Start of A Show

POV Sapphire:

I walk off the airship along with the few others that were on board, likely students returning from the city, and take in a breath of fresh morning air. The sight from the landing is impressive, to say the least. A grey brick pathway, lined with lamp posts and greenery, leading up to a grand wood doorway to the academy, all surrounded by light grey archways lining the perimeter.

"Ahem, Miss Sapphire, I am Professor Goodwitch, and Professor Ozpin has asked me to help you drop off your luggage before leading you to Beacon cliff for your initiation, follow me." A familiar blonde huntress informed, startling me. She had, after all, approached me without my notice, as I was distracted.

"Yes, Professor," I reply without any fuss, as there would be no point in doing so.

Professor Goodwitch then proceeds to turn around without a word and head toward the entrance. I follow as told, more than a little curious as to what Ozpin has planed for my initiation.

---------------------------------------------------

-Whoosh

I hear the wind blow as Professor Goodwitch and I reach the cliffside. I see Ozpin standing in front of some square platforms.

Noticing our approach, he gestures to one of the platforms and says, "Stand there,"

I do as instructed, and Professor Goodwitch walks over to stand with Ozpin.

"With that out of the way, we shall inform you of what your initiation will entail," he starts, to which I nod silently.

Professor Goodwitch then speaks, "After this initiation, should you pass, you will be assigned to an already existing first-year team."

"The members of this team will be with you for the remainder of your time here at Beacon, so it is in your best interest to be with a team with whom you can work well, that being said you will have no knowledge of the members of the team to which your assigned," Ozpin states, making me a little nervous.

"You will be making your way to the northern end of the forest. You will meet opposition along the way. Do not hesitate to destroy everything in your path, or you will die." he continues, highlighting the seriousness of this test.

"You will be monitored and graded for the duration of your initiation, but there will be no intervention. You will find an abandoned temple at the end of the path containing several relics, you will choose one and then return to the top of the cliff. We will then grade you appropriately based on your performance." Ozpin says, finishing his explanations.

"Any questions?" He askes but without giving me any time to respond immediately continues, "Good now ready yourself."

Seeing as any words would be meaningless, I put on my mask and pull up my hood. I then draw my sword with my right hand in a reverse grip and move my right foot forward while bending my knees slightly.

Seeing as I am prepared, Professor Goodwitch activates the platform beneath me, sending me flying toward the forest below.

--------------

I order to get further into the forest I use a burst air to boost myself forward at great speeds, and then, when I drop below the tree line, I use Ice to make a slide which I use to gently convert my downward momentum into forward momentum. Using the forward momentum I hit the ground running, and take off northward.

POV Ruby:

After a near sleep-inducing first-period class with Professor Port, seriously how can a teacher be this boring, I head out with Yang, Weiss, and Blake, intending to make our way to our next class when we hear a voice over the intercom.

"Will all first-year students gather in the auditorium, I repeat, will all first-year students gather in the auditorium," The voice said.

"What do you think this is for?" I hear my sister ask.

"I have no idea, but let's go find out, shall we?" I reply Getting nods from all three of my teammates.

---------------------------------------------------------

As we enter the auditorium, I see many students are already inside. After looking around, Yang spots team JNPR standing in the crowd.

"Look, it's team Juniper, lets go see if they know what's going on," Yang suggests.

"Great Idea, let's go," I reply, and quickly make my way over.

"Hey guys," I say to get their attention.

"What's up, Ruby," Jaune greets back, as the Pyra, wave Nora wave, and Lie nods.

"Nothing, we were just wondering if you guys knew what was going on," I say back.

"Well sorry to disappoint but we are just as clueless as you," Jaune speaks with a self-deprecating chuckle.

Seeing as there is no point in asking anymore, we talk for a while as more students trickle in. After a few minutes, people stop coming in, and a few minutes after that Professor Port comes on stage and approaches the microphone.

-Ahemconcluded

Profesor Pord clears his throat, causing everyone to go silent.

"Now, I know there is some confusion as to why you have been gathered, but rest assured there is nothing to be concerned about. This is simply a gathering to watch something of a demonstration. Ah, speaking of demonstrations, I remember a t--" Professor Port says into the microphone.

Just when it seems he is about to tell another one of his stories, he is interrupted by a signal from Professor Oobleck who is off stage, much to the relief of everyone here.

Noticing this "Oh, well, it seems everything is ready, so, without further ado. Here it goes," Professor port informed before vacating the stage.

The lights in the room dim, and some screens are brought up depicting a familiar cliff face. It was Beacon cliff, overlooking the location of our initiation, The Emerald Forest. The scene looks almost exactly like it was for our initiation; the only key difference being, instead of the jump pads being full, only one is now.

I stiffen as I recognize the one on the pad.

"What is she doing here?!" I whisper, but not quietly enough, as the rest of my team heard me.

"What, do you know this person?" Weiss asks, unable to contain her curiosity. Yang and Blake turn their attention to me expectant of an answer.

"Well, I don't really know her, but I did meet her, kinda," I answer, but that does little to alleviate the curiosity of Weiss and Blake. It does however seem to spark a look of recognition in Yang's case.

"Ooooh, Is she….?" Yang asked, seeking authentication.

"The woman from the roof? Yes, I think so, but why would she be doing a demonstration here at Beacon," I say as I grow even more confused.

"Hmm, I don't know, maybe to show us how a proper huntress would handle the initiation," Yang replies with uncertainty.

"Hold up, What woman from what roof?" Weiss asks, slightly irritated from being left out of the loop.

"Yeah, you two are making no sense" Blake follows up.

"Um, remember when Rubes told you how she got into Beacon," Yang speaks slowly while gathering her thoughts.

"Yes, she got invited by Proffesor Ozpin after defending a dust store from thieves, but what does that have to do with this person" Weiss states confused.

"Yes, well, she is the second person who attempted to save me from being blown up by a dust crystal," I clarify.

"I see, but why would you be confused about her being here, then," Blake says still confused.

"Yea, she's likely a Huntress, so your sister is probably right here. She was probably hired to give an example of what a professional would do in this situation." Weiss says, seemingly coming to a conclusion. Satisfied with that answer Yang, Weiss, And Blake return their attention to the display.

"But it doesn't make sense, Ozpin said that she wasn't a huntress," I whisper under my breath, but push my thoughts aside and put my attention on the display.
