[Hello lovies,
I'm gonna start updating again every Tuesday (my country day). Also, I ain't gonna change the novel at all. So I hope you (my lovely readers whom I dearly appreciate) will continue reading and enjoy it. Another thing, the 'note' I posted earlier will be taken down.
Have a great day! <3 ]
The book started to glow a bright golden color. The book glowed a bright golden color. A little bit similar to the one Turilla saw at the tailor's while she was with Imogen and Mr. Balrus. Seconds after the glow died down Turilla tried to open the book to see the contents inside but failed to do so since it seemed like the book was glued shut.
"Whoaaaaa, did you see that?" Turilla stood up excitedly and faced the two older women. Mama was in complete shock. Kimberly took the book into her hands and traced it around the middle.
"H-How did it react to you but not either of us?" Mama stated as she moved closer to see the book up close.
"Oh my goodness." Mrs. Kimeberly was left speechless. "The- the markings…."
"Are super prettyyyy. Are you sure that it only reacted to me?" Turilla finished Mrs. Kim's sentence.
"Yeah… They are…"
"Lemme try the ornament." Turilla said, taking the metal ornament into her hands.
The ornament was circular, cold, and a little heavy. The markings were quite similar to the book and had tiny colored gems in certain places. Turilla shook the metal ball to find out if there was anything inside. No noise came from the inside of the metal object conveying that there was nothing.
"Hm… Doesn't seem like there is anything inside" She said, staring hard at the ball. "I wanna open it."
"Turilla dear… p-please don't break it," Mama said concerned. "That's one of the only things that are related to your past."
"Haha, why have I never questioned where I came from?" Turilla laughed trying to pry open the sphere.
No matter how hard Turilla tried to break it open by twisting it around, using her nails and teeth (Mama stopped her) the metal ornament would budge. It was almost midnight when the three of them decided to call it a night.
"Come Turill I'll take you to your room," Mama said, taking the candle with her.
"Uh… Mama, why did you decide to give these things to me tonight after so many years?" Turilla wasn't mad, but curious.
"Well, Kim and I thought it would be best to give it to you when you come of age," Mama replied, eyeing the book and Metallic sphere in her hands and Turilla.
"Mama, when I and Imogen come back home after the exam can you tell me more about myself?" Turilla swallowed the chuckle and asked. It was funny that she was asking such a question about herself.
"Sure sweetheart. I'm sorry to keep these things away from you." She replied apologetically.
"It's ok you probably had your reasons for it." Turilla smiled. "Good night Mama."
"Wait. I think you should have these with you from now on." Mama said, handing the book and ornament to Turilla.
"Really? Thank you, Mama." Turilla said with a sad smile before she yawned.
"Good night darling," Mama said, giving a peck on Turilla's forehead.
Opening the door, Turilla found her best friend awake, sitting under the light reading a book that had a red cover with gold lettering. The light wasn't that powerful to cover the whole room but gave out enough brightness to see around.
"You're still awake?"
"Yes, I was waiting for you," Imogen replied, closing her book and putting the chair back into a corner.
"Wanna see something amazing?" Turilla questioned just before Imogen was about to switch the light off.
"Sure, what is it?"
"This book was left to me by my parents, apparently." Turilla began sitting on the bed with Imogen.
"It's lovely," Imogen stated.
"It really is."
Turilla traced the markings of the cover and the spine of the book with the palm of her hand. She then opened it and flipped through the empty yellowish gold pages. This time there were no pretty sparkles of golden glitter. The papers of some unique sort were smooth, showing that nothing was written over them.
"They are all empty," Imogen said, touching the pages with thin, white fingers.
"Wonder what these pages are made of." Turilla's mind wondered about things that weren't exactly... important.
"That's what you are wondering about?" Imogen chuckled.
"It isn't like how the usual pages are made," Turilla said
Imogen replied laughing at Turilla's statement. The two decided that they would go to sleep since tomorrow was their big day. It didn't scare the two girls as they always faced things head-on. They were each other's strengths and weaknesses. Switching off the lighting, Imogen turned to Turilla's side.
"What do you think the ornament is for?" She asked
"Not sure but whatever it is for must be amazing," Turilla replied. Imogen may have not seen it but she knew the kind of face her best friend was making.
"Good night Turilla," Imogen said, turning over onto Turilla's side.
"Night, Imogen"
In Turilla's eyes, the ordinary world is a sensual place of wonder and excitement. She found cheerfulness in all kinds of things. A very curious being who loved making friends, a total extrovert.
Imogen on the other hand likes to stay indoors and read. Being friends with Turilla wasn't a choice initially, but now the two are like peas in a pod. A very peculiar kind of friendship.
"Turilla! Imogen! The carriage will be here at eight! Better get ready." Mrs. Kimberly said, knocking on the door.
It was still five in the morning and the two girls weren't that happy to get up that early in the morning. The sun wasn't up yet and no birds were heard from outside.
"Ugh, why do we have to wake up so early?" Imogen said sitting on her bed with messed up hair.
"Turilla. Turilla, get up… we have to get ready." She said tapping her friend repeatedly.
"Mh? Ah, is it today?" She finally replied, rubbing her eyes.
"Yuuuup, today's our big day." Imogen deadpanned.
