RIVALS IN LOVE

Prologue

Sighing, he turned the next page of the case file he was working on. He looked over to his right to see his husband lazing on the couch reading through a comic book. He sighed again. Loudly. He was so bored but he was told he had to finish what he was working on first.

"Are you almost done?" The deep yet sweet voice asked softly with a small laugh. He heard a creak and then it went silent again. He groaned.

"Not yet" he said as he looked over again. This time, he was seated up looking at him with an affectionate look in his eyes. He was tempted to just ignore his work and go have some cuddle time with his significant other. "Wanna come here to help out?" He asked in an attempt to get him to come over. Just having his scent nearby would be sufficient enough to help him get by. Or so he thought.

"You know, Cass" he said as he stood up from the couch. "Seducing me this way is a new low even for you. You make me feel like I'm overworking you in some way," he said as he approached the desk. Cassian looked up at his husband with a cheeky smile. He was still at awe that he managed to snag one of the Mafias' most eligible bachelors. Much less Rainier who was always so cold towards him in the beginning. He wanted to have a little fun but he knew Rainier was a stickler for rules so he had to be clever about it.

"I need your help with something for a few," he said as he turned back to the files sprawled on his desk. He reached for a blue file and handed it to Rainier. "What will you do with that guy?" he asked as he went on with his work. Having Rainier close was more than enough for him to get his head in the game. But it seemed as Rainier had a different agenda to approaching him.

"What did he do?" He asked as he leaned down to peek over Cassian's shoulder to see what he was working on.

"He flirted with me," Cassian said absentmindedly. He heard a groan next to his ear and he had to do breathing exercises to calm his racing heart. It was probably a thoughtful groan. There was no reason for Rainier to want to do it right there and then.

"Is that so?" He heard but Rainier's voice was no longer next to his ear, he looked back and was met by his shirtless and ripped six pack. He had to control himself so he just bit his lip and looked up.

"Looks like you need a reminder on who you belong to," Rainier all but growled out. It took a moment for Cassian to realise that he was jealous. He felt giddiness crawl through his veins but... Wait, something didn't add up.

"Wait, why am I the one being punished?" He asked with a frown on his face. Rainier just smirked down at him and slowly leaned down so he was inches from his face.

"Cause you didn't kill him yet," he said in seductive voice before attaching his lips to Cassian's parted ones in a hasty kiss
