On the other side of the city, Mu Shengchen looked impassive as he arrived in front of Room 999 at Mingjun Hotel. He appeared right on time, just like always.
He knocked on the door a couple of times, and he could hear footsteps sounding from the other end of the room. There was a short pause before the door creaked open.
Su Lianmeng stepped out.
She was wearing a transparent nightgown, showcasing her black, lacy undergarments. A large smile donned her features as she leaned in closer, just enough to reveal her cleavage. "You're here," she said sultrily.
"Weren't you waiting for me?" He gazed at her stature indifferently as he controlled his wheelchair into the bedroom.
She slowly followed him inside, making sure that she didn't close the door all the way.
"I have been waiting for you for quite a while," she purred.
Su Lianmeng slowly wrapped her arms around his shoulders, letting her hands graze down his abdominal muscles. Even though he was in a wheelchair, the man was still built to her liking. "Maybe you should relax a little–"
"What's the news?" His expression gave absolutely nothing away as he straightened his back, looking unaffected by her touch and purrs.
"You shouldn't worry too much." Seeing that he didn't refuse her hug, the smile on her face spread even wider. She let go of the man's hand and walked towards the bar counter. There, she poured two glasses of red wine. "How about you have a drink first? To celebrate our reunion?"
"You should know that I'm not a patient man," he said matter-of-factly.
How could she not? Even when they were together, Mu Shengchen wasn't the type of person who'd take things lightly. With a sigh, she handed him a glass. "My father received the Mu's starting price during the bidding war," she finally admitted.
"And who revealed the price?" After hearing her, he didn't look the slightest bit surprised.
"Do you really treat our past that lightly?" Su Lianmeng downed the glass in one sitting before glancing up at him. "It's been a while since we last talked."
"If you aren't going to tell me, then I'll go."
However, before he could turn his wheelchair, she immediately stood in front of him. After all, her plan still hadn't succeeded yet. There was no way she's going to let him leave so easily.
"I know the one who revealed the bidding price, but that information depends on your sincerity." Su Lianmeng gazed at him meaningfully.
He cocked up an eyebrow. "What sincerity?"
While they were talking to each other, Ye Xi was settled inside Room 998 with a cup of coffee in his hand. He had been staring at the several monitoring screens this entire time. One showed the entrance to Mingjun Hotel. The others showed the corridors on each floor. And there was one camera perched inside Room 999.
This was Mu Shengchen's plan–to get the information about who the traitor was three years ago from Su Lianmeng without alerting anyone.
Ye Xi was only waiting for his boss to give him the signal. Once he did, he'd immediately rush into the room to bring him out–just like what they had planned.
However, something caught his eye as he was staring at the screen. A figure standing in front of the entrance. He froze, and the cup of coffee fell onto the table. Crap!
"Why is Young Mistress here?" He gaped. "This isn't good..."
But if he left now...Young Master's plan would fail.
"Please don't blame me for this," he could only murmur in prayer as he watched Ning Qianyu take the elevator and went all the way up to Room 999. Her eyes were shrouded with grief, and her hands were clenched into fists–as if she knew that something was up.
In Room 999, Su Lianmeng was slowly approaching him like a tiger who had caught her prey. "What I want is very simple."
"What I want is also very simple." He raised his eyebrows.
"Do you miss my body?" She let her fingers trail across her curves as she moaned out in complete ignorance. "I could tell she misses you, very much."
"She?" Even then, he still remained unmoved, as if he couldn't see her in his eyes.
Just then, a very soft sound came from the other end of the door. Su Lianmeng's eyes flashed dangerously as she pressed her lips against his ear. "If you still want me, I'll tell you."
"Don't you know that I got into a car accident?" Mu Shengchen's expression remained as calm as ever, but his voice had grown cold. "What you want, I can't give."
Her face froze.
Bang! The door slammed open.
Mu Shengchen turned around in surprise to see Ning Qianyu standing in the doorway. Her eyes were already bloodshot, and her nose was tinged red. It looked like she was desperately trying to hold back her tears.
"Qianyu?"
"I...I'm sorry to bother you," she stuttered out, covering her mouth. "Please continue."
Ning Qianyu didn't even bother to let them speak as she turned around and ran away. They were the real pair. The beautiful woman, and the handsome man–they were already fated from the start. She was just an extra in their story.
"Qianyu, don't go!" Mu Shengchen was about to race after her when Su Lianmeng tightened her grip around him. She breathed in his neck as she tried to stuff her face against his chest.
He forcefully pushed her away as he controlled his wheelchair to go after her.
"Qianyu!" he yelled out to see Ning Qianyu running into the elevator. Anxiety flashed in his eyes as he tried to chase after her. However, upon approaching a bump, his wheelchair became unstable and he found himself being thrown out of his seat.
Seeing him fall onto the carpeted floor, everyone immediately surrounded him to help.
"What happened?"
"Why did you fall?"
"Sir, let me carry you back to your seat."
Suddenly, he could see a pair of familiar hands being placed on his shoulders. He slowly looked up to see Ning Qianyu squatting next to him. Her face was still bowed to cover her tear-streaked face.
Someone else supported the wheelchair while she carried him up onto his seat. With everyone's help, she was finally able to get him up. After ensuring his safety, she turned to everyone.
"Thank you for your help." She bowed her head.
"It's no problem!"
After they all left, Ning Qianyu turned around. She was just about to leave when he grabbed her wrist.
"Don't leave."
She wanted to pull her arm from his grasp, but his grip only tightened.
She didn't dare turn back, not wanting to throw herself into his arms and cry as she had always done. Her hands trembled as she struggled under his grip. "Just let me go!"
"No," he stated.
"Su Lianmeng's still waiting for you in her...your room." She blinked rapidly, trying to prevent her tears from falling. A part of her was afraid that she'd trigger them if she moved another step forward.
"She's not important," he insisted.
Mu Shengchen had eyes for her. Always her. Su Lianmeng could never match up.
Even then, Ning Qianyu couldn't find it in herself to listen to his words. The best she could do was to squat on the ground and hug her knees, sobbing in grief.
His heart ached at the sight. "Don't cry," he whispered, pulling her into his arms. "Nothing happened between us."
"She said that you finally made up," she spat.
"I only came to this appointment because I needed something from her," he insisted, desperately trying to reassure his wife.
