CHAPTER TWENTY

Wangzi gasped at what he saw. Guafu looked at him.

"Is he okay?"

"He....he's awake"

What?! Guafu looked at him, eyes wide in shock and disbelief.

"Are you sure?"

He nodded. Zixin didn't even complete a full day in that pit!

"How....how can this be?"

Just then the locust comes running towards him, it looked like it was scared. Wangzi had to coddle it for a moment until it calmed down.

Guafu was also shocked. Could it be that Zixin was as powerful as Huli said?

A powerful aura filled the cave making the two men shudder and be on alert. They watch the covered pit.

"He's coming" Wangzi whispers.

A gentle breeze blows the white cloth and a stand comes out. It was muddy and dirty. Then someone crawled out.

Zixin coughed a few times before taking in the fresh air. He staggers to his feet and looks ahead, he could see Guafu and Wangzi looking at him.

"Hey guys"

The two were dumbfounded. Hey guys? That's all he could say?!

"Zixin.....how are you feeling?" Wangzi asks wearily.

He shrugged. After the whole thing he realized it was all a dream.

"I'm fine just a little tired"

"Why was your memory filled with me?"

Lan Fei choked on his food. It's dinner time at ZhangShi sect and Hua Ling was with his friend at a small restaurant in the main city.

"They were? Maybe it's because we talk alot"

Hua Ling sighed. Lan Fei couldn't even look at him.

"Could it be that...you-"

"Never mind that Hua Ling. Let's just eat and go back to help the young masters" Lan Fei interrupts.

He sighed again. Clearly his friend was hiding something. But he'll leave it alone...for now.

Jiang Ji shuddered as he looked outside the balcony. Something was out there, he couldn't tell if it was evil or not.

"Big brother....are you okay?"

He turns around and sees Xin Ai at the door. He smiles.

"Sure, do you want to play a game of chess?"

They sit down and Jiang Ji restarts the board. Xin Ai sighs.

"The boy you mentioned, what trouble is he in?"

"He...he was pulled into a lake by a snake"

"What? Shouldn't that be your first priority? What if-"

"He's fine....once i solve this case I'll go back for him"

The young general sighs.

"What if he leaves? What will you do then?"

He never thought of that...

"I'll let him be"

"Just like that?"

"Just like that"

Huli arrived at the cave with some wild Guinea hens she had caught during her hunt. That's what she did to pass the time during the day.

"Zixin is out already?" She asks once she sees the boy across the cave looking at the fire. Guafu nods and gives her a report.

Once he was done, she was shocked. Zixin was really special.

"Wei Zixin, are you hungry"

He shook his head. There's only one thing in his mind right now,

"I want to go home"

She sighed.

"Are you sure?"

"YES I WANT TO GO HOME!"

everyone gasped when his eyes turned silver for a moment. The fox nodded quickly.

"Okay, I'll help you out"

Wangzi and Guafu were dumbfounded. Zixin was going to leave? Just like that?

"Huli....are you really letting him go?"

"Yes. He needs to be calm otherwise his powers might overtake him. I'm letting him leave"

They watched the two of them walk out the cave without a word. Huli gave Zixin the fan he wanted to take the other day.

"Take this....it's not a mystical weapen but I'm sure you'll make it into one"

He nods and watches her raise her hand. The water above them parts making way for Him. He looks at her.

"Is this real?"

She chuckles and nods.

"It's real, you're free"

He crawls his way out, he finds himself on the surface of the murky water so he swims to the land. Once his feet touch the ground he yells,

"JIANG JI!!!"

"I can't believe you let him go like that"

Huli sighed as she sat down. She rubs her temples.

"Let him be, he didn't want to be here in the first place. We should move on with our plan. Wangzi the rainy season is over, time to let your locust feed on the weeds"

"I'll be on it first thing tomorrow"

"Guafu, send one of your spiders to Li Shizu sect. I heard some commotion there, make sure everything is undisturbed there"

"On it"

Once they disperse she thinks about Zixin. What could've the boy seen that made him come out of that pit that quickly?

"Zixin...goodluck on your quest"

═════ ♢.✰.♢ ═════

"Did you hear that?"

Xin Ai frowned.

"No...why?"

Jiang Ji could've sworn someone called out his name. He stands up and walks over to the balcony. His eyes meet the thick forest.

"Could it be....Zixin?"

"Is he the boy you met? Let's go have a look"

They grab their swords and tear through the sky heading to the lake. Jiang Ji could feel his heart flutter just at the thought of meeting Zixin again.

Down below they see a figure walk through the forest. Jiang Ji could immediately tell who it was.

"Wei Zixin!"

Zixin froze. Was he starting to hear voices?

"Zixin"

He turns around and sees Jiang Ji landing on his feet. Their eyes lock for a moment and Zixin feels a lump form on his throat.

The last time they had seen each other was over a stupid kiss but now....that didn't matter right?

Xin Ai watches his brother embrace Zixin tightly. He could immediately tell that the two cared for each other. He smiles and clears his throat.

"Okay love birds, let's head back before we bump into ghosts or something"
