~ 119: Behind The Shelves - Part 1 ~

The female tour guide who clung to me now disgusted me. I had no wish to stay anywhere near her after hearing his damned words. If she was somehow related to him, then she would be spilling all the beans about me to him, who was willing to find some flaw and use it to his advantage.

I questioned the amount of truth in his words for I knew not who had appointed her. Asking the lady would be stupid as she would lie, perhaps too smoothly for me to make out. But I decided to try anyway.

"Does the knight have deep motherly affections for you, Miss?" I asked as we made our way to the west of the palace.

"Well, in a way, yes," she answered, taking me by surprise. "I had once been appointed for the maintenance of his room back when I started out in the palace. So, in a matter of time, I have come to see him as my son as well."

'Oh well,' I said with a sigh. 'She must either not have children or they might not be with her currently.'
