Chapter 23: Tests and Limits

[Squad 2 Head Quarters]

Vil and Kayla had an intense stare-off before Kayla jumped the breaks and went for the attack. She tried harming Vil twice with her talon-like hands. Vil was able to dodge swiftly and precisely. Kayla was just about to get Vil when she thrust her right arm towards his face and he dodged to the side, in response she closed her palm into a fist her vibe energy did the same.

She aimed her punch to hit Vil on the side of his head. Vil dodged by leaning on his back holding his body up with just his arms and left leg he sent a kick to her face with his right leg, which she blocked with her freehand pushing her back a little. "You've got spunk" she commended. They have another stare off before Clashing once more

[squad 5 HQ]

Sul hopped and skipped around trying his best to avoid the deadly blade. Its snake-like movement made it incredibly difficult to predict. 'There's no hope or me beating him here, I have to make a break for it when I get the chance.' Sul thought to himself.

Azul drew back his sword to the normal shape when he got bored of watching Sul just jump around to dodge. 'NOW' Sul thought, he took his chance to take a break for the stairs. "Slithering whip frenzy," Azul says. Sul was immediately halted as Azul's sword went back to the same form as earlier and it was moving more intensely. The swords then began following his trail like a hungry snake trying to catch a bunny.

"What the hell is this," Sul says. A horizontal ring of fire conjured in front of him with a sword emerging from it. He grabbed the sword and the sheath. Holding one of them in either of his hands. He began blocking and slashing at the thin, piano wire-like sword.

"Well seems one word doesn't scare you as much, how bout I bring the other" Azul drew his other sword making his attacks more intense, increasing the difficulty in the process. "One of the dragon head blades itself is powerful, but when their both together synchronizing their power skyrockets, making it almost impossible to defeat, the dragon head blades don't ever show their full power until they're both together," Azul explains. While Sul continued bleeding and sweating.

Azul finally stopped his assault. "You don't hold back do you?" Sul asks. "I do this isn't even 10% of my power." Azul bragged. He held his sword out again and continued his assault.

Kayla clashed with Vil as they seemed to run and jump up and about. Vil tried to aim for a right uppercut, but she caught it with her left hand and kicked him with her right leg. Vil spun out of the way and raised his leg to give her a kick on the face which she blocked with her right arm. He let his leg down and jumped back, they once again have an intense stare-off.

"What's with these two and their staring." The vice-captain asked. Captain Myra watched closely at Vil's posture as she then squinted her eyes. She paid close attention to Vil's arm as she noticed what seemed to be a dagger in his sleeves.

"You know Vil I have always wanted to fight you, in the tournament you kept giving me a surge of adrenaline one my brother himself couldn't give me, so I was hoping to fight u during the tournament, I was saddened when that didn't happen, however now." Kayla Stopped. Her energy drew sharper and more fierce. "I just want to KILL YOU."

With a burst of speed, she ran straight towards him with her eagle talon right to his face. Vil leaned over dodging the attack completely. When her talon had fully gone past him he used his arms to lift him and landed on his feet. Kayla looked behind to see Vil's head unscathed. "How disappointing I thought I had you." She said saddened. Vil smiled. The dagger that had been hidden in his sleeves had slid out into his hand.

With one solid movement, he twirled and threw two daggers from either of his sleeves at her. She deflected them with her talons, but Vil appeared above her and kicked her with both his legs, grabbing the daggers in the air in the process. She slid back a few feet, and Vil landed with a smug grin. "Don't get cocky" Kayla screamed as she rushed him once again.

Sul was still barely dodging attacks from Azul. Meanwhile, his tormentor was having a rather fun time. "Hey, Kid I heard in the tournament. From two days ago, you were able to summon some kind of dark power." Azul says. "Yeah what about it?" Sul asks. "If you have such a power then use it on me, let me see it," Azul asked. "No" Sul replied. "Why not?" Azul asked with a saddened tone. "Because I can't control the power, I don't even know who it belonged to," Sul explained.

"I see… so you think I'm too weak and unworthy for you to use the power." Azul speculated. "No that's not what I'm saying." Sul tried to assure him. "Don't worry Sul. Now you've earned my wrath." Azul says. He shrinks his sword back to its normal state. He ran towards Sul with both swords out he began slashing and cutting at Sul. Sul blocked both of his swords with both the sheathe and blade of his sword. He then jumped back, he reached a dead end since behind him was a window.

"Don't look down on me Sul," Azul says. He held his arm out as it began charging with Vibe energy. "Vibe techniques. Plasma Bomb." Azul says as he sprinted to Sul destroying everything in front of him. Sul had managed to dodge by jumping out the window Azul looked down to see Sul had saved himself from falling by sticking his sword in the building. Using his sword he swung himself to a nearby window. Before he could open the window. Sul was met by a rather furious Azul.

"Plasma bomb Azul says." He aimed outside.

"I'm going to kill you Sul," Azul says as Sul Held on for dear life on the side of the building. "I can't focus my energy while fighting him at the same time. "I have to try something," Sul says. Sul closed his eyes and focused intensely.

[Sul's subconscious]

"You've come for my power again," Tomarus says. Hahahahahah. "Well then". Sul felt a tremendous surge of power upon him. "I found you now," Azul says. "Huh, what the hell," Azul says in shock. Sul had completely changed. His energy was denser and he gave a malicious vibe. He lashed out at Azul with his sword. And in one fluid motion, he slashed down. Azul blocked with both his swords, yet the attack felt heavy.

He was immediately engulfed by a dense amount of black vibe energy. Tomarus's energy left Sul's body as Sul went down the stairs. When he fell down the window he had landed on the 7th floor. He looked at the time and saw he only had 2 minutes left. As if he gained energy from Tomarus again he sprinted down the stairs in a blitz, making it at the 12-second mark.

"Well seems like the boy did it." Captain Jeremi says. "He was quite slow, I remember finishing this in under 2 minutes." Yousef bragged. "Well, you're a special case," Jeremi replied.

Kayla and Vil continued their onslaught for 30 minutes with both sides showing impressive tricks, but no one getting ahead of the other. Captain Myra paid close attention to Vil's stances and tricks. "That boy… he isn't ordinary." She says. Her assistant looked at her confused. "The way he fights, it's not ordinary, only an assassin fights like that and his posture and his use of daggers and hidden blades. He's fit for the squad." Captain Myra complimented. "Kayla is also proficient at her use of vibe techniques, and she is quick to learn, but she is still rather weak in stealth." Myra criticized. "What are you going to do now ma'am." Her vice-captain asked.

"I've seen enough," she replied. Both Vil and Kayla leave each other alone and both stand back. "Well, I'm done with my evaluation." Captain Myra said. "Congrats both of you. You both passed." She congratulated. "Meet me at my office later for your uniforms." She informed. "That was fun right Vil?" Kayla says as she puts her arm around him and whispers to his ear. "We should fight like this more often." She says before walking away.

Vil looked at her with no expression and looked at the daggers he held in his hands.

"It's been 4 years now." Vil finally spoke.

Isaiah sat in the separate room he was provided by the squad. A messenger came to his room knocking on the door. "May I help you?" Isaiah asked. "The captain would like to speak to you, report to the office this instant."

There's been a case of large casualties in one of the sanctions outside the outskirts of the nation, it shouldn't be something too major so I've requested Your help. Are you up for it?" Captain Silva said. Isaiah looked at his father and then closed his eyes. "I am prepared, father," he says with his eyes wide open. He headed back to his room for the night and packed all his tools for tomorrow. He looked up at the sky. 'Somewhere far away my brother Kai is underneath these stars looking at them as well, I wonder how he's doing or what he's doing.' Isaiah thought.

[Outskirts of The Viper nation.]

A small nation bustling with lively buildings and streets was seen. At the Center of the nation, a blonde-haired boy stood on the balcony of a castle of some sort. The boy was tall and slim, his hair was a low fade, and he wore royal clothing. He walked back into the comfort of his home. "You look quite elegant today sir Kai." A dark-skinned woman said as she saw him walk in.

"My beautiful wife Naki," Kai says. He kisses her. Naki was a dark-skinned Girl who wore a blue royal dress alongside pearls and jewelry. "Come on let's go take a walk outside." Kai insisted. They both walk out into the bustling streets where the lights and people kept them entertained. "Sir Kai.Bad news." one of Kai's messengers informed. "Not here let's talk away from the people." The messenger says.

"Ok tell me what happened?" Kai asked. "It's the commissioner of the rival nation, he declined our peace offer after he killed the team who were sent to give him the offering." The messenger says. "He also told us to ready ourselves for a war he's bringing his 600000 soldiers. To our town and he won't stop until he destroys it. He says he's going for your head." The messenger finished. "My head?" Kai asked.

"Yes, thousands of people have placed billions of rai on your head." He informed.

"Wow, I didn't realize how much I'm worth," Kai says in amazement. "SIR HOW CAN YOU ACT SO CALM. YOU HAVE A BOUNTY HUNTER ON YOUR TAIL AND HE'S BRINGING 40 times more men than what we have." The messenger exclaimed. "I suppose you're right is what I would say if I wasn't the most powerful man on this planet," Kai replied. The messenger looked at him confused. "I have nothing to fear in this world because I am Invincible," Kai says.

The messenger was unfazed. "Okay, but we should start the evacuation." The messenger thought.

"Yeah, you're right, oh yes when is he going to lead his invasion," Kai asked.

"Today right now when he gets the signal." The messenger said.

"What signal?" Kai asked.

"This," the messenger said as he revealed 600 grams worth of explosives under his Jacket.

Kai's eyes gap wide open as the man in front of him and the surrounding area was engulfed in flames.

[east of the Nation's walls]

"THAT'S THE SIGNAL CHARGE" exclaimed the commissioner. Without a moment's notice, the walls and homes began getting destroyed. People scrambled and bolted as they tried to find an escape. "Kai, Kai, Kai," Naki says as she pushed and fights through the waves of people trying to get to her Love. "Naki" a woman screamed. "It's me Cami." The woman says.

"Come on we have to escape." Cami says "how are we going to get through this amount of people." Naki asked. "Leave it to me," Cami says. "Vibe technique earth manipulation." She slammed her palm on the ground making it rise towards their goal. "There it is the explosion," Naki says. "They both land on the floor and Naki hurried towards Kai while Cami followed close behind. The ground was still smoking and flames covered the terrain.

"Kai," Naki says as she saw a dead body disconnected from its lower half. To her relief, it wasn't her husband, but the messenger who betrayed them. She looked over to see Kai. Unscathed. "Sir Kai." She says. Half of his Clothing had been blown off, revealing his muscular body. He looked up in the sky at the stars. "The stars… their extra beautiful today. He says. "Cami I want you to take care of Naki." He ordered. "Yes sir," Cami responded. With a flash, he disappeared. "Cami is it just me or did Kai's energy level just skyrocket ever since he got hit with that blast?" Naki said. "You noticed that too?" Cami asked.

"Hahahahhaha Now this nation is mine as well. I killed your king and your queen will be next too." The commissioner said to the civilians he had been held hostage by his men.

"Awesome speech you got there great intro and everything, but no one is dying today at least not on my watch," Kai says in the shadows.

"And who are you?" The commissioner asked.

"Just a regular nobody who's going to kick the living shit out of your ass," Kai responded.

"You dare disrespect your new King?" The commissioner asked.

"New king?…. Who died and made you king?" Kai asked.

"Fools didn't you hear what I've been saying? I KILLED YOUR KING " He asked.

"Is that so? Well, I'm sorry to break it to you, but I don't remember dying." Kai says as he stepped into the light.

The civilians were brought with happiness, seeing their King alive and kicking. "Soldiers kill him the Commissioner demanded with fear. "Vibe technique, flame manipulation." 300 soldiers said simultaneously as they hit Kai with a spiraling fire torrent. "Oooo hot hot" Kai says. "Just kidding," Kai says. He moved lifted his right arm and swayed it to the right.

The spinning torrent completely disappeared. And not a single one of their attacks hit him. "Impossible" "how did he do it." "What's with him?" The soldiers said. He yawned and looked over. "Oh is it my turn to attack?" He taunts. His expression changed from tired and bored to malicious and bloodthirsty. "Well then. My turn" he says "with one blink 400 soldiers had already been killed. The soldiers all try to rush at him at the same time. With a few throwing daggers and blades weapons at him.

"Is this all you got I can do this all day?" Kai bragged. 500 soldiers ran towards him in every direction with their swords and spears out. "Vibe technique," Kai says. He lifts his right arm once again and swayed it to the right once again. "die" he says. The 500 soldiers that were running towards him, had the top half of their bodies vaporized leaving nothing, but blood to spew on the floor.

I'm not done yet. Kai says. He raised his left arm. violently removing the spines of 400 soldiers. "Now then, let's see who has the spine to take on these attacks." He said. The spines all circled him in the sky. He then began spinning all of them violently and then shooting them randomly at different soldiers.

His aim and precision were on point leaving no spine wasted. "Well, that looks like the last of them he says. He looked over for the commissioner to see he had vanished. "Oh no fuck. I'll just have to find him." He says. He finally turns back and walked away when all of a sudden he felt a sharp pain in his chest. As two soldiers penetrated him with a spear and sword. "We got you now." Soldier one says. "We got you in your heart and lungs. You've lost." Soldier 2 also said. "That's for killing our brothers in arms." Soldier one said once more. Kai gasped for air as 4 words escaped his mouth.

"THAT FUCKING HURTS DAMMIT." He says.

With the site of the wound, he broke the spear and the sword. He then. Removed the blades from his body. "Damn that fucking hurts you should be careful with those you might hurt someone," Kai says advising them. Rather than ending them. "I have to go I have somewhere to be." He says as he vanished in a flash. "Why didn't he kill us?" The first soldier asked, "I don't know." The other replied. "What's that smell?" One replied "It's my pants I think I pissed them" the other responded.

"Where could he be, I can't let him escape," Kai says. 'Maybe I should use that technique I learned back in the academy, but never cared to use.' He thought. "Ok here goes Vibe technique, echolocation." He said. As if a drop of water fell into a lake he sent rings that only expanded throughout the nation and the battlefield. It was like he had eyes everywhere. He finally found the commissioner only to see he had captured both Cami and Naki.

"No Naki." He screams. He landed on the ground with a large crater on the floor. "GET AWAY FROM FROM HER THIS INSTANCE." He demanded the commissioner held her in his arms and put a knife on her neck. "Let's put this to a test now shall we, which do you think will happen first you killing me or me ending her life in front of your eyes." He Taunted. "Let her go," Kai demanded. The commissioner kept his malicious smile."How about a deal?" You can have all you want in my nation in exchange for her life and I will disappear." Kai tried to bargain. "Why should I think you would keep your promise." He asked. "You have my word," Kai said sincerely. "Fine," he says. He let her go as she runs into Kai's arms. "Oops." The commissioner says as he clicked a remote.

"Kai nooo it's a trap." Naki says.

She pushed him away from her. She began glowing red as her body began swelling and disorienting until she exploded from the inside out. Her blood and guts splattered everywhere. Kai had her blood all over him as he was in shock and disbelief.

"Hahahahahahha you should have seen the look on your face priceless." The commissioner scoffed.

"Don't worry she was a waste of a woman anyway." He insulted. "If I we're you I would be glad she was gon-" he stopped as Kai appears in front of him and having a Punch to his face. The impact from the punch gave the floor with large deep cracks. The commissioner was sent flying through hundreds of trees before coming to a stop. On a giant rock. He tried to stand up but Kai was already beside him.

"You're going to pay for killing her." He said with a cold stare. He kicked the commissioner upwards with his left leg. This sent him flying into the sky at immense speed. When the commissioner stopped and began falling Kai raised his arm with his palm wide open. "Vibe technique, air manipulation." He then closed his palm. The commissioner began feeling pressure squeezing his body. He screamed in pain as his bones began snapping and piercing his organs. Until he fell to the floor nothing but a shredded piece of flesh. Kai appeared on the battlefield again to handle the rest of the soldiers.

He vanished and multiple of their forces began getting massacred. Kai had the same cold expression as he killed them in the thousands. A solder was able to cut Kai, but instead of his skin he only cut the only quarter piece of clothing he had on his chest. "You idiot." He insulted. As he grabbed him by the head and squished it. His power surged and exploded since the last piece of clothing he had left was destroyed. Everyone and the surrounding area got blown away.

3 minutes pass and all we see is blood bathed Kai with tears in his eyes.

"Naki I failed you…." He says.
