I slapped that woman so hard that she almost fell on the bar counter, but I caught her before she fell and hit her forehead and I saw the fainted delicate girl in my arms. she didn't look like a cruel person, she looked so innocent and naive that I almost regretted hitting her.

"Sir ..she has fainted, it would be better if we call a doctor before we take her into custody," my subordinate Sophia told me taking her from my hold, for some odd reason I was reluctant to let her go, what's wrong with me today?? I hate women and especially a woman like this...

Sophia laid that girl on the couch in a private room. I took a closer look at that girl and saw a bruise forming on her rosy pale cheek, she looked so delicate like she would break if someone hardly pushes her, she is like those glass dolls which breaks easily, is this girl really capable of smuggling drugs??

"umm..sir, she doesn't look good its better to call a doctor now," Sophia said checking that girl, "ok... I will call Dylan then," I said and called my friend Dylan who's also our staff physician, Dylan reached the bar in a few minutes and checked Elena.

"Her glucose levels are low, looks like she didn't eat anything today, maybe that's why she has fainted, I have given her an injection she will wake up in a few minutes," he said and went to speak with Sophia leaving me alone with Elena.

when I saw the beautiful girl lying on the couch with a bruise on her cheek, unconsciously my hand went to her bruised cheek, for some unknown reason I got angry with myself for hurting her like that.

she slowly opened her eyes and got panicked seeing me and shrunk away seeing my hand on her cheek, I immediately withdrew my hand and walked out, what's wrong with me?? why did I touch her?? am i getting soft-hearted these days??

I came out of the room and saw my team member Rachel crying, I didn't understand why she was crying so much, "Jack..why is she crying? she was fine a few minutes before?" i asked Jack at which he looked at her sadly and said, "That guy is her brother sir..she didn't know till now that he is dead".

Rachel is an honest officer and a good friend of mine, but I didn't know that her brother joined our team till today, I felt ashamed of myself for not protecting my team member and saw Elena who is the sole reason for all of this walking out of the room slowly.

Rachel immediately went to her and held her cuffed hands harshly and dragged her to the dead body "look... take a closer look at the face of an officer who lost his life because of your greed for money ..I would really like to see how do you face yourself in the future when you remember his face" she said shoving her head closer to the rookie guy's face, while she was struggling to look away and crying. unconsciously i fisted my hands seeing what's happening but couldn't move seeing Rachel and her brother.

"Rachel...hey...leave her, we can't hurt her like this, please control yourself" two of my team members grabbed her from behind making her lose her hold on Elena, I saw Elena still kneeling before the dead body and not doing anything before she was struggling to get away from the dead body but she fell silent all of a sudden.

Rachel pushed the two guys who were holding her and grabbed Elena by her hair and kicked her in the guts making her fall to the ground, but that girl didn't cry or utter a single word, blood started dripping from her side lip and forehead, I felt bad seeing her like that and I was about to help her get up but jack immediately went to her and helped her get up "I am sorry for your loss Rachel, but torturing this girl won't bring your brother back" he said looking at both of us and took her away.

After we were done with the formalities at the crime scene, I went outside and about to sit in my vehicle but stopped after seeing Elena sitting in my vehicle with her hands cuffed, blood dripping from her forehead and side lip, I felt really pity seeing her like that, why am i feeling pity for a criminal?? I shouldn't be emotional while doing my duty I thought.

"officer jack why is she sitting in my vehicle, make her sit in any other vehicle" I told him seriously.

"sir she is the only lead we have got in Simon Garcia's drug racket case, they will definitely try to kill her to get rid of the evidence, so it would be better if she travels with you" he said, for some reason I didn't like the thought of someone killing Elena miller, what's wrong with me today, she is a suspect of a drug racket, the reason behind my team member's death, how can I treat her different from other criminals.

I sighed and sat on the driver's seat, took out my cell phone, and dialed one of the team members with Officer jones in the hospital.

"Hello...Andrew, yeah it's me..how is Mr.jones now" I asked looking at the girl sitting beside me who's still silent and looking down.

"He is fine now sir, he is out of danger," he said making me feel relieved.

"okay..call me if you guys need anything and inform his family members" I said and hung up the call and took some tissues from the dashboard.

"Here..wipe your blood and stop acting innocent, nobody's gonna buy your act," I said throwing the tissues on her lap and started driving.

while I was driving I got busy with the calls and didn't observe Elena, when I saw her after a few minutes her forehead was still bleeding and the blood fell all over her lap and the car, I stopped the car immediately looking at the sight.

"Are you out of your mind? or you are still acting, I don't care about you but I don't want my car to be stained, now wipe off your blood" I said giving her more tissues but she didn't hold them, I tried to put them in her hand but she left them breathing slowly, what's wrong with her, is she acting or did something really happened to her??

I immediately turned my vehicle and took her to the nearest hospital. They took her into the emergency ward and I have waited for 30 minutes outside, I didn't know why but I was getting impatient to know her condition, then I saw the doctor coming out.

"What's wrong with her? is she ok?" I asked him, at which he smiled a little and said"Don't worry officer ..we have dressed her wounds, they will heal in a week but she went into shock, it will take some time for her to become normal"

"why would she go into shock? ?" I asked him at which he shook his head and sighed.

"People go into shock for many reasons but in this girl's case she experienced severe emotional disturbance, when you brought her here she was breathing slowly and her blood pressure level dropped, if you didn't bring her here on time she would have slipped into coma" he said giving me a prescription and went inside.

so..she has experienced severe mental disturbance?? what Rachel and I have done to her was wrong, no matter what she has done, we didn't have any right to treat her like that" i thought and immediately went to the pharmacy and bought the medicines.

I remembered Officer Jones was also admitted in the same hospital so I went to see him, he was lying on the bed and watching some football match on the tv while eating an apple.

"So i was unnecessarily worried about you huh..you look like you are really enjoying your hospital time " I said entering inside at which he scoffed.

"Don't you have any manners commander Smith, you are visiting a patient without fruits or flowers?" he asked eating an Apple, I saw many fruits, flowers, and soup boxes on the side stand.

"I see that you have already been visited by your female friends, why do you need me to bring you fruits??" I said taking an apple and eating and he rolled his eyes "you always take the limelight with your heroic operations, let me enjoy being in limelight for once Adrian" he said grabbing some grapes from the fruit basket.

"Alright then..enjoy your limelight, I am glad that you are ok bro, next time don't get yourself killed ok?" I told him at which he smiled and said" Whoa..am I really alive?? because I am seeing things like the famous cold-hearted police commander Adrian smith is getting soft-hearted".

"I expect you to recover and report ASAP officer Jones, we still have to catch this gang and let me remind you that we have failed in our mission today, so next time we have to be more careful" i said seriously at which he got nervous and tried to sit right but i stopped him and said smiling"do you still think I got soft-hearted??"

"Huhh..no way, you are still the same cold-hearted Adrian smith," he said leaving a breath of relief, I was about to leave but he stopped "They were saying you have arrested some pretty girl..is she that beautiful ??" he asked winking.

"Well I don't know about her beauty but she is really an important clue which can lead us to Simon Garcia," I told him seriously at which he nodded "We will catch that bastard together brother, you are not the only one who has some personal score to settle with him" he said getting serious from his usual cheerful self.

"I would never forget what he and my so-called sister did and I will never forgive her" he said angrily.

"Luke ..brother..look, you don't have to hold a grudge against your sister for me, she has the right to choose whoever she wants to date, this war is between me and Simon Garcia, so I don't think you should hate your sister" I told him patting his shoulder.

"Sister ??..that woman has lost that right the moment she sold our confidential documents to that bastard," he said looking away angrily.

"Alright..now, forget it and..focus on your recovery, we need to catch that bastard remember.." I told him at which he nodded and said "with pleasure brother"

I left Lucas to his football match and went to the room where Elena was admitted. when I opened the door but she was not there, I knew it...I f***ng knew it, she was acting all the time and now she has escaped...Elena Miller, you are dead this time..
