Chapter 3

I still can't believe what happened. Ryan, that masculine bully guy jumped off the college building right after I threw him. Was he that coward to kill himself because a girl threw him down?. But still I felt kind of responsible.

A student dying is a serious matter. A male popular guy dying is a whole flashing news. As soon as the students gathered around his blood soaked body, the teachers shooed the students away and in no time, the police and the ambulance arrived. Me and Will along with all the police officers, forensic doctors and teachers sent off Ryan's lifeless body. We were told to stay and my heart decided to sing it own song to the whole word.

After the ambulance disappeared into the distance, the police officer finally noticed us. "who are you people?"

The teacher who held us down in spite of my head injury answered, how heartless can she be, " these are the students who encountered Ryan before the incident" she said. She was on her 30s. But I belive she is a mother gothel who is faking her age. Come on, look at all of her makeup. "really? OK kids. Let's talk in the principal's office. Let's go" the police officer whose name is Jack. I saw his name brightly on his ID. A man in his 30s, black beard with a very strict frown face. Me and Will shrugged and followed him nevertheless. Eventhough we appear cool, honestly we are not. My palms soaked with sweat and my heart dipped into my stomach.

"I belive these students are innocent officer. Besides, you can't just arrest a student for the incident" The principal argued to the officer who was pretty stubborn to take us to the police station.

"But sir, this girl threw him down. And the footages glitched after their encounter. We have no way but to investigate them" he was arguing.

"sir, with all due respect, these students were at the infirmary. Sarah got her head injured and Will injured his leg. Do you still think they did it?" the principal was losing his patience. He was well renowned man, working for the past 30 years in this school. Helping students in tremendous ways. Especially me, he gave me a chance to study medicine Eventhough I was homeschooled. I hope this problem doesn't make me regret my decision.

" sorry sir. I believe the boy is innocent. But not the girl." the officer made his comment. Wait, what? Why not me? Then realisation hit me, oh its because of my religion. My identity. My hijab. He must be one of those islamaphobes who are prejudced about who we really are.

"Sir, I belive you are disturbing the nature of equality here" Will interceded. I appreciated it because not many people intercede because they are afraid of their own life but bad idea, Will. "No boy. You don't know how those people are. They are terrorists. Muslims are terrorists." The officer was instilling idea into Will's brain. My heard clutched at his comment. This clicked my inner self to speak up.

"Sir, if you may, can I ask a few common questions?" I asked challenging. I might be not that social since I was homeschooled but I definitely know when to speak up. "why should I answer you?" cocky, this officer is. " if you answer it genuinely, I would come with you". This was a pointless bargain, but I want to change his point of view. The officer smirked. How I wished I would slap it off his face. My heart found its own peace.

"What's your religion sir?"

"Atheism"

"recently a murderer escaped the jail sir. I think it is you who helped him. Since you follow the same path, Atheism" the words left my mouth unwillingly . Accusing a officer is a great deal. I have no choice but to step in trouble.

The officer was furious, "How dare you?!!! I am a well known officer. I fighted criminals and saved many people. How dare you talk to me like that". I got goosebumps and felt my throat tug accusing a genuine officer.

"same as that. How come a group of people who I have no connection of, define who I am? Just because some people did it, doesn't mean we do too. I know the right and wrong. Just like you said, how the murderer doesn't define you, those people don't define me. I am unique. Islam is perfect but the people are not" i proclaimed. The officer face scrunched in guilt. "I am sorry sir, I didn't respect you as I am supposed to. I did this to instill the change of heart. I am really sorry" I begged for forgiveness. Eventhough what he did was wrong, at the end of the day, we are just humans making mistakes.

Eventhough he has hurt me with his words, I shouldn't. Because then there will be no difference between me and him. "indeed, a change of heart. Thank you." the officer smiled. It's really disgusting how the media portrays us. But in the inside we are just the same normal human being.

"i would appreciate if you help me with the investigation whenever needed. So, sir I will take my leave" the officer bowed to the principal and left. I sighed in relief.

Will and the principal were baffled for a moment. "wow. That's a good talk kid. Don't worry I will handle this. Now off you go to class." the principal waved us off. My lips curved into a Deep smile and I thanked Allah for changing his point of view of Muslims.

We took our leave, the moment the door closed behind us, Will exploded. "OH MY GOSH! I DIDN'T KNOW YOU WERE THIS COOL. YOU ARE LIKE THE SUPERHERO IN THE DISGUISE OF A NERD". I chuckled at his comment. I felt put of place, can I really be friends with everyone and be normal?. We waved goodbyes and made our way to our respective classes.

We had classes on how a 1.5 kg heart can pump around 1.5 liters of blood to the whole body. I glorified Allah, ALLAHUAKBAR(ALLAH IS GREAT). And the classes went on. All of a sudden, it was lunch period. Gosh, today I can't have the today's special, double cheeseburger. I pouted to myself and decided I would rather empty my brother's wallet. I went up to the entrance to see Jason already waving from his car.

I boarded in and we took off. "so what happened today?" his hands lazily on the steering wheel. "um nothing special. Just boring classes" I laughed nervously. I am not good at lying. Lying is forbidden and I am very bad at lying. Like really bad.

"tell me what happened or I am letting you off hungry" Jason smirked. He knows food is my life. "ugh! Fine." I admitted defeat and explained everything from Will to the voices and till Ryan's mystery.

Jason's eyes went wide. I am afraid the eyeball didn't fall off. "what? How? I mean you had two rules and you messed it up. How is your head now? Does it hurt? -"

I interrupted him before he would go over protective mode. "I am fine. Now let's drive fast, shall we? I am a bit hungry". Jason gripped the wheels. I tried making funny faces but he wouldn't budge.

Jason sighed and drove off. We pulled into a driveway. "wait here. Let me take some money" he parked in front of an ATM, leaving me in the car. "don't take too long. My lunch period isnt all day" I shouted and he nodded. I was bored, so I looked out of the window. I felt the wind brush my skin softly as if kissing me gently and the sun was just perfect not to hot or cold. I smiled to myself and my eyes welled up with tears, happy tears as I saw the magnificent creation of Allah. Suddenly, my back of the head chilled and when I turned around to the the opposite window of the driver, I saw a suspicious man fully covered in black staring at Jason. His eyes emitted suspiciousness, the figure moved close to where Jason was standing. Jason was cooling off on his phone while waiting for his turn, completely forgetting the danger behind him. My head spinned and the scene blurred. My head hammered in itself. I don't know what was going on and I was having trouble breathing. But Jason needs my help. Oh Allah, please help me.
