Just a relaxing day

The doors opened to reveal a majestic, sumptuous library filled with a vast array of books. Floating bookshelves, dark mahogany floors and a huge skylight in the middle of the library.

"Wow. This library is amazing!" Annie exclaimed running in. She giggled and looked around in awe.

"Dude, you didn't say your library was so grand?!" Matt laughed.

"Is it really? Well I mean, I've seen way better libraries, so I didn't think my library was that special." Ollie replied laughing.

Maddie on the other hand remained standing outside the doors, her mouth was wide open. She could not believe she had outrightly insulted the library before she had seen it and it just happened to be the more splendid library she had ever seen.

"Looks like someone is forced to eat her words." Matt laughed snapping Maddie out of her daze.

"Whatever, it's not my fault, it's the blondie's fault, he tricked us into thinking that his library was going to be boring." she replied walking in. She felt the air change as soon as she did.

It was as if there was some cool conditioning in the library that made it colder than the outside.

"Sure, it's my fault for not controlling your thoughts and words." Ollie said sarcastically as Annie laughed.

"Your library is really cool Ollie." Annie said still looking around in awe, she just loved books, and loved libraries, and this had to be the coolest library she had ever seen in her entire life.

"I'm glad you think so Annie." Ollie smiled at her.

"But wait, we've been in the castle's library before, and it definitely did not look like this." Maddie said.

"Oh well, that's just the general library where all the archives and ancient texts are kept. This is my personal library, I filled it with plethora of collections of books I found interesting. I even have a human fiction section, it's right over there." Ollie said pointing to the back of the library.

"Oh my goodness, this is seriously so cool." Annie squealed like a child in a candy store.

"I'm happy you think so." Ollie smiled, he felt so excited to finally be able to share this side of himself. The avid reader side.

"Wait, so you have every piece of literature here?" Maddie asked.

"Well not really, I'm still collecting, for example my human fiction section only has one hundred books, it kind of hard to collect them when you've never been over there." he laughed sheepishly.

"So you have vampire fiction, werewolf fiction and witch fiction?" asked Maddie.

"Yes I do, those are really easy to get considering we are all just neighbours." Ollie replied.

"So which books did you get from our realm?" Annie asked.

"Well I don't think my collection from your realm is really impressive." Ollie said embarrassed.

"It doesn't matter, I don't care." Annie said.

"But I do mind, how about I show you that later?" asked Ollie.

"Oh alright then." Annie smiled, she did not mind that Ollie was not comfortable enough to show them, they would do it later.

"So what exactly are we doing to do in this library all day?" Maddie asked.

"Well what exactly do people do in libraries?" Ollie asked.

"It depends on what kind of library you are referring to because some people poop in libraries, make out in libraries some even get pr—"

"Maddie!" Annie shouted silencing her, she already knew where this conversation was going and she preferred it did not go there.

"You could not just be civil for once." Matt exclaimed shaking his head.

"Hey, the world isn't all rainbows and unicorns, it's teenage relationships, anger and s—"

"Maddie, stop it." Annie cut her off again.

"Honestly, I wonder how you three have managed to stay friends for so long." Ollie said. Annie and Matt were so nice and well Maddie... she was... the opposite of nice.

"It's because we have a good connection blondie." Maddie replied.

"Besides that, I was running away from Azazel and had nowhere else to go so..." Maddie added.

"Yeah, that makes sense." Ollie said.

"I was making a joke blondie, we stayed friends because we're good friends." she replied.

"Okay, well, we're going to read in the library, which is what normal people do in a library." he said as Maddie laughed, she had to admit, she liked his sense of humour, instead of shunning her like Annie and Matt did.

"Alright, alright, fine." Maddie said.

"So grab any book you want and let's get reading." Ollie said.

"Which book do you recommend I read Ollie?" Annie asked.

"Well, I really do not have one favourite book. I have many, what would you like to ready about?" Ollie asked.

"Well fiction and I want it to be funny." Annie said.

"I have the perfect book for you. This is the story of Cypy, he's an old witch's tale that parents used to tell their children to stop them from stealing." Ollie said.

"That doesn't sound funny, if anything it sounds scary." Maddie said lazily looking through the shelves.

"Oh but it is, trust me, you will be laughing every with every page you turn." Ollie said.

"Oh well okay, if you say so, then I'll read it." Annie smiled.

"Great." Ollie said he raised his hand and a book flew from the shelf right into his hand.

"Here." He said handing her the book.

"Thank you." Annie said and with that she walked to the couch and sat down on the rug with her back rested against the base of the couch.

"What do you want to read Matt?" Ollie turned to Matt who was looking through the shelves.

"I am probably going to read about the history of vampires. Do you have a book like that here?" he asked.

"Of course I do, it's in that shelf right there on the left." He pointed as Matt jumped and picked out the book.

"Show off." Maddie scoffed.

"You know you like it when I show off." Matt replied as Maddie scoffed and Annie laughed and shook her head.

"Whatever." Maddie said ignoring him. Matt laughed and walked to sit beside Annie.

"What are you looking for Maddie? I can help." Ollie asked.

"Well I want to read about werewolves. It just occurred to me that I basically know nothing about them." Maddie said.

"Really? I thought that would not be the case considering your last name is wolf." Annie laughed.

"Not funny, I honestly don't know why my last name is Wolf. I think that Azazel just chose the most random word as his last name." Maddie said shaking her head.

Ollie laughed, Maddie wasn't wrong, her last name was truly misleading.

"If it bothers you so much, would you ever consider changing it?" Matt asked.

"No way, I would never change my last name." Maddie said.

"Why not?" Ollie asked.

"It's a part of my, it's literally my identity, would you ever change your last name?" Maddie ask directing the question to every one of them.

They all shook their heads. It was not even an option, your last name was just something so special to you.

"Exactly, it doesn't matter if Azazel was probably not serious when he chose the name, but I wasn't born then, I was born after and this is my identity, it's my last name and I wouldn't change it for anything." Maddie said seriously.

"Not even if you get married?" Ollie asked out of curiosity.

"Firstly, I have no plans of getting married anytime soon." Maddie said.

"Secondly, I'm not that type of traditional girl who will drop her last name when she gets married, I'm going to keep it."

"That's not surprising." Annie said.

"True, but I think you're being too rash, I've heard people say the same thing and yet when they meet the right person, they change." Ollie said.

"Then they must not be really sure of what they want." Maddie said.

"There's no way I would change my last name for anyone. You guys don't get it, you don't have to drop a part of you, we girls have to." Maddie said. "Back me up here Annie." she said.

"I have to agree, it's true, it's like we have to leave a part of ourselves when we get married, even though I don't mind changing my last name for someone I really love." Annie said.

"But I do get what you mean Maddie." Annie said.

"I get it as well, but you seem to forget you can hyphenate your last names or join them, if you're not okay with changing it." Matt said.

"True." Ollie said.

"Honestly, I don't think that something as trivial as a last name should be a big fight in a relationship." he said.

"There are many more important things to focus on rather than a last name, I don't mind dropping my last name for the girl I love." Ollie said.

"That's not true blondie, you're just saying that right now." Maddie said shaking her head, she could not believe him.
