Marinette's POV

"Good morning Kitty grandpa and grandma will take care of you, you can just stay near the heater, but mommy needs to head to school now," I kiss my cat goodbye and grab my milkshake and breakfast and eat while I walk to the school gym.

2 days ago while I was on a night run it started to rain and I heard a faint meow, a poor kitten was under a bench trying to keep warm. I brought it home and named him Kitty, he was well behaved and really lazy, he likes to sleep all day and eat a lot of food. He thinks Tikki is his chew toy but Tikki somehow now sleeps on the cats belly.

I woke up earlier than usual and made a protein shake and a Nutella crepe to carry as I eat it to school.

Tikki was still asleep since she stayed up the night before crying over an episode. I grabbed her macaroons and now she's in my bag snoozed out completely.

Adrian hasn't came to school in a couple days because he fell sick, Kagami didn't show up of course which was a blessing for me.

I look at both directions of the street and walk across to reach another side walk that leads me straight to school.

"Marinette!," I turn seeing Adrian with some workout clothes and bandages rapped around his knuckles.

"What happen to your hands?," I asked quickly.

"I was boxing in my room and I guess I went overboard," he laughed nervously.

"But wouldn't you feel the pain, I mean this looks really bad," I sighed.

"I was caught up in my head about some stuff," he shrugged.

Knowing not to push it I just nod and start walking again.

"So whacha have there?," Adrian looked down at my crepe.

"Food," I step away from him.

"What? Don't like to share?," he smirked.

Adrian steps closer and grabs the crepe.

"Can I have a bite?," he asked.

"Well since it seems like you really want a bite knock yourself out," I mumbled.

"Thank you," Adrian takes a large piece and stuffs it in his mouth.

"Don't choke now," I giggled as he tries to chew the large piece.

When we reach school Adrian asked if he can workout with me which I didn't really want but I worried about him being alone with his hands all bruised and cut up.

So of course I said sure and I walk out the locker room before heading to the track seeing Adrian stretching.

"Do you jog first or sprint?"

"Sprint 3 jog 1 time to catch my breath and sprint 4," I whispered as I stretch my legs.

"Thank god, when I workout with Nino he ends up dead on the ground after 30 minutes," Adrian laughed.

"Alya doesn't like to workout since she's busy with the blog and what not, but I have to keep in shape I have a competition coming up and my instructor is flying in from China to watch, I have to make her proud."

"Really? when is it?"

"4 days."

"Can I come?"

"Sure you can sit with Alya, Nino, and Chloe."

"You became quite close with Chloe, I'm glad."

"I'm happy we've become close she's not such a bad person," I chuckled.

"Told you," Adrian rolled his eyes playfully.

"I knowwww."

"What do you do after the run?"

"I have to practice my moves look at some videos to go over, stretch more to try to do some back hand springs and what not," I huffed after finishing stretching feeling my body ready to run.

"Can see?"

"Sure. Ready?," I looked at him as I get ready to run.

"Sweetheart I was born ready."

After our small workout we head outside to meet up with Alya and Nino who literally looked like they were dead.

"You guys look.... terrible," Adrian laughed.

"It was all Alya's fault! She made me stay at her place as she wrote on the ladyblog about how there was a siting of Ladybug and she made me help!," Nino whined.

"Not only that she started posting about your upcoming competition and also made me help by editing videos of you in your old competitions," Nino turned to Adrian and pouted.

"Don't you feel bad for me buddy?"

"Nah at least your alive," Adrian laughed.

"If you don't want to be my boyfriend just tell me!," Alya yelled at Nino.

"Don't even start with that you know I love you but I didn't sleep at alllll," Nino grabbed her hand and whined to her like a baby.

Nino and Alya always get into small arguments like this and make up in just about 5 minutes.

"If this is what dating someone looks like I might stay single for a while," I laughed lightly.

"No Marinette our children have to be besties like us!," Alya quickly put her attention on me.

"Eh I don't know," I shrugged.

"Fine I'll wait till you find someone to your standards," Alya grumbled.

"Oh you have standards?," Adrian asked.

"No not really-."

"Oh yes she does she said she wanted someone that is brave and stands up for what they believe in as well as being a total cutie-," I quickly cover her mouth.

"I just want someone that accepts me for me," I laughed nervously and punched Alya.

Adrian nods his head slowly.

"So you got a standard Adrian?," Alya got a release from my grip.

"Uhm-," he turns his head forward in deep thought "Kagami?"

Of course she is perfect what was I expecting.

"Hey I just came by to say love you like every morning," Kagami smiled at him softly.

"Hey Alya, Nino, Marinette," she greeted us.

"Hi," we all say together feeling a bit awkward.

"So Marinette heard your pretty famous now."

"Yeah she is best person in martial arts out there," Alya patted my back.

"That's wonderful, never thought of you as a fighter after all you're pretty clumsy and could barley stand up correctly," Kagami insulted.

"It was nice seeing you, but I have a class to get to and I don't like being tardy," I mumbled and tried to pass her.

"You always got in late what's the difference?"

"The difference is that I grew up and I don't like wasting my time on unimportant conversations," I cover my mouth sarcastically "oops sorry."

I walk away and clench my fist tight.

"Calm," Tikki said.

"Don't let that bully get to you Marinette she is not worth your time."

"I know," I whispered and calmed down.

I reach the class and made up an excuse to my sit in the front of the class for a while.

As class fills up Adrian walks in and looks at me confused at the sudden seat change, I ignore him and focus on class.

I felt my phone vibrate.

'Hey haven't talked to you since. You know, anyways heard you have a comp in 4 days. I just wanted to wish you a good luck from Mexico!;)'

I smile lightly at his text and sent him a quick thank you before my mind wandered off.

After school-

I once again avoided Adrian and left school right when the bell rang, he was still packing his things and I begged Kagami wasn't outside waiting for him.

But to my luck like always she was, and like always she called me over.

"Yes?," I mumbled.

"Stop hanging around Adrian, remember our deal," she mumbled.

"Don't worry I lost feelings for him a long time ago."

"Doesn't mean you can hang around with him, you're causing us problems."

"Whatever."

"Remember Marinette you are just a friend to Adrian, if you think you had a chance remember that he picked me, I'm just superior I mean look at me. You are just a clumsy little shy girl that wanted everything she couldn't get," she said with a straight face.

"Were."

"What?"

"You said you are but it's you were, past tense I'm no longer going to cowardly obey you, stop thinking I'm trying to steal Adrian away when I'm not and I'm not planning to, keep him. I have my own life and I certainly don't need all this drama you're trying to bring up," I mumbled.

"You think your all perfect because you left to China and came back as a master at all martial art, and a body, please get over yourself I'm not worried about you stealing Adrian because he's wrapped around my finger," Kagami Smirked.

"I'm heading home," I rolled my eyes.

"Don't forget today Marinette."

I start sprinting down the sidewalk trying to make it home to yell in my pillow and let all my anger out.

"Marinette don't listen to her she's just scared that her relationship with Adrian is going to end since you came back," Tikki mumbled.

"But I'm not even trying to steal him from her, for freaking sakes I tried to keep my distance to respect her wishes," I whispered.

"This is why I said Adrian is no good!," Tikki sighed.

"I need to get home and I need to calm down, I can't let her breakdown my wall," I mumbled.

"Marinette your heart beat is beating really fast let's just sit down for a minute," Tikki mumbled.

I listened to Tikki and sat down and look at the ground.

I don't know what's Kagami's issue with me, she made it clear a year ago that she didn't want to be friends with me and didn't want me around Adrian because I'm not a good influence. I listened and respected her wishes, I still am, but it's Adrian that doesn't stop bothering me. Why am I getting punished for him not leaving me alone. And then I came back wanting to live a low life, but Alya couldn't stop herself from showing me off on her blog, also her getting me social media accounts and having to answer multiple messages, then Kagami pushing me down, and Adrian not letting me have space.

Ever since I came back to Paris my mind has been clouded with negative thoughts, I've been crying myself to sleep realizing how I'm losing myself all over again. The little spark of fire I had in me is slowly being put out and that's what I'm scared of, to lose everything I worked for, losing my confidence and motivation.

But I can't keep getting upset at these things, Alya's happy that she has someone other than Ladybug to talk about. Adrian seems happy to spend time with me from working out and what not, social media is a good way to stay in contact with friends from China and check out my other opponents. So really it's not so bad, I need to stop focusing on the negative and think about the positive outcome, Alya's happy and Adrian is having fun, and I get to talk to friends from China.

I slap my cheek.

"Ow," I mumbled.

"Marinette!," Tikki yelped.

I did it again.

"Stay positive!," I yelled lightly.

"Stop you're going to leave a Mark!"

"I will not let my fire be put out by these small problems that I can just ignore, I'm more stronger than before, I will not let myself feel this way again," I rubbed my chest.

"Okay okay just don't slap yourself silly," Tikki mumbled.

"Okay," I laughed nervously.
