"I have only seen them in movies," he said with a hearty laugh. "Your imagination is sure a little wild. Did you forget that such things existed or something after visiting some ancient ruin?"

"Maybe," I answered in a quiet voice, wondering where in the world he had gotten that idea and made my heart beat at twice its rate. I would have nearly passed out if he had been more elaborate on having seen me there by some miracle.

'That would be the worst that could happen,' I told myself with a slight shake of my head, letting the flowing hair, that Aidan had let down, caress my face and nape. 'And that is not possible. Lucas said that the sacrifice for it is too extreme and it cannot be made so easily unless they had a death wish.'

He planted a kiss on the top of my forehead and said, "You're being weird. Did the red drink interfere with your system?"
