“Who are you?” he demanded roughly, ripping off her mask. The movement caused his weapon to nick her skin and a warm rivulet of blood trailed down the side of her neck.

Her voice trembled slightly. “I-Inka…Your Majesty,” How pitiful she sounded! Yet, it couldn’t be helped. 

The Emperor’s name was whispered in fear and reverence. Lying here beneath his hefty weight and broad shoulders, she sensed his prominence ─ strong, dangerous, and uncompromisingly masculine. 
Inka was apprehensive but, she recognized a virile male in him – a desirable mate. 

He must have seen something in her eyes because his own glittered dangerously – like an animal reacting to its own.

Thank you, dear reader for picking up this novel. Officially, this was the first story I have ever written in 2017. Back then, I thought this story would never see the light of day but, to think it's published now in 2021...I am entirely grateful. Even though I write for fun, sometimes it can be demotivating when no one reads your story.


Kingdom of Xi is based on my love for historical/period romances and heavily inspired by japanese mangas. There were plenty of ups and downs when I wrote this and I had to revise several parts in this published edition. I wished I had actually done a more detailed plot back then like I am doing for my newer novels, but I guess the first time for everything doesn't always work out as you wish. Nevertheless, I hoped that it still entertained you.


But, I'm happy that I have concluded Inka and Kyoutarou's story. Originally, I had wanted to write a trilogy based on the four Kings (yes, I was being ambitious), that being the reason I had Shuhei conclude the ending prior to the five year time-skip. The next novel was supposed to feature Shuhei and Kira's story. Who knows, perhaps one day I might revisit this couple and finally write out their story. And personally, I have a soft spot for Akio's character. In the initial plot, I left him alive but, after revising the newer edition...it just felt RIGHT to let him go.
