Special Breed

As the rains descended the earth, Victoria cursed the circumstances but that was that. The clouds have been pouring for the past hours now and her garment had gotten stuck to her body like glue. Anyone who saw her now would literally consider her naked. Linen was never a good choice of fabric to wear in cold weather.

She hopped the horse onto a shade nearby; a tree with pretty broad leaves. Too tired to make out the kind it was, she let the horse rest but her throat began to burn sore again.

Dammit.

If she'd known she would not have dismissed Abel so simply. Now she missed him and because the nearest village seemed miles away. She was practically surrounded by woods and more woods. Bushes everywhere with needle-sharp leaves.

She needed a catch.

As Victoria peered her eyes about, she gave up on expecting to find another human being to feed on.

-'Maybe the animals would not taste so bad. But not my horse. I need him fit for the walk.'
