One Month Celebration: Part 1

It had been a month since Ahxue had come to this new world and to be honest she liked it here. Even though there was no modern technology or resources here and even though she was stuck in the body of a child, she still liked it here.

Today was her one month celebration and the day she and her mom went out of confinement.

Yeah, she knew that she had called Lian Meilin her mom, but through this month she really did accept her new mother as her mom. She had seen how much her mom cared about her and cherished her and it had moved her heart to accept her as her mother.

Actually it was hard at first, she'd been abandoned in her last life and never even knew her mother so suddenly having a mother was hard to to accept but she had learned to find comfort in her mom.

During this month, although she was stuck inside the bedroom and mostly spent time sleeping inside her crib, she was able to meet the entire Feng family members.

She was also able to learn bits and pieces about the family through the gossip of the maids around her.

Her new Family consisted of her Grandfather, who was the Duke of the North and Commander of the Northern Army, Feng Han. Her Grandpa was slightly silly and would sometimes sneak into her side room in the evenings to visit her before her grandma took him away for not cleaning up before coming to see her. Her Grandma on the other hand was the Duchess, Dong Linghua had been a junzhu, born to the Zhang Gongzhu (Grand princess), the sister of the first Emperor, Chang leijuan. Born into royal lineage she had been a dignified lady but to say that her grandfather had been a rogue who stole the beauty wouldn't be an understatement.

That would be a later story though.

Her grandparents had originally had three sons, her father was Feng Wei, the eldest and heir to the Dukedom, the second son was Feng Wang, but he had disappeared after a quick goodbye for almost 10 years now, the youngest and her little uncle was Feng Wen.

Her father had married her mother, Lian Meilin, who was the imperial tutor's eldest daughter. Her mother was a gentle soul and kind mother but she was strict with her brothers from what she has seen. Together they had her two elder brothers, Feng Yingao aged 12 and Feng Mingjun aged 9.

Her second uncle, Feng Wang, had been unmarried before he had disappeared, so he didn't have any children.

Her Third uncle, Feng Wen on the other hand had married her Aunt Fu Yawen, the third daughter of the Minister of Works, Fu Lingqiang. Her little uncle and aunt had three sons, her cousin Feng Xiang who was 10 years old and the twins, Feng Shiyang and Feng Shihong who were both 4 years old.

As for herself it turns out she was the only daughter in her family, from the mouths of the maids she had already heard about the so-called curse of the Feng family. The gaze of the maids had been a strange mix of pity and fear. They probably feared her strange eyes and hair; she knew that the people from ancient times weren't familiar with albinism and probably comprised it as a part of the curse. They were probably also fearful of making a mistake and accidentally killing her. Most of the time it was actually her mother that took care of her personally, through the time that she spent with her mother, she saw the care and thoughtfulness that she put into herself. She would be lying if she said that she didn't grow attached, she'd always wanted a family and now she had one but at the same time she was still fearful of losing it after having a taste of what it was like.

"Little princess?" Her niang (mother)'s call rang in her nursery side room. Soon she was in her mothers embrace. The softness and warmth comforting her. It was still very early in the morning but the entire Duke's manor was bustling with activity because of her one month celebration.

"Our little princess has to get ready for her big day today! A lot of people are coming to give their well wishes today and your also going to get your formal name today!" Her mother spoke excitedly. She was slowly changed and dressed into festive red silk baby clothes. She didn't know much about such ancient traditions since in her previous life no one had ever had any celebrations for her but it was different now. Although she was a little hot after being dressed in so many layers of silk and with being inside such a hot room, she didn't whine or make any noise, especially since she had already seen how distressed her niang and new family were when it came to her. When her new body had been two weeks old it had caught a high fever and her own consciousness was going in and out but she still still remembered clips of how the doctor said that if she couldn't pass the fever she would probably die, she saw how the entire family took turns to sit with her from old to young and how her niang carried her all night with fear and worry that Ahxue may die if she let her go. That had really struck her and even though Ahxue was already a quiet baby she became even quieter after her fever broke. After that fever she had at two weeks old she felt her soul more connected to this body and a greater acceptance than when she had first entered.

Her mother was also dressed beautifully in matching red clothes with beautiful embroidery. The ancient styled dress and colour wrapping her gentle form to become brighter and filled with more joy than usual her hair rolled into an updo with delicate gold hair pins with a few hanging bells drooping from them and outlining her small face.

As she was staring at her mother curiously with her silver lined eyes, her ears picked up the swooshing of the heavy winter curtain to her room being pushed to the side. Surprisingly her strong instincts, sharp hearing and eyesight remained, her other physical abilities would probably have to be built up again especially since this body was so weak.

Her eyes trailed to the side trying to see who entered the room with her still underdeveloped neck which she couldn't move. From the corner of her eyes she could see that it was her Father, who similar to her and her mother was also wearing red clothes but his was a slightly darker shade of red with a heroic aura surrounding him.
