A Small Misunderstanding

POV Ruby:

It took me far longer than I thought it would talk to the dorm manager. As it turns out she is very similar to Professor Port in that they both love to tell stories. Why should I have to listen to the romantic escapade of your huntress career, Ms. Amra? Is that even something you are able to talk about with students? Ugh, I was barely able to get out of there alive.

I make my way back to the dorm, but as I turn the corner of the hallway the new dorm is on Weiss brushes past me with her head down. I turn around to call out to her, but she doesn't even notice me.

"Okay, that was weird," I say to myself.

I'll ask her what was going on later, but for now, I head back to the room. I quickie come upon my room's door and unlock it with my scroll.

"I'm back," I call out as I open the door, but there was no response.

I immediately notice why, however, when I fully open the door and come face to face with Yang in bed with Sapphire.

I grow a little angry at my sister's apparent actions, so I go up to her, and shake her awake.

Yang POV:

I am suddenly awakened, and when I open my eyes I am face to face with Sapph, who is stirring in her sleep. It seems we've somehow managed to stay attached to each other even though we were both asleep.

"Ahem," I hear Ruby clear her throat from behind me.

With this, I realize what's going on. Ruby walked in and saw Sapph and me in bed together. We are here sleeping in an embrace with disheveled clothing. I must admit this looks rather damning.

"Ruby, It's not what it looks like!" I say as I turn around and get up.

Try to at least, as when I turn around her grip tightens around my waist, and the sleeping Sapph cuddles into me. While Sapph is treating me like a stuffed animal, Ruby's expression darkens a little.

"Really Yang... You just met," Ruby seems to have confirmed her suspicions as she looks at me with disappointment in her eyes.

"No! You're wrong! Nothing happened!" I defend myself, but I feel movement from behind me.

"Yang, why are you yelling?" I hear Sapph ask in a sleepy voice, and I am finally released from my captor's arms.

"Oh, Ruby. Welcome back, did you finish your business with the dorm manager?" She asks unaware of Ruby's assumptions of what happened between us.

"It went okay, but Sapphire, quick question. Did you and Yang, you know, do anything after we left?" Ruby asks while beating around the bush.

"Hmm? Well, we talked for a while, and then I started crying, she held me and we fell asleep? I don't think anything else happened, why?" Sapphire spoke innocently.

"Uh, well, I was just, curious that's all, but what were you talking about?" Ruby not one for embarrassing topics like this avoided answering that question and changed the subject.

"Uh, well, Yang asked about my picture," She said with an awkward smile and pointed at the picture I set on the bookshelf.

"Oh, can you tell me about it too?" Ruby said genuinely curious.

"Uhhhh, I have to go bring my weapons to my rocket locker. You can ask Yang," She straightens out her uniform and hair before pushing the topic onto me and rushing out the door with her weapons and a piece of paper.

Ruby then looks at me, and says, "Well?"

"Haah, okay. Sit down." I say and reach for the picture.

POV Sapphire:

After I escaped the room I made my way through the school. The locker rooms were in the main school building, whereas the dorms are their own separate structures. It's not a long walk to the school building, but it will take a few minutes.

I admire the scenery as I make my way through the academy grounds, and stop when I come upon the fountain in front of the entrance. I didn't get a chance to, really, look at it. The statue has two hooded figures, one male and one young female, perched on a rock above a Beowolf. I don't get the point of this statue, but I guess it might not have one. It is just decoration after all, and regardless it is very well made.

After admiring the statue for a little, I make my way into the academy. Before I noticed the sparse foot traffic quickly escalated to crowds of students wandering the halls. The near-silence made way for the conversations of students as they made their way to their next class. It is a different atmosphere from what I am used to.

I've never been to anything remotely close to a school. At the facility, tutors taught us only what they deemed necessary, and after I escaped, I wandered until I found that cabin. I lived there for four years, alone, and now here I am in a school filled with people. The difference is jarring, but I like the atmosphere.

There's no worrying whether you are going to survive past tomorrow.

There's no grief over who you will lose next.

No terror of what you know the future will bring.

It's wonderful.

I enjoy the peaceful environment and meander my way down the halls, and into the locker room.

I am greeted by a massive concrete room with large windows that sit very high off the ground. The beige walls are lined with hundreds of grey lockers. Hung on the walls are blue banners featuring Beacon's crest. These banners are hung all over the school.

I look at the piece of paper that was with my provided school supplies. It had both an explanation of how the lockers work and the number of my assigned locker.

"732, huh," I mutter.

I look at the lockers closest to the door to see all of them in the single digits.

"Haah," I sigh as I realize that I am going to have to walk quite a ways before I reach my locker.

----------------------------------

"726, 727, 728, 729, 730, 731, and 732, haah, finally," I count out and then sigh as I reach my locker.

I unlock the locker with my scroll and open the door. Inside the locker are racks designed to hold weapons of similar design to my own as well as room to store spare armor. The type of weapon a student wields likely plays a role in what locker they are assigned. I store my weapons and close the locker door, locking it.

However, before I can make it out of the locker room I hear a male voice, "Haah, time for another beatdown in combat class, I really don't belong here, do I?" and I just couldn't mind my business.
