Chapter 30 On the way to the Academy
They are now on their way to the city. It's still morning when they left the castle. Zero is impressed by the carriage because he is not feeling uncomfortable riding it. The carriage is also reinforced with magic so it will not be destroyed easily even a group of A-rank monsters attacked it. Silica asked Zero while manning the helm
"Master, are you comfortable with the carriage?"
"Yes. I'm quite impressed in the performance of this carriage." Zero complimented the carriage.
Silica nodded her head in satisfaction when she heard Zero's words.
"Master, this carriage was created by my subordinates. They even used the best materials that they can find to create this carriage. So it's only to be expected to have this kind of performance, Master."
Silica said without looking at Zero because she's manning the helm.
"Okay," Zero answered.
It's already noontime. The sun is shining brightly. They decided to find a shaded area to take a rest and to eat their lunch too. Silica, Diablo, and Zero can live without eating any food because the mana that they can absorb in their surroundings is enough to make them not feel hungry and thirsty. But since they got used to living as a human who eats 3-4 times a day, they just decided to eat.
Diablo spoke, "Shall I hunt some monsters, Master?"
"Yeah, a large wild boar is enough."
Zero ordered Diablo.
"As you wish, Master."
Diablo disappeared in their sights.
After a few minutes, Diablo came back while carrying a large boar. A normal boar is a B-Rank monster, but what Diablo brought is much bigger than a normal boar. It's a Blazing Boar an A-Rank Monster. As the name itself, it's a boar that uses fire magic and its physical strength is two times stronger than a normal boar. But for Diablo that's nothing.
Diablo used [Purification] to remove the impurities from the boar. [Purification] is light magic. It's not surprising that a 'demon' can use Light Magic because any species can use any type of magic. Using [Dark Magic] does not mean you are a bad guy it all depends on the wielder and Using [Light Magic] does not mean you are a good guy.
After Diablo purified it, he remove the skin of the boar and extract its meat.
After extracting the meat, Diablo cleaned the blood in the meat with water magic before cooking it using his fire magic.
After a few minutes, the meat is already cooked! Zero took three pieces of meat and gave the two to the two horses. He then took a bite of the meat and eat it slowly. But something is lacking, it's salt. Silica returned to the carriage to get something. What she gets is salt. Silica gave Diablo and Zero the salt.
Zero and Diablo continued eating after they receive the salt.
They rest for a while after eating before they started moving again.
They are traveling 8 hours straight without any break after they eat their lunch. Diablo took care of the monster who tried to attack them. At this pace, they can reach their destination earlier than expected. Instead of two days, they can reach the academy within a day and a half. It's already dark and they decided to continue their journey tomorrow. They are now at the outside part of a forest where Zero's portal always brought him when he is going into this world.
Silica gets two tents from the carriage.
She then set up the two tents. After that, she informed Zero who is looking around at the forest that the tents are now built.
"Master, the tents are prepared." Silica said while looking at Zero's back.
Zero nodded and turned back to Silica.
The two tents are divided into boys and girls. Since Silica is the only girl, she is alone in the tent.
Silica leashed the two horses in a tree.
Zero erected a big transparent barrier that is enough to cover all of them. Even the horses are included. The barrier is sturdy that even an S-Rank monster can't dent it. Then they entered into their tents and fell asleep.
It's already dawn. Zero is the first one to wake up. Zero exits the tent leaving Diablo sleeping alone. It's still dark when he got outside. He yawned and did some minor stretching. He can see many monsters trying to break his barrier. He used [Hell Flame] to burn the bears, wolves, and two chimeras trying to destroy the barrier. Inside the barrier, Zero can freely attack outside without any problems.
After Zero killed them, Diablo and Silica also got out of their tents when they felt a strong gathering of mana.
"Oh did I accidentally wake you two up? I just killed some monsters." Zero said in a casual tone.
"No, Master. I just felt a strong fluctuation of mana gathering so I decided to take a look."
Diablo said while slightly bowing.
Silica nodded her head as she have the same reason as Diablo.
"Since we are all awake, shall we continue moving?" Zero asked them.
Silica nodded and removed the leash from the horses and started moving.
After four hours, they are now at the entrance of the Salona Kingdom. Silica showed her identification card to the guards while Diablo and Zero showed their Adventurers ID. The guards also checked what's inside the carriage to see if there is something suspicious.
"Pass." The guard who inspected their carriage said.
They are now inside the lively city again.
They can hear many chattering everywhere.
They became the center of attention because of Silica's beauty being exposed. Many people are looking at Silica with malicious eyes but Silica ignored it and continued moving.
After half an hour, they are now at the entrance of the academy. They are in front of two large gates.
They are stopped by the guard in the academy and the guard asked
"State your business."
Silica showed a paper to the guard. She got down from the carriage followed by Diablo and Zero. The guard's eyes widened when he saw the paper and respectfully said
"Pardon my discourtesy. Please come with me, Ma'am. And these two are?"
"They are my Mas-" Silica's words were stopped when Zero spoke
"We are her subordinates."
Silica nodded her head in understanding of what Zero is trying to say.
They all entered the academy without any problem.
