Standing by the ship leaving for Port Marden, Aliah waited for Seamus to say goodbye to his parents and brother. Cara had been so upset at Seamus' leaving again, she refused to come out of her room. Understanding how much her rejection hurt Seamus, Aliah had persuaded the young girl to at least say goodbye to her brother, but Cara drew the line at coming to the docks.


The new heir to the Duchy of Hand wandered over to stand beside Emer, who appeared very uncomfortable at being included in the family farewells. Jonas gave her a rough hug goodbye, and she seemed to relax a little.


Maybe Seamus and Emer were not quite there yet, but everyone else knew these two were much better together than they were apart. Perhaps once Seamus was settled in his new home, he would feel confident enough to start courting the girl from Sanctuary.
