She saw me at the door, fully aware of who I was. Her eyes widened as she probably thought I would disperse at the sight of her as she drew near. I knew my pace all right, but after everything I had been through I was most definitely not a meek little mouse anymore and my man new that. He stood right behind the door where I had placed myself. She observed me properly, picking on my faults without so much as a greeting...before laying eyes on the accessories my man made me wear and her eyes flared up in anger "you servant...how dare you forget yourself with such decorations! Have you no shame!" She ran up to me to tear them from me but even the eunuchs intervened on my behalf before she could lay a finger on my person "forgive me my lady, but this happens to be a well-respected lady-in-waiting- to Prince Bang-Gan and the fiancé of the general. She is beloved by the Prince Bang-Won as well and is under their protection. Moreover, the general himself has disallowed anyone to touch her" she got more and more exasperated with every word "and just who am I? I am the Queen's family! How dare you place such respect to this whore who seduced a man of nobility! Or have the brothels run out of rooms for her to want to hatch her nest in the palace!" I just watched her in silence taking all of this in, murmuring loud enough for Seon-Ho to hear about how I always have to deal with one problem after another. I then motioned the eunuchs to return to their place, only enraging her even more.
I could tell she was used to people running away from her path as if she was a devil or something. I approached her with my head held high and my tongue in my cheek "how may I assist you miss?" She raised hell about not liking my tone of voice before asking me why I was here instead of serving the Prince. I informed her that I worked in both places as the Prince had a very slothful schedule. I could tell she was getting pissed when she asked about the duties I carried our for her fiancé and I answered by listing the duties my fiancé trusted me with, which was pretty much everything. But she clearly did not want to loose her cool anymore and she demanded to meet her fiancé. I apologised on his behalf and informed her that he was in currently in a meeting and that he was expecting her in a few hours.
At this point a lot of people had gathered around us, unable to concentrate on their jobs as she had been causing a scene from the moment she set foot in the palace. A couple of maids I knew tried to approach her to try pacify her, and in turn she just slapped them a couple of times each until they were red in the face and in tears. Now she had crossed the line; she came up to me again with such arrogance that she had better pray that she didn't worsen my mood "take me to my room and unpack my things" she threw her things at me feet but I didn't move an inch. "Please wait here so I can bring some assistance" I made my way to pick them up from the floor but she blocked my path. "How dare you refuse my order?" I turned around and faced her so close to her person "this area you are standing on is the territory of my childhood friend and fiancé, not your place of residence. Everything that takes place here must be done at the request of either him or the royal family. Anyone else below them must speak with kindness, lest we confuse them for royals themselves." "How dare you, you whore! I am the master, and you are a mere palace maid only talented enough to seduce powerful men. Today I shall finally put you in your place and teach you rules and etiquette."
She charged over to me again before anyone could stop her but I caught her arm just in time and I slapped her with all of my strength. She actually landed on the ground, looking aghast that her pretty little hands were even on the floor "Are you crazy! How dare you slap me!" "If you want to act like royalty then piss off to the mansion the estate and luxury the Queen handed down to you tax-paying citizens just like me, a servant to the royal family just like me or will your arrogance blind you to that as well? If I am wrong, my superiors will correct me. So when is it your turn to exceed your duties and meddle in the affairs of the finance of the general?" I could no longer hold myself back, and I needed to vent about the situation I found myself in having to share my husband with this witch. "Servants! Come here and slap this whore down! Servants? Servants!" I couldn't help but scoff at her exceeding audacity. No one dared to cross me by trying to help her, no one wanted to. I felt Seon-Ho about to take charge but I reached for his hand behind the door and held onto it tightly, warning him not to involve himself yet. "Miss, if I have not made myself clear yet then let me remind you that we are in the Palace and you are not royalty. You cannot order anyone around here unless servants are assigned to you; do you really need to be taught that by a mere palace maid? I advise you not to wanton here" I walked away and retreated to my room so I could catch my breathe and relax a little, not wanting to see my man until I saw them together.
A few hours later I was informed that the meeting would take place soon but I was too tired to move. Seon-Ho kept sending people to get me but I was getting really tired lately for some reason...and really hungry at the same time. I had fallen asleep for the 4th or 5th time until Seon-Ho finally came to get me himself. He kept trying to wake me up and snatching my blanket like a child until he picked me up in his arms an almost taking me outside in public for all to see. I finally got ready as he dragged me to the Queen's chambers to officially meet with his fiancé. Believe me, no one was happy to see me there. Both the Queen and her...spy both shot me murderous looks as my man made his way to sit with her and the monk sited between the both of them. This was their first meeting; Kang Nam-Kyu took one look at my man who was really very handsome and her eyes lit up, much to my annoyance. I pinched him as a warning to behave and I could tell that he was trying to stifle his laughter. "So...you are Nam Seon-Ho? The youngest army general in history?" I was getting annoyed at her silky tone of voice and I wasn't the only one.
He ignored her completely, not even looking at her as he waited for the Queen's instructions, who was in turn waiting for him to converse with her relative but it wasn't happening. This seemed to annoy her and both her and the Queen seemed hell-bent on taking their anger out on me but Seon-Ho kept answering back to the requests for me too many times for them to continue.
The monk then started getting their information so he could make his predictions. I was made to serve the tea for everyone and I could tell from the looks I was receiving from everyone that Seon-Ho was just watching me and not paying the slightest attention to his bride-to-be at all until she screamed for me to be removed from the room, after the monk gave her disappointing results. I made my bow and I was just about to leave when Seon-Ho announced to the monk that I was also his bride and he wanted to hear our predictions. The Queen almost got up in fury when he suggested this and accused him of abusing his position until Prince Bang-Won entered the room unannounced. The look on his face told everyone that he had heard the predictions of the marriage which shut the Queen up instantly as he ordered to the monk to go head with my own predictions. Kang Nam-Kyu got out of her seat in indignation as I readied myself. This was something that we had planned to do soon but of course my man could't help but take advantage of every situation, this was so typical of him. We were both in our own world until I got my results "Unfortunately the previous young lady has a blood disorder that will make it very hard for her to conceive children and ringing poor luck into her husband''s home. This young lady however is different. Her core energy has changed midway; she will conceive at least 2-3 sons and will both bless and prosper her marital home."
We were both in silent tears, overwhelmed in our happiness...but there was something I had to get off my chest before it drove me out of my mind with guilt; I asked him if epilepsy was genetic with bated breath and my eyes closed, expecting to hear the worst. But the monk simply chuckled and reassured me that it was a mild genetic disorder, even lower if it came from the mother. I felt like a huge weight had been lifted off of my shoulders and I almost fainted with relief. I actually did and the next thing I knew I was in my bed with a wet compress on my forehead and my man was passed out next to me in my bed. I just watched him for a while; at my love, my good fortune and my future before I planted a kiss on him and enveloped myself in his embrace.
