There were moments Eli missed being able to fly in his suit. The cost of parking in New Welch was one of them. He had to park further away from the brewery to avoid paying an additional ten dollars. It made him consider just taking the train to the city instead.
His dad’s brewery was located in an old redbrick building that was formerly a fire station. He made his way inside and past the taproom into the back where the fermentation tanks were. His dad was talking to a few people. Eli smiled when his dad noticed him and waved him over.
“Glad you could make it, Eli,” Robert said. “We just tasted this new variant of Kathryn Sunshine. Do you want to try it?”
“I’m not really twenty-one yet.”
“I won’t tell if you won’t.” His dad offered him the half-empty pint and Eli accepted it. “This one’s a little sweeter than the original.”
Eli took a sip and it did taste almost like a fruity cocktail. “I thought Kathryn Sunshine was known for being sweet already.”
