Werewolf slayer

With only the upper stub of the slab between her and the open jaws of the beast, Rue lost her balance and began to fall backward. With her sack at her back and her already embarrassing scar, she couldn't risk falling onto the coarse chainmail sack filled with solid-metal daggers.

Her quick thinking caused her tail to unwrap from her leg to shift the sack so she fell back against the earth. The sound of several daggers falling out and onto the ground hit her high alerted ears.

Before she could sigh in relief both its front paws stamped onto the ground at opposite sides of her neck. Rue had only a meager piece of a shield as she stared deep down into the beast's mouth open wide before her face.

Wet saliva splashed onto her. An acrid stench cut through the smoke-filled air. Its loud growl ripped through her ears causing an annoying ringing.

Without thinking, one hand let go of the slab of shield to grab a dagger that fell from her sack by her shoulder.

She didn't care that its mouth was open and it was already too late. Its jaws would shut ripping her arm off before her dagger even reached its tongue.

Images of her mother flashed before her eyes before she felt the sharp blast of wind from its jaws slammed shut. Her hand with the dagger made one powerful stab fueled with all her rage. She stabbed it over and over until both became too drenched in blood that the handle slipped from her grip.

The lifeless thing laid on top of her with its snout forced shut and over her left shoulder. The silver blade remained lodged in the side of its skull closest to her.

Before the deadweight began to crush her lungs, she wiggled herself from underneath it and used her last strength to push it away. When she finally came to her knees she took heavy breaths but smoke and the venom on its claws caused her to be coughing.

Looking down she examined herself in a panic for any scrapes from the green claws. Tears along the sleeves down her legs revealed dark red scrapes on her hardened skin. A faint pain started only when her eyes set to focus on them. Thankfully those were from its back claws and not the ones coated with Jedposa. Also, these scrapes were not too deep.

She looked back at the lifeless thing with its snout still shut in contact with the ground. The roars of the flames crowded her ears as she wondered how that happened.

She had her revenge and it was time to get back to the bunker she thought. She set her eyes back at the silver door slightly raised from the ground, as several shaking eyes peeped through from the darkness.

It was as if the Meras were telling her to hurry by just that stare.

"Hmmm, the sweet scent of Royal blood," said a deep raspy voice mixed between a growl.

Her ears twitched and her feet stopped. It caused her to glimpse back at the black-furred beast standing on all fours with two Meras in black capes lying lifeless on the ground. The hoofs from the orsols got fainter as they ran off in the distant street.

Its red wide eyes set fix on her. "What is a little red doing this close to the outside? One that reeks royalty!" it yelled.

Meras from inside the Royal walls had strongly scented body oils and took frequent baths. It was true, they smelt different from the average.

Tingles ran up her left arm just in time for Rue to jump out of the way missing another Werewolf that snuck up on her. With her head dizzy she fell on her arms in contact with the ground and all the daggers on her back fell out of her sack. Strands of hair loosen from her tight bun hung down into her face. Just then a burning sensation started at the back of her nose and it became much harder to breathe.

Now it was two of them. Her fingers scrambled through the dirt in reach for a dagger without moving her eyes away from the threats before her.

The second the sharp edge of a blade cut into her thick skin, her hands froze from their motion. However, the thought of Jedposa killing her became less real as both the beast pounced towards her at the same time.

Her eyes got wide. She fell back on one arm while the other moved before her on instinct. With her eyes open she saw it happen this time.

She felt a powerful force rush down her elbow and release through her palm that opened at the beasts. The second it left her hand, the Werewolves got pushed back several feet by a powerful wind.

One went crashing and rolling across the ground. The other landed inside the furnace of a fire at the lower parts of a building before the foundation from the upper floors broke down to fall on top of it.

Before Rue had time to gasp at amazement, the other one had gotten up and headed right at her. Before it made its last leap to her the entire front façade of a burning building tore from the rest of the structure to fall right on top of it. The wind and gush of flames were so strong Rue had to turn her head away.

Not long did the beast rip from under the burning rubbles covered in dancing flames hitting itself into anything while letting out an ear-piercing howl. She covered her ears and the smell of burning meat began to break through the smoke. It headed at her with its last breath.

Rue realized she had done telekinesis and so held out her hands to push it back again. She had no idea how to do it again and her eyes got wide with fear.

A spear flew from the left to pierce into its side before it crashed with its snout digging into the earth before her.

Rue sprung to her feet and stepped back from it.

Just then three more of the flying creatures fell from the skies to crash through the roofs before landing on the inside of a furnace.

The Zunbera-xefis and the Fronteras were working together. Some still in their dark red uniforms had not changed out into their daily wear. Every single one was wearing a face mask so she could not see their faces apart from their eyes.

An alarming voice asked, "Did you just do telekinesis?"

"It seemed like she pushed the mutt away without touching it," commented another.

"Don't forget she tore down that building," -- "What a gifted child," said the voices that began to crowd around her. One patted her on the back almost causing her to lose balance.

The Meras had come out from hiding in the bunker. Someone from the Zunbera-xefi pushed through, remarking that he knew her. "You are Rue, daughter of Cronan."

An obvious wave of shock spread across the faces she could see while the eyes behind masks got wide in shock. They stepped back from her.

"Are you sure," whispered someone.

Before Rue could address them with an answer, a hand at her feet lifted her from the ground. Before she knew it, she was sitting on the shoulders of two Meras a good several feet from the ground.

"We've got ourselves a Werewolf slayer just like her warrior father," yelled one. They began to cheer "Werewolf slayer--Werewolf slayer," over and over again.

The attention got to Rue's head and all feelings of fear began to vanish.

In the dark blue sky past the yellow half-moon, three Werewolves were escaping on one of the giant flying creatures.

Someone mentioned that those were a lower and more vicious class of the Pyraus-dragonas. They were a highly intelligent species working with the Werewolves.

Rue couldn't believe it. That was the same species of the trespasser that crossed into their border. The one that mutated into the vampiric cannibalistic mutant.

Why were so many of them this far east and in our Domain? Why were two Dominant species from different Domains working together?

Rue thought it was unfair. "Why don't we have alliances? That's right, every other Domain either fears or hates us," she thought as she looked up at the deep blue night skies.

Within no time, Meras on orsols raced in packs towards the West-wing gate as they shot arrows and daggers at their targets in the skies. There was no trial awaiting them if they were caught.

However, everything began to blur and Rue got even dizzier. The yell from a Mera beneath her was the last thing she heard before her eyes blocked out everything into darkness.
