She introduced herself. "You may call me Lady Orpington, my full name is Evangeline Orpington, but in our classes you may call me Professor or Professor Orpington, it is my pleasure to meet you Heir Grey."

When she introduced herself she curtsied.

I answered. "Pleased to meet you Lady Orpington, I shall call you Professor, only in a class setting, and may I know which classes you shall be my tutor in?"

She replied. "Yes Heir Grey, as a favor to your parents, I am to be your tutor in the subjects of; Politics, History, Etique, Noble laws, customs, and traditions, magical theory, House & Business Management, and lastly Charms. I also wish to address you as student Grey in a classroom settings if that would be acceptable to you as Heir Grey?"

I responded. "That would be acceptable Lady Orpington. Also I was led to believe I would have multiple tutors for multiple subjects do you know anything about this Lady Orpington?"

She smiled at me. "Yes, I do Heir Grey. When your parents learned that my previous employment had ended some years ago they reached out to me, asking if I would find it acceptable to teach their Heir. I responded in the affirmative and have been enjoying my time off and also been preparing your lessons in advance, as any good teacher ought to do."

I returned her smile. "Lady Orpington, if it's not too forward of me, may I ask what your previous place of employment was, and the nature of your job?"

Her smile grew wider and deeper, and it also seemed like her eyes had started to devolop a twinkle. "Why yes you may Heir Grey, my previous place of employment was the Ministry. As to the nature of my job I was the Minister of Magic."
