C69 He Flew Into Rage

Ning Qianyu immediately glanced at the man standing before her. "Uncle Wang," she said, blinking in recognition. He was the old driver from the Courtyard of the Mu Family. "What brings you here?"

He bowed his head in respect. "Young Mistress, Madame has been waiting for you."

"Grandma? She's here?" She looked around. "Where is she?"

"In the car. I'll lead the way." Without another word, he started walking towards the school's exit, directing her out of the front gates. There, she could see a tinted car in the front of the road.

After opening the door, she could see Old Madame Mu sitting in the back seat.

A smile immediately spread across her features as she greeted the old matriarch, "Grandma."

"Qianyu!" She held onto her hands as soon as she stepped inside the backseat. "I heard you were ill. Are you feeling better? Is everything okay?"

"I've already recovered." Ning Qianyu squinted her eyes. "Wait, Grandma, how did you know I was here?"

The old woman's eyes glittered. "That's a secret."

Only she would call that a secret. Laughing lightly, she glanced around the car. "Grandma," she started as her eyebrows furrowed over her face. "Why were you looking for me?"

"Right. You see, Yuwei has been living in the Courtyard during this time. You've seen the fight she had with Jinbo, so they aren't in the best of moods." With a shake of her head, Old Madame Mu sighed. "I was thinking if you could talk to her–persuade her. After all, you're about the same age, aren't you?"

Hearing her say that, the smile on Ning Qianyu's face instantly froze.

They didn't have anything in common, besides the fact that the woman utterly hated her. However, it's not as if she could reject Grandma! Although stiff, she slowly nodded. "I'll go."

"That's brilliant!" She immediately brightened. "This is why I like you best."

Ning Qianyu rubbed the back of her neck almost sheepishly. "Grandma," she started. "I'll call Shengchen first, okay?"

"Are you afraid he'll be worried?" At the sound of the old woman's teasing, her cheeks darkened as she lowered her gaze. "Ah, young love. If my husband were alive, I wonder if we'll be as adorable as the both of you."

Seeing her pause, the old matriarch shook her head with a laugh. "All right, all right." She raised her hands up in mock surrender. "I won't laugh at you anymore. Go and make the call."

During this time, Mu Shengchen was in his office. He had been gazing at the different documents on his desk when he asked, "Ye Xi, what do women usually like?"

"Jewelry–the bigger the diamond, the better–" he started to say without thinking. However, as soon as he felt the air growing colder, he stopped and glanced up. There, he could see Mu Shengchen staring at him curiously, as if he was deciding what to do with his dead body.

"I–I'm only talking about ordinary girls, of course," he stuttered out. "Young Mistress is different from them."

Hearing the words slip past his lips, Mu Shengchen's expression softened. "Continue."

"I believe Young Mistress likes flowers." Who doesn't? Every woman he had met in his lifetime loved flowers. It wasn't as if Young Mistress was any different, right?

"What kind of flowers does she like?"

"Uhm...About that..." Ye Xi stuttered out as he shuffled on his feet. How was he supposed to know what flowers Young Mistress liked? It wasn't as if they had talked.

Just as he was about to say something else, the phone in his pocket rang out. Mu Shengchen glanced at the phone screen, and immediately, his icy exterior melted. His bleary eyes cleared, and a small smile played on his lips.

Ye Xi blinked. So the iceberg could actually melt–just like that. He slowly shook his head in admiration. It seemed that the man wasn't a robot after all...at least, as long as Young Mistress was there.

"Hey," he said softly. "Have you finished your classes?"

"I have. I'm just calling you to tell you that Grandma invited me to the Han Garden," she responded. "I'll go back later to cook, okay?"

"What are you going there for?" He frowned.

There was a pause before she replied, "Grandma wants me to persuade Qi Yuwei."

His eyes turned dark. "Don't go."

"I'll just go over to take a look, all right? I'll be back soon." Afraid that he'd throw a fit, she immediately hung up the phone and glance up at the old matriarch. "We can go now."

"Ye Xi, let's go to the Courtyard now." After saying that, he controlled his wheelchair out of the room.

Ye Xi's eyes widened in panic. "But wait! We still have a meeting–"

While Mu Shengchen was in a rush to leave, Ning Qianyu had already arrived. As soon as they arrived, the old matriarch sighed. "I'll be in my room to rest for a while, all right?" She patted her on the shoulder. "Qi Yuwei's on the second floor."

"All right." She was just about to knock on the room when she heard an argument blaring out.

"I've already said I wouldn't marry you!" Even Mu Jinbo sounded exasperated.

"Don't be like this," Qi Yuwei pleaded. "I–I'm already pregnant. Can't you just forget about everything?"

Ning Qianyu stopped in her tracks as soon as she heard their voices. Looking around, she immediately slipped into the room next door.

"We both know what has become of that child. I've already warned you, haven't I? You get rid of that child yourself; otherwise, we're done here." As soon as the words left his lips, he pushed the door open and strode out of the room.

"Jinbo, please!" Qi Yuwei begged, but no matter what she did, he still wouldn't turn back.

She had been sitting on the cold, hard ground for the entire time when she saw a pair of high heels appearing in her sight. Immediately, her heart stirred in anger and jealousy.

Ning Qianyu squatted. "Let's stand up, okay? You're pregnant. You shouldn't–"

Qi Yuwei looked up. When she saw who it was, she immediately shoved her back. "Get lost!" she snapped. "I don't need you meddling in my business, all right?"

"But–agh!" She stumbled back, wincing.

Qi Yuwei raised her head high and proud as if she hadn't just been caught begging for forgiveness. "Just because this happened doesn't mean I'm a joke, you got that?" She sneered. "You think I'll be defeated? Think again!" Without another word, she left the room.

Ning Qianyu slowly got up from the ground, wincing when the pain shot up from her ankle. Not knowing what had happened, she could hear Mu Shengchen's voice from outside, "Qianyu, where are you?"

"I'm here!" Forgetting about the pain, she jumped up and opened the door. There, she saw Mu Shengchen sitting in his wheelchair.

"Let's go back."

"All right." She had just let go of the handle when she staggered forward.

Just when she thought that she'll fall onto the concrete, Mu Shengchen immediately grabbed her waist and swing her onto his seat. She could feel his heart hammering in her chest.

"Be careful," he scolded lightly, hugging her.

However, when he looked down, a dark look crossed his face. "What happened to your feet?"

"I–I accidentally sprained it," she stuttered out. .

"Accidentally? When have you ever been so careless?" Mu Shengchen's face turned expressionless. However, his voice was so sharp that it could cut through wood. It echoed across the courtyard, attracting everyone's attention.

Even Ye Xi couldn't stop himself from running towards them. "Young Master!"

"I really did sprain it by accident," she murmured. "It's not that serious."

"Let's go back immediately." He scowled.

"All right." Ye Xi immediately pushed them down the steps.
