Ready for battle!?

'Why do you say it like that? Are there other mothers?'

'Something like that… Want to know a little about our family?' Umari asked.

'Yeah, I would like that very much!' She beamed brightly.

'Umari~ You know Tia Alena won't like it' Another voice with a very rough dialect, spoke in between. 'Seems like you gotta do the thing, Hermana. Teehee…'

'Oh… uh- Hi! My name is Turilla…' she said, turning to the other girl and smiling awkwardly.

'Hola! My name is Martina, Encantada de conocerte.' She replied in her mind and gave Turilla a wave.

'GAH, fine I'll show you through pictures instead.' Umari said, rubbing her temples before glancing at Turilla. 'You ok with me doing that?'

'Pictures? What do you mean?'

'You'll see but just a warning brace yourself' Umari said before disappearing from Turilla's mind, Martina had also left with her.

Turilla was left alone in the darkness of her mind. She slowly and carefully sat down but still kept floating around wondering what was going to happen. Seconds later while sitting down, a small dark-skinned girl with thick golden brown locks whizzed past her. The little girl laughed while a taller man in a blue suit with blond hair chased her with arms stretched out and blonde white wings spread open. He shot up into the air before diving towards the girl. The two share the same laugh and smile. The man scooped the girl off the ground and twirled her around before a woman who looked exactly like the girl without any wings that were visible and a wooden house appeared behind them.

The lady took the child from the man and gave her a kiss on the cheek. The three of them went into the wooden house.

The scene changed, Turilla was now inside the house. There was a lovely stone fireplace that blazed brightly and the lights were in different shapes in sizes. Just by looking Turilla knew that the family was a happy one just by the way they smiled and helped each other around the house. It was a peaceful and loving family.

This must be what they call a family, Turilla thought as she touched her warming heart. She smiled at the sight before it all shattered seconds later.

The mother quickly opened the trap door on the wooden floor, pasted her daughter's lip with a sticking spell before throwing her into the seller, telling her not to make a noise.

Men in armor came pouring into the house from everywhere. The door was broken down and so were the windows. They surrounded the lady and her husband in a circle with their swords drawn out. The man with his back to his wife immediately went into a fighting position with his legs apart and fists in front of his eyes while the rest of his arms protecting his face. The lady snapped her fingers in which blue sparkly circles appeared.

The soldiers charged towards the man who leaped at them and started punching them with full force. He hit the soldier in front of him with the base of his plan making the other guy fall back colliding with a few others. The lady kept shooting tiny balls of blue flames at set a couple of men in armor on fire.

Turilla screamed 'behind you' at the man but she knew of the possibility that the man couldn't hear her. Unfortunately, he couldn't and ended up getting chained on both hands and his neck. He was then taken out of the house forcefully.

She held back her second scream while hot tears ran down her cheeks when she saw the first murder of her life, the woman while protecting her daughter who was under the floor by not allowing the soldiers to go near it, was killed by a sword that pierced straight through her heart.

When the lady fell onto the ground, Turilla saw her mouth moving. She tried to run towards the lady, unfortunately, the pictures dissolved and she was brought back to the present.

Tears still trickled down as she turned to Umari with quivering hands over her mouth. Umari, shocked to see Turilla crying, quickly moved near her and made her rest on a corner of the tunnel.

"What did you see?" Umari whispered as she rubbed Turilla's back in circles while the other rested her head on Umari's shoulder.

"Was… Was that little girl… Mo-" Turilla was interrupted by the creaking of the safe vault that the older woman went into an hour ago.

The older woman came running out, dripping in sweat. She frantically gave directions to the girls who were upfront in small whispers before ripping the necklace she wore and squeezed it into Umari's hands. Closing her hand tightly she planted a kiss on each girl including Turilla so fast that Turilla was wondering where she got that lipstick stain from. Aunt Alena whispered a few in understandable words to her and dashed out the other way.

The girls started going into the safe one after the other with anger flaming in their eyes. Turilla followed them in while suppressing the urge to ask questions because she'd seen the seriousness in their eyes before during one of the most painful periods of her life. Instead she turned her focus into observing the vault which was surprisingly cleaner than she expected.

"Alena said to take care of ourselves, THEY are here." Said the girl up front in a very commanding manner. Her sharp eyes kept forward as she continued to speak. They arrived at a very lit room with a high ceiling and tall pillars. "Other than Turilla everyone else, good with your powers yeah?"

"Yes Mam!" they all replied in unison in a strong, confident voice.

"Good. Those who need weapons, you are all dismissed to your rooms. The rest go call everyone else, we will need to protect ourselves tonight. Stay strong." She said turning to face the ones who came in.

She had sharp features and dark red hair that matched her piercing black eyes. Turilla didn't notice it before but the girl had only one visible wing that had merged with her clothes. She also had two swords strapped on both sides of her waist and the necklace that aunt Alena gave hung around her neck.

"Turilla with me." The others separated to do their duties while Turilla walked with the red-haired girl.

"You still have not learned to use your powers yet, right?"

"No I don't" Although she smiled, Turilla felt vulnerable and useless when she said that. She always thought that she was just heavy baggage to others because she didn't know how to use them let alone understand potions and poisons.

"That's great! That means you got your mother's blessing instead." The girl replied with a grin that could cure all diseases. It was so bright that all her worries vanished away and she felt better about herself. Just a tiny bit.

"How- How is that great?" confused at the strangely uplifting words.

"My intuition is never wrong. I'm guessing that you are very strong and can turn anything at hand into a dangerous weapon." She asked as she started to walk again closer to a door with heavy handles and a simple but lovely design. She put her hands on the silver handles, ready to open them.

"Thank you for those kind words but I don't think that I'm that great." she laughed sheepishly, she knew that she was not great as the older girl said. She felt weak and internally screamed at herself for not trying harder at potion studies or when practicing unleashing her own power.

The door opened, relieving a very bright room filled with armory of all kinds. From knives to swords to spears. Knives of different hilts and sharpness stood in a tall glass case. Suits of armor equipped with helmets accompanying colorful feathers and shields of various shapes and sizes. Pictures filled the gaps on the wall. Turilla stopped at the swords glass case, mesmerized by the varieties.

She always wanted a sword of her own that she could take to battle. The hilt would have a small incarnation of her name and the sword itself would be carved beautifully from the long hours of battle that she would face with a hundred enemies charging towards her. It was a child's dream that had somehow come true in the form of her staring at the most lovely sword she had ever seen.

"We don't have much time to make a sword for you right now but please do pick a sword that you find appealing."

Turilla was awestruck at the particular sword that had the most ravishing design and stone in the middle of it's hilt and metal part. Markings engraved from years of battle are carved everywhere. Her eyes sparkled at the magnificent weapon in front of her.

Her face, squashed in the cold glass she whispered softly to herself "I want this one. It's calling to me…" she continued after unsticking herself from the glass in front of her.

"Ok, while I get it out of the case why don't you-" the girl was interrupted by another who tore down the door shouting "commander!"

"Commander, you need to come quickly! It's really bad."
