"You played him very well, Sire," I said as I walked beside him.

He was too busy going through all the valuables in the box, perhaps searching for his own, for his response was, "What do you mean?"

"Didn't you get him to steal your precious item from you?"

"Could be."

He ticked me off with his vague answer and unerasable smirk. I frowned with displeasure as whatever I had to say had become too sour for me to ask.

"Why does it matter to you, milady?" he asked as he pulled out a coin-like gold amulet. "I thought you had a high aversion to me after the bloody sight."

"It is just very interesting that it was kept in a visible place," I responded. "And the fact that you traced him down merely from where we visited without chasing him is incredible. I thought he had pushed us on the stairs and stolen yours, but with your cloak it was impossible."

"He had done it to try and get the chain from your neck, not mine."
